Social media leaking news of POW hysterectomy

It goes without saying its only her business, however I found it odd that whilst 'doomscrolling' from sleeplessness I came across a couple of posts from US news sites claiming they had news obtained from 'Palace sources' posted onto SM.

We all know that KP is somewhat leaky but over something like this? (I suppose Maybe if the price was right?)
Or is it just speculation passed off as the truth?
Or, are US news sources avowed to publish info that uk ones aren't?

I'm not particularly interested in what she's had done, surgery is unpleasant, full stop, But I'm just wondering if there's a reason the story is in US but not uk news-if it even real ( which seems slightly unlikely I would think, but then you never know about anyone personal life).
Just found out odd and curious as to the whys

...ahhh... @losingtheplot999

before we engage on whether £1.29 is value for money or not... and I'm sure that is subjective

  • please provide me with evidence that the POW, being a citizen of the UK, is not entitled to privacy on health matters

I think losingtheplot999 was making a broader point. Of course the PoW is entitled to keep her medical records private but part of the Faustian pact that the monarchy has made with the media, for the survival of the institution, is that it will share all the good bits of their lives with us: all the spectacular weddings, good news about births, engagements, important birthdays, passing out ceremonies, first days at school etc.

So once you have invited the media in to do that, because the public would not be remotely interested in monarchy if they celebrated all of their happy ceremonies such as weddings in private behind closed doors, is is also becomes incumbent upon them to share their funerals, divorces, employment failures, falling out, extra-marital relationships and medical problems too.

You can’t have one without the other and it’s naive in the extreme to think that you can.

Obviously, the PoW is entitled to keep as much medical information back as she wishes, but to expect the press and the public to avert their eyes and take no interest in her operation and the symptoms that led to it is wildly naieve.

I imagine this prurient interest in them is bordering on psychological torture for the PoW and other members of the RF and that is why we need a republic.

And that’s aside from the psychological cruelty of determining a 10 year old boy’s future without giving him any choice in the matter.

It should all he stopped and so should the public’s prurient interest in this family.

It should be noted too, that others like Chelsy Davy very sensibly opted not to be part of the circus.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 28/01/2024 08:11

I’m not buying a “secret entrance” theory for William visiting his wife this week, KP must know they are getting negative stories about William not visiting so if he did visit, they’d want him papped arriving and leaving like the Queen. (That she’s gone twice in 24 hours makes William look bad. )

not taking the children looks bad because it is bad. She’s been in for a while, the kids are all school age so can be trusted not to touch things. I am surprised they’ve not gone at least once. (And if they did go in/out via a staff car park etc, would expect KP to leak that they’ve been, they leak everything else.)

You’re on the wrong thread 🧵

LolaSmiles · 28/01/2024 08:19

To anyone saying why does it matter?
What a heartless thing to say. Kate is a very much loved, central and senior member of the royal family, soon to be Queen! Of course the public are concerned and want to know if she is okay!.
It's not heartless. Plenty of people have said they hope she's ok.

It's the pouring over details, getting worked up and worried because nobody's give them updates about a woman they don't know, posting online like they're so emotional about it because of course average members of the public are going to be worried until they're given more information, and thinking a woman's medical updates should be given to satisfy the curiosity of strangers that people are questioning.

You've said it yourself, the public want to know if she's ok, or more accurately some of the public feel entitled to updates on a woman's medical situation. It's nosiness dressed up as concern.

The Princess of Wales has her friends, family and colleagues who will be updated with what they need to know.

@MoneyMoneyMoneyy "You’re on the wrong thread 🧵"

Because she's being sensible and measured?

MoneyMoneyMoneyy · 28/01/2024 08:21

I have a bad feeling about this. I very much hope I am wrong. No sign of her parents or siblings either. Really hope there’s an announcement soon that she’s on the mend and back home.

The poster’s language is not measured - “torture” “prurient” “we need a republic”.

pilates · 28/01/2024 08:36

@megletthesecond that was my take on it too - the children are the priority here. You don’t want some twisted information being fed back to them. I imagine that is why there is silence. Good call imo.

Another deeply unpleasant post @Delphigirl
Please tell me where you are getting your information from? It is very clear you are anti monarchy which you are entitled to but please stop with the unfounded derogatory statements which you cannot back up.

Delphigirl · 28/01/2024 09:09

Pilates if you want to accept all the pap the tabloids are attempting to throw at us without question, and suspend your critical faculties to assume everything must be FINE because it’s the royal family, ignoring recent history, knock yourself out. I am actually quite concerned about the woman, as a woman, not as a walking tiara and cypher.

whiteshutters · 28/01/2024 09:16

It's so sad that some people use a woman's health to shit stir for their own agenda.

LaMarschallin · 28/01/2024 09:18

Delphigirl

her very obvious eating disorder

What "very obvious eating disorder"?
Why don't people believe that others can be naturally slim?
It must be comforting for overweight people to believe that slim people must be starving themselves, I suppose.

Unlike you lot, I don’t blindly accept only the information off a KP press statement and ignore everything else including the evidence of my own eyes. Did you also think that Charles and Diana had a blissful, fairytale marriage until the day the divorce was announced? Do you believe that Prince Andrew never met the young girl to whom he paid $12m in settlement for sexual abuse? All entirely your prerogative of course.

CurlewKate · 28/01/2024 09:55

I find the idea that this radio silence is best for the children very strange. Surely a straightforward statement would be better- the constant speculation must make it worse for them.

Belinda5 · 28/01/2024 09:57

I get the distinct impression that some posters on this thread will be quite disappointed if Kate turns out to be fine and recovering normally from something fairly common such as a hysterectomy.

Given they will be getting updates directly from their family, who do actually know what’s going on, I think this concern for their welfare somewhat odd.

MaryActsLikeSheDontCare · 28/01/2024 10:03

I presume her family are visiting her daily, but there’s an agreement with the media to not report or print pictures?

CurlewKate · 28/01/2024 10:05

Well, I'm assuming that even if the older two don't have phones their school friends will have.....

What evidence of your own eyes? Are you camped outside the hospital monitoring visitors and studying the Princess’ medical notes? Are you inside KP? What evidence have you seen? The comparisons you
make are nonsense given that there was indeed evidence of them when there is none here apart from people’s vivid imaginings

It’s not for you to decide where I post on an open forum thank you.

And if that’s the sum of your response then I’m not impressed.

Serenster · 28/01/2024 10:07

Yes, but in my experience any child at school whose parent goes though a major health episode is gossiped about by the school parents, and the children asked questions by their classmates. I’ve never yet seen the family impacted by this send out a statement to satisfy the gossips’ curiosity.

And? The children will be told daily how Kate is by their father and are probably facetiming her as well. Do you really think they're going to be worried that they're not also getting updates on the BBC website?
