Some of the posters on this thread are clearly very unhappy people.

I'm not unhappy. I am not a fan of the monarchy and believe it should be abolished -but- at the same time I believe that K will be given the best treatment and care available and so it should be. And she should have as much time out as she wants / need.

Likewise for anyone who can afford to pay top dollar for the very best of hospitals, why would anyone want them to be in the same crappy conditions and the (frankly horrific) NHS and expected to go back to work the day after surgery just because that's what people on Universal Credit would have to or something... jeez I'm not keen on the hierarchy but the very point of it all is that they don't have to suffer like we do. If they did, then somethings gone awry, badly.

Ideally we should all be treated with such care but it just ain't so.

CurlewKate · 17/01/2024 22:02

@GrowUpWoman "William’s homelessness project, Kate's early years stuff. Their work on mental health."

But what do they actually do?

That may very well be the case, of course. That does not mean that some of those people are wrong about the fact that Catherine will be receiving the best care possible, which most on here could only dream of, if they, or their loved ones happen to wind up in hospital, courtesy of the NHS. And not having to work until April, with no worries about whether they would have a job to go back to, never mind getting any sick pay.

Hi, I agree. The same happened to me. I was only 40 and in and out within a day, which is disgusting. Royals receive the best treatment.

MaggieFS · 17/01/2024 21:33

You might be surprised. Aviva used to have a royal warrant because they insured so many members of the royal family. Their warrant only disappeared because a decision was made that warrants could only be held by tradespeople rather than professions due to it being so commercially sensitive.

@HundredMilesAnHour Warrants are/were issued for the provision of goods or service services to the household. It doesn't mean the RF family member themselves utilises/ed it.

I know what a warrant is thanks @MaggieFS And it's documented that historically quite a few members of the royal family used Aviva (as it now is) for insurance including our late Queen. My sources are the Financial Times and Aviva themselves.

angsty · 17/01/2024 22:05

When you say "the same happened to me" what do you mean? We do not know what has happened to the PoW.

It’s utterly abhorrent. From those salivating over a stoma , to those calling her lazy to others whinging erroneously the tax payer is paying for her hospitalisation, they should hang their heads in shame.

yes she’s a public figure, but she’s a human, a mother to three young kids, on a parenting site too. Called mumsnet, and some or so writhing in jealous over her, they can’t restrain themselves.

mydogisthebest · 17/01/2024 22:06

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 17/01/2024 21:47

@lesdeluges

That’s rubbish. If your partner, who you had three kids with, had to have a major i operation than most people who use holiday days and personal leave to be off with them. I’ve seen it happen before where I work- the only people who don’t get this are working for shite corporations.

It’s not a race to the bottom.

But most people don't have nannies, maids, cooks etc. You would need to take time off to look after your OH and children, cook, clean, do school runs etc. A lot of people would not be able to get that amount of time off.

William is hardly going to be cooking and cleaning is he?

Gummybear23 · 17/01/2024 22:06

If she has a hysterectomy will she go onto hrt?

What happened to you, you have no idea what’s wrong with Kate, but even a remote shadow of common sense would say if she’s in for 14 days she’s something that requires that, and is seriously ill, and it’s nothing like what happened to you. She notoriously left hospital very quickly after her babies, can get the best care at home, if she’s in there for so long it’s as she needs it. Unlike you, who clearly did not.

Caththegreat · 17/01/2024 22:09

Oh yes.shes all alone.no help at all.but she's a mum and therefore must be wonderful

topnoddy · 17/01/2024 22:10

LaMarschallin · 17/01/2024 21:31

I’d have thought the only reason they announced was because someone got wind and was going to leak.

I suppose those symptoms might require abdominal surgery.

Beans for breakfast ?

So what’s your point, he should fuck off out of it, let the staff care for his kids and not visit his wife? For you that’s reasonable?

whitebreadjamsandwich · 17/01/2024 22:10

Whatever it is, it's obviously quite serious and private, since we can know of the Kings prostrate issues, but not this. As others have posted, it may well be a planned emergency, rather than a truly planned procedure, given the amount of diary rejigging needed. With Williams diary also cleared to support his wife, it may well be something along the lines of a gynae/pregnancy issue that will need a long physical and emotional recovery time

Ramalangadingdong · 17/01/2024 22:10

VioletMountainHare · 17/01/2024 20:51

@Mothermummymum 🤣 You don’t recover from an eating disorder after two weeks in hospital!

But you can receive quite intensive treatment in two weeks and then continue at home with more treatment from your support team.

bessytedsy · 17/01/2024 22:11

Why are you gossiping that she is seriously ill?

The juxtaposition.

🤣 although I think it would be unrealistic for people not to speculate.

Ramalangadingdong · 17/01/2024 22:13

Wearegettingfedup · 17/01/2024 20:35

Am not a massive royalist ,but as a human being , hope she gets better soon . She is obviously very unwell at the moment.

It is really hard not to speculate, but I take your point. Perhaps it’s best to try to keep
the speculation inside one’s head rather than posting it here.

This thread is very sad. People sound so bitter. The woman is clearly quite ill and not having three months off for an ingrowing toenail.

Would it really be beyond the realms of decency to wish her a speedy recovery rather than sneering and jeering?

Well said.

Have people never heard of the term “Comparison is the thief of joy”

teddycoat · 17/01/2024 22:17

Yes, private hospitals don’t chuck you out quickly but neither would they encourage someone to stay for 14 days if it wasn’t necessary! I know because I’ve stayed in them a few times. It’s nonsense to suggest she’s staying in there “for a nice rest”- if she’s there for 14 days it’s because it’s serious and she requires monitoring.

Hospitals encourage mobilisation asap due to lower risk of blood clots and quicker recovery times. There is no way they’d be encouraging her to stay in hospital for 2 weeks as some kind of luxury relaxation experience unless it was medically required. It’s a private hospital not a bloody luxury spa!

Agree, if she wanted a holiday she could have one, she doesn’t need to fake it in bloody hospital. Some people are so crazed with envy they can’t think straight.

Most private patients aren’t Royal & also we don’t know if she actually will stay in for 10-14 days, that’s just what the press release says.

Yes, and all the while insisting that they are perfectly happy and not bitter at all...

i suspect it brings up an awareness of how great inequality is between people in society.

I do think we can have good care available. My family member had surgery last year in a private hospital with their own lovely room, bathroom, an amazing menu and great care. All courtesy of private insurance.
