I suspect his definition of a 'job' isn't the same as most of us - more like ' a source of large amounts of money without the need for effort or expertise'!

I would love a job along those lines!

His outrage that "Pa" cut him off! Imagine having to be financially independent!

wildernesssw · 19/01/2024 15:31

Financially independent as someone who has inherited millions, and could easily live on the income for the rest of his life!

wildernesssw · 19/01/2024 15:34

DD asked me the other day what I would do if Iwon millions on the Lottery (I don't play the Lottery 😂). I said thatI actually wouldn't want millions, as I think it would end up being a burden - although I like to think I would endow a charitable foundation and put it to good use. A quarter of a million would be life changing in a positive way. Too much money messes with you, and you lose track of reality and what is important

jeffgoldblum · 19/01/2024 15:34

Ahh but don't forget, he doesn't want to spend that , he's saving it for his children! 🙄

wildernesssw · 19/01/2024 15:36

Yes, important he replicates his nightmare childhood (and adulthood) for his children!

wildernesssw · 19/01/2024 15:37

Hence deciding to use their titles! Granted because of their toxic family...

Didn't he also say on the Oprah interview that he initially had no intention of doing things like the Netflix deal, but only did it for the money? I genuinely think he does not understand that he and his wife actually have to produce something in return for that money. I can't see their contract being renewed.

wildernesssw · 19/01/2024 15:49

yep, comes back to a very different understanding of how money comes in from you and me! Imagine actually having to do something, whether you like it or not, to be given money!

Mylovelygreendress · 19/01/2024 15:50

Have there been any announcements about the exciting new projects that have been alluded to over the last few months ? Anything else on Netflix ? The Invictus story is very worthy but wasn’t a huge ratings success.

wildernesssw · 19/01/2024 15:53

Now the strike is over I expect all projects will be full steam ahead, and I look forward to hearing about them!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/01/2024 16:01

I think he’s received poor legal advice. Even his wins have been marginal. I think there’s an imminent costs hearing on the Mirror case too - even though he won some of his claims, I think he will be getting a hefty bill for his losses.

Not that I've seen, and I really do think they need a success this year (as the Netflix deal expires next year)

Meghan was alluding to heaven-knows-what in terms of things she's excited about and can't wait to announce back in November, so I hope that will happen soon

I don’t think that’s it at all. He has the best lawyers. But lawyers do what they are paid to do. They will advise if it’s sensible if there is a reasonable chance of a win, but if the client still proceeds they will act on their wishes. I think this is what Harry wants to do, irrelevant of legal advice.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/01/2024 16:08

Something that makes you feel….feelings. Because no other telly does that.

I think Netflix is out. The same way Spotify is, I think there will be no further collaboration.

netflix sources said it was very difficult working with them on the docu series, they suddenly wanted it scripted, things had to be reshot, they messed about, and Netflix had to fact check what they said against the book spare and then reshoot segments as they directly contradicted themselves. Apparently they were an utter nightmare to work with.

i suspect this, as well as their lack of any skill set, and contentious /divisive reputation, and the fact they are now isolated from the royals, so no juice there, will make Netflix jettison them. It’s more when than if, and I suspect it’s already done and dusted.

I have to disagree. Some of the heads of claim in the Mirror case were ludicrous and easily disproven and/or simply not something a judge in this jurisdiction could make a decision about. The solicitor should be guiding their client about running with sensible claims. Anyway, it will all come out in the wash. He’s had so much litigation experience, maybe he should try going for a law degree and doing the California bar!

I agree. Harry has engaged Schillings, who are experts in media law and have acted on behalf of many clients in phone hacking cases. David Sherborne, his main lawyer, does have a reputation as something of a showman so he no doubt loves the attention gained by representing a member of the royal family. But he does know his stuff.

We were discussing above how Harry doesn't seem to understand that if people pay you money, they will expect something in return. I think the same is going on here. He doesn't get that if he loses a case, he will have to pay. A lot. I think his understanding of real world finances is incredibly lacking, even for a rich person.

DuchessOfPort · 19/01/2024 16:19

I can never see any evidence of Harry taking anyone’s advice ever.

Don’t rush into marriage, don’t release big and absolutely absurd statements to blindside the Queen, don’t sue the Mail for a fair comment, don’t talk to Omid Scobie any more, don’t write a tell all book gossiping about your family’s private details, don’t have key parts of your life filmed as though you always intended to have it made into a documentary, don’t release a bonkers statement about the world’s slowest “car chase” in NYC to try to draw some fantasy parallel with your dead mother, don’t moan you have no money publically when you’re a multimillionaire many times over, don’t tell everyone you asked QE2 if you could use her pet name as your daughter’s first name when you didn’t, etc etc.

Bet you he’s been told not to do every one of those things by either family, or anyone he pays to manage his image.

Yes his lawyers are excellent, and having lawyers in my family, I know very well they will advise a client clearly if they have limited chance of a win, but for certain clients, where there is a bigger income stream and wider picture, they will act as instructed, and always try to mediate then settle to get the best outcome , going to trial is always the worst case.

It’s not uncommon, many people want their day in court when it’s not advisable. And harry brings a mammoth income stream and profile.hes constantly suing someone. And they will be advising him honestly, not least to manage his expectations. But still acting on his instruction. This isn’t his lawyers fault. This is Harry.

Gardeningtime · 19/01/2024 16:31

agree, one of the staff from one of the agencies who worked with them said it was incredibly difficult, they said that harry and Megan only listen to each other, and egg each other on, validate each other, they completely ignore the experts advice or thoughts, and dictate what’s to be done.

its why time and time again they get it wrong. They don’t take the advice they simply pay these experts to act as they dictate, and ignore any advice to the contrary.

Maireas · 19/01/2024 16:32

The ghostwriter, J.R Moehringer, said the same. That was not an easy commission.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/01/2024 16:51

@Gardeningtime I have more direct experience than you from the sounds of it, but this particular murky world is only one I know from another angle. I can't really say more than that, but appreciate what you are saying about the more money than sense sort of client. The foolish vendettas of the monied is completely not what the court system is for, though. I found the Fancourt judgment giving me second hand embarrassment at times.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the Omid Scobie leaks? Basically, Harry's evidence may have proven his involvement with Scobie?

DelilahJane · 19/01/2024 18:01

It would be very interesting to know what documents the Mail asked for and which ones the court agreed would need to be supplied.

Oh yes it would. What would Harry essentially pay £750k to hide? Because the earlier statement from the judge would have had his lawyers saying to drop it then and there, and if true to form he ignored that but has now given in, the penny may have dropped on something he hasn’t thought of. And Meghan must agree!

Can we ever find out? As in; not the content but “emails between Harry and X between this date and this date”.
