George's exams

Kate is not going with william to Singapore as George has important exams. What exams would a 10 year old be sitting in November?
I know nothing about private school systems so hoping someone here does.

As if Eton are going to turn him down 😂

If they let Harry in I'm sure George will make the grade!

And this

In all probability they wouldn’t turn him down, but he still needs to take the exams, and what’s wrong with him trying to do well? Everyone else will have to get in on merit so it’s not going to a good look if he’s not seem to be putting in the effort. And it’s rather patronising to assume he isn’t capable of passing. His mum was fairly academic and his dad did quite well 🤷‍♀️

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 02/10/2023 17:48

Typical example of "damned if you, damned if you dont".

They are following the correct procedure. I would have thought that he is bound for Eton, but who knows?

I hope whereever he goes it's demonstrably on merit. His life will be miserable otherwise.

everetting · 02/10/2023 18:22

There is no damned. Kate has said though she can't go to Singapore as George has exams. So reasonable to ask what exams a 10 year old would be doing.

Kate not going is noticeable because William is a bit boring and the press were hoping for her alongside to make the whole thing a bit more interesting.

lots of year 6 kids have exams and tests. We live in Kent and 11+ happened a few weeks ago.

they might not be going for Eaton and want options for year 7 entry schools. George has moved schools twice already, going to one in Norfolk then one in London now in Berkshire as they’ve moved where their family base is, so they might not be sticking though to year 9.

LimeCheesecake · 02/10/2023 18:46

And yes, it’s going to be important for them to know how George can do exams wise. It’s all good and well saying that any school would take him, but as Harry showed, being significantly lower ability academically than all your classmates can damage self esteem.

I’d assume they’re going to use the results he gets from tests now to help them work out which school would be the best for him.

I do think Will and Kate are both pretty workshy, but this is understandable.

I saw this and was a bit surprised that she isn't going on a work trip.

Isn't it more that she's not going with Hubby on HIS work trip cos of the kids? Imagine lots of parents in Kate's position would prioritise their child over supporting DH

everetting · 02/10/2023 18:53

We have no idea if Harry was lower ability or just lazy at school.

doris9034 · 02/10/2023 15:42

isn't the point that Catherine is prioritising her children by staying at home to support George, rather than travelling overseas?

Most prep schools have exams twice a year, and I don't think she's missed anything because of them before.

So I think this Autumn must have added importance, and pre-tests do seem to be the obvious reason.

Perhaps they want him at a school for which he meets the normal standard?

And Eton is a likely choice, if he makes the grade o(r somewhere near it) because security officers can be housed in staff accommodation at Windsor Castle

Wasn't it announced by them/their people? How would we know otherwise?

Every article I have seen is quoting the DM who, in turn , are quoting “ sources.”
So, nothing official.

Did you not read the story about his teacher quitting because she refused to do his coursework for him and she was virtually ordered to do so. She said he shouldn't be given more support than the other children she taught but they were brighter and didn't need lots of help. I don't think he covered himself in glory with his poor A level results hence he joined the army.

MrsFinkelstein · 02/10/2023 19:25

As pp's have said she's damned if she does and damned if she didn't.

As far as I can see KP only commented because of persistent enquiries from the Press.

And the idea that there wouldn't have been endless speculation flying if she just hadn't turned up with William in Singapore is laughable! Of course it would have been commented on/criticised.

Lovely how a thread about George, still gets the Harry bashing

Going through your parent's messy divorce followed by losing a parent would have something to do with it.

Or severely traumatised….don’t forget this was a 12 year old who convinced himself that his mother was still alive and in hiding from the press/paps.

crumpet · 02/10/2023 19:41

I seem to remember that Harry was not originally destined for Eton, but after Diana’s death he was kept closer to home. Not sure whether he was en route to Gordounstone or somewhere

FluffyCatBonzo · 02/10/2023 19:44

Didn't Meghan stay at home with the children instead of attending the Coronation? What's the issue here?

SausageinaBun · 02/10/2023 19:44

No matter who you are, it isn't fun to be one of the weaker students in a selective school. Maybe George is natural Eton material. But if he isn't, hopefully they will have the sense to send him somewhere that will suit him better.

Cozzadelsol · 02/10/2023 19:56

Catherine has a job as a royal. If she didn't want that role, she should have followed her sisters lead and married a billionaire.

Funnily, It seems she picks and chooses what she constitutes as work.

What she would like to attend versus what she'd rather try and use as a flimsy excuse to get out of attending.

Prince George will get into any school his parents want for him, and she damn well knows this. As PP has said, all the rather thick royals have always got a place in elite schools, despite them being as thick as pigs shit.

I have absolutely nothing against the girl. She's playing the game to perfection, but all this fawning over her makes me sick.

She doesn't want to fucking go....simples
