George's exams

Kate is not going with william to Singapore as George has important exams. What exams would a 10 year old be sitting in November?
I know nothing about private school systems so hoping someone here does.

I don’t think the proceeds were being donated

The profits for the Grenfell cookbook were donated

Serenster · 10/10/2023 18:28

The Bench was a purely commercial endeavour, though Meghan did donate a few copies (five as specified in the original draft in the press release, but then replaced with “many”, presumably to make them sound more generous) when she visited the school chosen for the publicity trip.

Basically - W and C posting photos of their DC, talking about them or including them in an official event is terrible parenting.
H and M using their DC to make Netflix money - so cute and wonderful parenting.

Why do you make things so black and white? It's odd

Iwantcakeeveryday · 10/10/2023 18:33

The royal family will only continue to be funded if the public will is there and that means the public who support them want and expect to see their children. There is no use pretending that the family are not obligated to provide the public, via the media, with a look into their private lives in order to remain in their roles. They are all paid for access, and their children are part of the deal and always have been. Many of us object to monarchy in part because of this.

Exactly. Some posters make out we hardly see any of the W&K children. We see lots of them. I could say more here, but better not.

EasternStandard · 10/10/2023 18:44

It probably depends what you follow and read

I don’t follow their IG, and won’t seek out the type of media

The only time I see them is Wimbledon really (and I don’t particularly need to tbh) or royal event (which is understandable)

None of them can or should keep their children locked away from he world so nobody ever sees them, that would be no way to live. Being careful what you share and how often, is what some posters are suggesting. It’s not an all or nothing choice. A few shared photos or images is not over- exposing your children.

I think this is what W&K do. Carefully selected images

Never as an advert for a book she has written, and is selling for personal profit, though.

i don’t see a difference.
kate uses children to highlight her causes. Meghan did the same

Howsimplywonderful · 10/10/2023 18:53

There’s a difference between ‘highlighting charitable causes’ and ‘promoting your book for profit’

i’m surprised some people won’t see the difference

Howsimplywonderful · 10/10/2023 18:55

Or should I edit to

There’s a difference between ‘highlighting charitable causes’ and ‘promoting your book for profit’

’i’m unsurprised some people won’t see the difference’ ?

Reading NOOKS to 5 (or 8) locations.

And Meghan had previously already donated over 2,000 books for schools. So yes, I think that is quite generous on both accounts.

At least aim to get this correct if you are going to criticise or use this as a stick to beat them with.

queentim · 10/10/2023 18:59

I would say I'm surprised a thread about George abd Kate turned into a thread about Meghan, but I'd be lying 😂

Samcro · 10/10/2023 19:00

Meghan has to earn a living. Kate doesn’t.

Howsimplywonderful · 10/10/2023 19:04

@Samcro

That's interesting

so it’s okay to use other people’s kids if you have an expensive lifestyle to maintain ?

Or do bath pictures if the price is right

But discussing your child’s education without being paid is exploitation

Ditto. Trouble is, there isn't anything to see or say about H&M at the moment, so no threads, and some posters just have to have their fix !

Serenster · 10/10/2023 19:13

Nonsense Roussette, they’ve been out and about today and Meghan released a video!

Also, Queentim, I apologise, you are quite right, it was five reading nooks (no, I have no idea either 🤣) not reading books that were donated.

Interesting though, it was also a representative from Penguin Random House who changed a line in their own press release stating that Meghan was donating the nooks, replacing 'five' with 'many' to make it seem like a larger number. Why would they care about making Meghan look more generous? Perhaps PRH was actually funding the nooks?

Um RF threads are fairly well visited no matter the views

I guess people find it a draw

Yes. I was talking about H and M threads which follow the usual path. This was about George and Kate but seems to have meandered....

@Angrycat2768
"It's always been the case that aristo's etc went to Eton."
Well, K. Charles, P.Andrew and P.Edward all went to Gordonstoun, although it has been reported that K.Charles did not like it there.
The Late Duke of Westminster went to Harrow, but did not like it, and sent his own son elsewhere (Ellesmere College), so not Eton.
There are plenty of other prestigious schools around that P. George could be sent to.
However, Eton is near to Windsor, so close to family.

Did Meghan drag them screaming off the street without their parents permission?

where did I use the word exploration

Serenster · 10/10/2023 19:57

Did Meghan drag them screaming off the street without their parents permission?

No, but she did ask their parents to sign a release preventing them from saying anything about the event without prior permission, and preventing them from anything negative at all. There was, clearly, a massive inbalance of power between the Duchess and her team and the parents too.

wordler · 10/10/2023 20:01

The thing about public/private schools, and universities is they are always begging for money. I went to a state school but DH's family and DSC all went to a variety of private schools - not a week of the year goes by without one of them sending a letter begging for alumni donations.

All the public schools and all the universities need George to pick them far more than he needs to get in. His attendance will attract a rush of rich families who want to chance to network with his parents at school activities, or have the chance to say their child is at school with the heir, or have a chance of their child becoming friends with the heir.

So he will, of course, get into any school or university of his choice. But if Kate and William are caring parents they will use the exams and assessments to find the right school for him and his siblings.

I'd imagine with the experience of family who have been sent to a school which didn't fit their personality (Charles), their academic ability (Harry) and have experienced bullying (Kate) that they will be in the best position so far to make a good choice rather than the expected one.

I think William had a good time at Eton but if George's exam results show that he'd be better off at a different place I'd bet they'd go for that.

FluffyCatBonzo · 10/10/2023 20:01

Roussette · 10/10/2023 17:16

you then agree that H and M were wrong to use such intimate footage of their young children in their documentary? Or is that somehow different?

I've answered this till I'm blue in the face and really CBA to go there again.

I must have missed it then. Are you able to summarise?

Did she force them to sign it?
i assume they could say no and walk away
