The palace has specifically said it isn't cancer.

Where was this please?

Lndnmummy · 17/01/2024 17:53

No doubt the Daily Fail to blame the Dutchess of Sussex for this.

belgiumchocolates · 17/01/2024 17:53

SM have already called it Hysterectomy . I don't know why Palace couldn't have just come out and said. If it was apendix you can bet they would have announced Princes Kate has had apendectomy. Why the secrecy around Gyny treatment, there should be no shame attached. They announced Charles Prostrate but Kate undisclosed 'abdominal surgery'
Anyway poor woman I hope she fully recovers. She's in the best place most of us couldn't afford

Spot on.

That's Gyles Brandreth speculating.

Peanutsnanna · 17/01/2024 17:54

Why on earth would any woman be embarrassed about having a hysterectomy?

Halloweenrainbow · 17/01/2024 17:54

Aneurysm? That's a long recovery

Yes. I was fine. I got up the next morning and had a shower and washed my hair. Walked along the hospital corridor so the Consultant could see that I could walk ok.

Never needed any pain relief.

My Consultant said he didn't believe in keeping women in any longer than necessary and that, in his opinion, getting home and being active - walking every day, light housework etc led to much quicker recovery.

I got up the next morning and had a shower and washed my hair. I was still in hospital for 6 days. I wasn't lying in bed though, I was walking round, went down to the hospital cafeteria to have dinner with my kids. I'd had previous abdominal surgery so I don't know if that makes a difference.

i would be astounded if she had an aortic aneurysm

Pussygaloregalapagos · 17/01/2024 17:57

Tummy tuck?

zendeveloper · 17/01/2024 17:58

Why is everyone suddenly convinced it is hysterectomy? Could be anything. Hernia repair, for example.

pleasehelpwi3 · 17/01/2024 17:58

Whatever it is, we're paying for her many thousands of pounds of private medical care, and the police on the door.

Newchapterbeckons · 17/01/2024 18:00

If it was a hysterectomy I imagine the statement would read up to a week, no need for William to take any time off / maybe a day at most.

The launch of Charles announcement makes this feel more serious, if it’s nothing then why move to find a cover story. The radio channels have clearly been told to make the Kings news headline as they are only briefly mentioning Kate.

Radio 4 referred to it as major surgery just now. I might be alone in thinking this but whatever it is - it’s very serious or potentially so. The reference to protecting the children confirms that for me. It may have been ‘planned’ six hours ago.

I feel for Kate. I can’t imagine the strain she is under every single day.

Well I am as a London council tax payer- not sure that the rest of the country contributes to the Met?

FrancisSeaton · 17/01/2024 18:00

Embarrassed about a hysterectomy? Seriously

Wearegettingfedup · 17/01/2024 18:02

BIL had three coronary artery bypass grafts at the London Clinic. Ventilated for 24 hours and sternum wired back together. He was out of hospital within 7 days !!

Newchapterbeckons · 17/01/2024 18:02

An impending hysterectomy is unlikely to prevent you doing the school run.

I hope she recovers speedily and that the ghouls don’t start to creepily debate on what’s wrong with her.

give it time and they will soon appear, it seems they already have some discussions on trump and his fingers

Guess it depends what the problem is. Constant bleeding and pain could

The Home Office funds the Met, as well as the Mayor of London.
We all pay for the Royals' medical bills, holidays, food, etc etc.

Pain can be treated and bleeding too.

Maybe she literally doesn’t want people to know?

Newchapterbeckons · 17/01/2024 18:05

I have never heard of a hysterectomy taking 14 days either.

Why on earth would any woman be embarrassed about having a hysterectomy?

Not necessarily embarrassed, but the world has been picking over her uterus since she married William, perhaps she just wants a bit of medical privacy?
