The royals and Dan Wootton: Byline Times part 1 of 3-year investigation into how Wootton got information about the royal family

Following their series about the Crisis in British Journalism and MediaToo movement, Byline Times reporters have recently released the first report of the 3 year investigation into the link between the royals and (disgraced) TV presenter Dan Wootton.

The first report reveals how Charles and William were angered that Harry refused to remove the name of an aide (William's aide in Kensington) who was paid cash to leak stories about his wife Meghan, and son Archie. This included investigations by the Met.

As a result, Charles removed the $700,000 granted to support them, which would have seen Harry and Meghan living in Canada and representing the Queen, in an effort to bring them back to the UK by exposing their location in Canada and removing their security. This was the collapse of the 'Sandringham Agreement', which resulted in the signing of the Sussexes media deals.

Some highlights, but can be bought for £3.6:

▪ It followed news that a partner of a key aide to Prince William received £4,000 from The Sun allegedly for stories about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when Wootton was executive editor.

▪ The Metropolitan Police looked into the alleged leaking but could not go to a judge for a warrant to search royal staff property without knowing the identity of the whistle-blowers.

▪ Two internal royal investigations followed – one involving Simon Case, who is today the embattled head of the civil service facing questions over the Government’s response to the pandemic.

▪ Byline Times has uncovered new photographic evidence of Wootton, the aide and the aide’s partner at a lavish private birthday party Wootton threw for his close friends in a £1,675-a-night hotel suite.

▪ Prince Harry sent formal ‘letters before action’ detailing the claims about Wootton and the palace to News UK.

▪ When the aide’s name was not removed from the legal letters, the Sussexes were cut adrift financially and left unable to protect themselves despite having a security threat level equal to the monarch.

▪ The royal household had thought the threat of exposure would force Harry and Meghan to return to the UK, where their profile could be controlled preventing them from eclipsing the future King

Have to say the Board is much calmer without some very prominent names.

Have to say the Board is much calmer without some very prominent names.

It's nice not to have every discussion descend into yet another repetitive, circular argument about Meghan's 'treatment'.

Hughs · 08/04/2024 15:46

My all-time least favourite is "what could possibly be the reason? 🤔"

As in:

Me: makes some remark about how people shouldn't spread rumours about K having anorexia or being in a coma.

Poster: "so you're happy for Meghan to suffer online abuse but not Kate hey? So why the double standard I wonder? What could possibly be the reason? 🤔"

Prydddan · 08/04/2024 16:14

I miss "goady". A rich word that I've only ever seen here, and then only recently.

Janiie · 08/04/2024 16:17

'The reporting! Gosh, some people must have got repetitive strain injury what with all the pressing of “Report”. I even got deleted ages ago for suggesting Harry had had a hair transplant.'

I used to be called a hater . Just because I criticised bad behaviour.

Oh my God 🤣! Thinking Meghan should be consulted about the monarchy!
That's actually hilarious 😂
Yes, we're going to ask that woman that opened a suitcase on that quiz show about how to run the Prince's Trust, deal with Ambassadors and meet with Macron 🙄

Hughs · 08/04/2024 16:56

That moment when they were still here and declared they were "single-handedly modernising the monarchy despite officials being too afraid to harness their power" was the moment I thought, hmm, there may be trouble ahead...

It was a couple of days after the interview in Africa when she said nobody asks if she's ok.

Corinthiana · 08/04/2024 16:57

"harness their power"! 😂
What, the power of the word salad?!

The "Whistleblowers" episode on Vintage Read explained the history behind the comments on the DW page. She also attended a Sussex Squad online !meeting and describes the dynamics. She ties it into the deliberate erosion of freedom of speech.

I love this YouTube channel, @BemusedAmerican , so I'm really glad you've lined it. Shauna is, imo, really measured and well researched.

TVR video called "Pile on Catherine," about just how far back in years the campaign against her goes, and their origins in the USA, is really interesting and disturbing.

I also love her book readings. She's recently done a long serialisation of "The Housekeeper's Diary", written by Charles and Diana's housekeeper at Highgrove during the troubled last years of their marriage. It was banned in the UK, so it's great to get a chance to hear about what was going on from her perspective.

Actually, while Dan Wooten has done his investigation into the SS, very much from the point of view of his own grievance, Shauna at the Vintage Read and various other YouTubers have looked at it from a less self centered point of view, and I think the video you link is a really good overview of the work of those (mostly female) commentators to get to the bottom of all the anti RF attacks. The Royal Grift channel also does a great job of tying it in to the attacks of free speech carried out by bodies like The Aspen Institute.

That link is one of the most fucking insane things I have ever read! It would be so funny reading their utterly deranged dross, if their aim of undermining the RF and the stability in the UK - however far fetched that ambition might be - wasn't so serious, and if their way of going about it wasn't to try to destroy peoples' lives.

Hughs · 08/04/2024 17:12

Yes, they said it - or at least there were press reports quoting a briefing to CNN from "their allies" / "sources in the Sussex camp" / "a source close to the couple". It was kind of odd at the time that they kept briefing the US press, but it makes more sense now.

Something else that's nice at the moment btw is not having someone pop up with "but what about Andrew" all the bloody time 😅

I could never figure out why people thought every negative comment about M+H (on a thread about them) should include a disclaimer acknowledging that Andrew has also done bad things.

Vespanest · 08/04/2024 17:15

Charles had sort of made a rod for his own back. He used the Duchy money to provide a platform for William and Harry as equal brothers that was not long term and gave the impression to Harry that he was as valued in the hierarchy sense that never happened to Andrew, Edward and Anne, due to the age of Queen the siblings all knew their place. The rumours are that he had asked if the Duchy would be split once the queen died. Which would make sense with his thinking of equal standing and him and Meghan better candidates.

Hughs · 08/04/2024 17:18

There are some classics on that SS website..

Two things that give you power are capital and connections. Harry and Meghan have all the power, all the connections, a great team that respects their privacy who work as hard as they do, and, everybody who is anybody wanting to work with them.
If you are a creative in the entertainment industry, you are currently by your phone 24/7 hoping for that phone call. If you are a charity, business, designer, creative you want the Sussex’s. Our faves have reached the “don’t call us, we’ll call you’ phase”.
We are going to see our faves moving from strength to strength and the hater bridge who is living in an alternative universe where Harry and Meghan are failing, they’re going to continue to be shocked and surprised.

Meghan would be a better Queen is that?

Now we know who was puffing up her heid with complete and utter shite. Like it could happen.

Again though, another snidey dig at his beloved sister in law.

If Harry says he loves you or shows any sign of liking you, it would have to be taken with a tipper load of salt.

The way he speaks (and has spoken) about his family too shows that there is only one beloved.

And it ain’t Meghan.

ArcaneWireless · 08/04/2024 17:34

And if Harry could direct some blood to his brain instead of his boaby, he’d maybe realise that Meghan is as suitable to be Queen as a banana.

Harry never showed an interest in managing an estate. William went on a college course about estate management, Harry chose not to.

Corinthiana · 08/04/2024 17:48

It gets worse. Vile.

MaturingCheeseball · 08/04/2024 17:50

The cheek of the pair thinking they were going to have Windsor Castle. To entertain Hollywood A-listers, no less. The Queen gave that short shrift.

Maybe for five minutes they were the hot glamorous pair - but no way does that give you equal billing with W&K, and it certainly doesn’t excuse you from opening a community centre in Skegness.

It's going to be entertaining when Harry comes back for the Invictus 10 year anniversary service this May.
I'm thinking he'll thank his family for giving him such a prestigious and worthwhile project.
