Meghan is a sweet and kind lady.
Wherever the RF do "charity" "work" they don't donate money. In stead they go there in clothes, cars paid for by tax payers with staff paid for by staff payers to cut a ribbon.
Even the builders, architects and people who will work in the building do much more and actual work than the RF yet they must be hallowed for it otherwise their followers blindly wail at the thought of them being criticised.

The recent headline that social housing will be built on RF land for example is a case of the more you look the less you see.

William says his life's work is to end homelessness and takes an annual photo with a man portrayed to be homeless. He doesn't donate his money to actually build anything. This recent report is for a minute amount; 20 or so units.
In fact this is a planning requirement to build a certain percentage of social housing in every new development.
1 for every 9 or so.

Even though the RF and BM hate her and use the press against her to deflect from those who must not be criticised she has kindness flowing through her and has donated her own money to a charity in the UK.

PS don't buy a pet if you can't keep them and try to find a home for them if circumstances change.

Well put. Meghan makes sure she has a photographer with her no matter what she does, from eating lunch to driving to hiking to "opening" an animal shelter. If she doesn't benefit from it in some way, you can bet she would not be doing it.

The OP makes it sound like Archewell (the donating entity as per the statement) has donated the cost of the entire wing. Whereas the statement is a "generous donation". How is "generous" being defined? Wouldn't it have shown up on the last set of accounts for Archewell (the donation presumably being made prior to the creation of the wing, so probably long enough in the past to have been recorded in the previous year's accounts). I don't remember it being discussed when the accounts were released last year.

As for the Wales' never donating anything, I seem to remember William & Catherine donating the £1m settlement they received for the extensive phone hacking they experienced - absolutely their money, not the taxpayer's - to The Invictus Games.

The 2022-2023 Impact Report listed a donation of $50,000 (currently that’s c.£39,000) to “Wellbeing International Inc (Mayhew) with a Maryland address to “support a capital refurbishment plan to support canine welfare”. Nothing was listed in Archewell’s 2021 accounts.

Interesting that it was routed via a US third party, itself a non-profit. That generally means the third party will also have taken a cut.

Anyway, generous yes, but nowhere near enough to fund the new wing.

The Prince and Princess’ of Wales’ charitable foundation gave out £7m in grants in the financial year of 2022. Archewell gave out $1.2m in 2022.

Other than the example Mymilkshake gave above, we don’t generally know what either couple donate outside of their foundations.

£39k is hardly going to fund an average home extension, let alone an entire wing of an animal shelter. And yes, how much of that actually made it to the shelter's coffers? It is generous, but generosity is all relative when you are a multi millionaire. And as the source of the funding is Archewell, then it's not clear whose pocket the money originally came from, the Sussexes or one of their donors.

OP, tell MM that we should also thank the US taxpayer since the foundation will have received preferential tax rates.
