Happy Birthday, Spare!

It’s the one year anniversary of the release of Spare, how are you all celebrating?!

In all seriousness, a year on what impact do you think the book has had on the Royal Family and the Sussexes?

In my opinion it clearly did very well commercially but in popular culture it became a bit of a joke. In terms of the RF I’m not sure it made much difference - to people who already didn’t like them it confirmed what they already believed, to people who did like them it was more evidence that Harry was no loss. I also think even a year later it has made reconciliation between William and Harry impossible.

No it doesn't. He wanted to put more stuff out there but he was prevented from it. His intention was still there.

CathyorClaire · 12/01/2024 10:36

The royal family have went from strength to strength since the queen passed, and are arguably more popular now

Have they?

Are they?

Looks more to me as if the wheels are coming off as the whole thing rackets its way down a rocky trail.

So go on give examples of his behaviour? What area are we talking about where all the locals knew what he was up to??

You've accused @Roussette of making stuff. Now you're making a statement, show us the receipts.

Yet again I will say, I am just expressing an opinion. Of course, he hasn't said this, it's hardly likely is it!

(Ooooh the media are going to write horrible stories about me so I'll put them in a book, and that is my statement!)
A discussion forum is about having opinions and writing about them. I can say what I think, surely? Are you just trying to shut down my opinion or something?! and I'll echo your 😂

Well they've always had the Queen who even Republicans had respect for. They've got someone new at the helm. Yes and they will survive this despite the information that is now widely known about Charles and Andrew's links to paedophiles. Sadly that shows the British public in a bad light. So desperate to hang onto history that we will ignore sexual abuse of children.

No I don't enjoy the spectacle. It sickens me.

What on earth are you on about, I'm talking about stories in the book Spare, how is that derailing? That's the actual subject of the thread!

And as for praising him for something I made up, yes! Did you miss this ? And I also think ( I copy and pasted that from my post)

Think that equals an opinion! On a discussion forum! Shock horror!

I can do lots of 😂😂😂😂😂 too! Especially as you are accusing me of derailing when I am talking about stories in a book called Spare and the title of the thread is 'happy birthday spare' !!

Touché

Roussette · 12/01/2024 11:02

rousette here is admitting that their point was made up

Blimey, some people are very invested in defending the Duke of Sussex - who was amazed to discover that the RF exists in an aura of hierarchy and inequality.

Who'd a thought it? But it is still important that your children are Prince/ss

Very true 😀no resentment at all that a monarchy (which he has said on camera he supports) has a hierarchy

Making things up? You mean expressing an opinion of what I think?

I glanced at a couple of your posts. Full of opinion.

Here is one thing you have 'made up' if you want to go down that route

Also the way he talks about the staff at the palace, crystallises how he views the ‘little people’, especially wheh they don’t play the role of ‘yes men’.

You are making things up... there you go.

Another 'making things up' from you.
(It's opinion actually but still...)
How come you can express an opinion, but if I do it's 'making things up'

Weird.

Let's leave it shall we? I am sure your posts are peppered with opinions of all sorts. As are mine.

And that is not 'making things up'. It is discussion on a forum.

No idea what you mean at all. I expressed an opinion. And I get criticised endlessly for it as 'making things up' and it being an 'irrelevant complete fabrication'.

You express a lot of opinions and I (if I could be arsed) pick lots of examples of your completely irrelevant fabrications... but I won't.

It is OPINION.

Cheerio 😂🤣😂🤣

LauderSyme · 12/01/2024 11:34

I haven't read Spare and am not a monarchist but have consumed some of the book via interviews, comment, etc in the mainstream media.

I feel very sorry for Harry's terribly hurt inner child who seems to be driving his adult behaviour. I think he may live to regret much of this acting out.
