George's exams

Kate is not going with william to Singapore as George has important exams. What exams would a 10 year old be sitting in November?
I know nothing about private school systems so hoping someone here does.

Catherine has a job as a royal. If she didn't want that role, she should have followed her sisters lead and married a billionaire.

Funnily, It seems she picks and chooses what she constitutes as work.

What she would like to attend versus what she'd rather try and use as a flimsy excuse to get out of attending.

Prince George will get into any school his parents want for him, and she damn well knows this. As PP has said, all the rather thick royals have always got a place in elite schools, despite them being as thick as pigs shit.

I have absolutely nothing against the girl. She's playing the game to perfection, but all this fawning over her makes me sick.

She doesn't want to fucking go....simples

But as pp have said, this is Earthshot, William’s project. It’s not an official Royal Engagement. William doesn’t always accompany Catherine when she goes to Early years projects

smilesy · 02/10/2023 20:07

I don't think he covered himself in glory with his poor A level results hence he joined the army.

It’s not exactly easy to get in to Sandhurst. There are quite high academic requirements. Many applicants have degrees. There is also quite a challenging interview process and high standards of physical fitness. Whether you intended to or not, you have made it sound like he went to Sandhurst because he wasn’t clever enough to do anything else. Whereas in fact, you do need a certain level of achievement to go there

Then this is the reason that should have been given. To protect George. There was no need to mention him or his exams. This was a misstep on their part.

I really don’t like the speculation surrounding George. This thread is uncomfortable but still pretty tame compared to other comments all over SM.

This is how I feel about all of the children. Don’t use them and give them their full privacy until at least 16-18 when they are able to make their own choices (public/private life). I recognise that this may not be a popular opinion.

That would make for a good discussion, perhaps. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Blankscreen · 02/10/2023 20:19

I expect he could 10 % in the exam and still get in.

Wills and Kate obviously aren't worried about VAT on the fees!

Blankscreen · 02/10/2023 20:20

I think the fact that Granny was head of the armed forces probably helped with his application.

Very possibly, but my point was that Sandhurst in itself was not the non academic easy option that pp made it sound (intentionally or not)

Yes there are a million things KP could have said- from 'It's Wiliams thing and about the prizewinners down to their usual excuse for not doing something - she wants to be around for the kids.Their PR are still going with the beatification of Kate the ordinary stay at home ' just like you' mum when they should have told the press nothing instead of inviting specilation about what exams George was doing at 10.

Dabralor · 02/10/2023 20:28

Doing really serious exams when you are 10 sounds shit, I'm not surprised Kate is staying behind to help him out. Hopefully she's making his favourite teas and getting the Lego out.

TeenLifeMum · 02/10/2023 20:32

As much as I didn’t think much of the SATs exams, I wouldn’t have left dtds (age 10) for work during that time. There’s nothing wrong with work life balance that enables you to be there for your dc.

What about if ya granny is da Queen , do those rules still apply ?

Quite agree and it goes for Grandpa and Uncle Ed's rather indifferent A-levels magically by-passing usual Cambridge requirements too. Philip is alleged to have said 'What a friend we have in Jesus' when Eddie got the nod which made very much ex-Baptist moi guffaw rather uncharacteristically where the royals are concerned.

If the Duchess of Dolittle isn't going to support Willy's best effort at being down with the zeitgeist and achingly relevant it's not because she's worried about George failing an assessment aimed at privately educated 10/11 year olds.

It's not like he's sitting the very much stiffer competition for a place at a state grammar.

LittleMrsPretty · 02/10/2023 20:35

I do t think they will care about Georges exam results, any school would take him regardless .

But there hasn’t been an official announcement! The DM quote sources .
Unless you know different?

BasiliskStare · 02/10/2023 20:44

It will be interesting to see where K&W send their children. Eton ( apart from anything else ) is near Windsor Castle so 2 boys can come home at the weekend to see GP's / Parents easily. I think Harry had to take the exams a few times & possibly apart from anything else Gordonstoun would have suited him. But K and family - Marlborough so maybe there . I think they will try and make things normal but I am not holding my breath for a state school for any of the 3. But I don't know.

You’re quite right. I strongly dislike it when posters do the same to Harry and Meghan. I wonder if anyone can pinpoint the source for whatever excuse/reason that has been given?

Georgiepud · 02/10/2023 20:48

Maybe it's just internal exams/tests on Ancient Greece before moving onto World War 2. Not Sats, they're next year and George's school won't be practising them week in week out.
None of anyone's business really.

Abra1t · 02/10/2023 20:49

Perhaps doing the exams means something to George himself? Perhaps he is nervous? Feels under pressure? Wants one of his parents around?

I have up work opportunities to stay at home with my son when he had exams at the same age.

Exactly my point! If his parents were the ones who released this information, then unfortunately they can’t be surprised if people start asking questions. That’s why it’s best to keep personal information about the children to yourself.

Dabralor · 02/10/2023 20:52

I'd hope the rules would apply actually, because the soldiers he'd be in charge of would be in massive danger otherwise. A snobby school accepting thicko royals for PR is one thing, but the British Army is another.

MissElinorDashwood · 02/10/2023 20:52

Gordonstoun would have suited him.

Not sure if you’ve heard, but that was a lucky escape. Best not to discuss on a public forum. Will need a trigger warning 😒

dressedforcomfort · 02/10/2023 20:55

I'm fairly sure being 2nd in line to the throne will get him into any private school in the country without needing to pass an exam....

Samcro · 02/10/2023 20:57

I do agree with the posters who have said it’s unfair on George that this is made public.
it puts pressure on a small boy who for all we know might not be academic.

WhatAPalaverer · 02/10/2023 20:57

I assumed w&k had moved to windsor in preparation of George going to Eton so they can be seen to be involved with him at the weekends whilst still making sure he’s forging the right connections with the future politicians and business leaders.

ladeluge · 02/10/2023 20:59

Why are Private schools known as "Public" schools? They are not an option for most of the public. But maybe there is an historical reason.
