George's exams

Kate is not going with william to Singapore as George has important exams. What exams would a 10 year old be sitting in November?
I know nothing about private school systems so hoping someone here does.

Windsor Wine is naff and obviously cashing in on her royal connections!
Are you her agent? You've given Zara and this clothing brand oodles of publicity on this thread. 😂😂

Daisyislazy · 06/10/2023 16:33

Did they sell them out or did they include some family time ?

Did they get paid by Netflix for including that family time in their documentary?

Roussette · 06/10/2023 16:46

Serenster... call me stupid I don't care. I do not understand your point about Meghan wearing a shirt.
Sorry. Don't get it.

No need to explain it to me though.

Derxa... I only mentioned the brand once? Not sure what you mean therefore.

I will admit to being a bit tired of your posts today, you started early first thing with a sarky comment to me, and it hasn't stopped!

Serenster · 06/10/2023 16:58

Roussette - you said

I just find 'Windsor Wine' for a coat she is wearing for a modelling contract a bit much. Can you even begin to imagine if Meghan did this?

You subsequently said that Windsor Wine is naff and obviously cashing in on her royal connections

You then speculated that people would look for examples of Meghan doing this. I just responded to you!

We don’t need to imagine what would happen if Meghan did this, as she has been involved in a similar situation.

Meghan has famously worn a shirt the name of which was guaranteed to (and clearly did) attract considerable press attention. Like a name like “Windsor Wine” is clearly also intended to do. It’s clever marketing - whether of the brand, in Zara’s case, or possibly the brand, but definitely Meghan herself in Meghan’s case. The coverage of Meghan was not negative.

The only person who seems to be reacting negatively to a clever piece of marketing here is you, branding Zara modelling this coat “a bit much” and “naff”. I just think both Musto and Meghan did some clever marketing…

Serenster · 06/10/2023 17:01

Anyway, if Meghan and Harry ever launch a brand mentioning Sussex, Royal or Windsor anything, I‘ll wait with bated breath for that to be deemed naff too. Somehow I doubt it 😀

Daisyislazy · 06/10/2023 17:02

@Serenster I don't believe including them in the documentary was betraying them

Roussette · 06/10/2023 17:04

We are going round and round and round in circles with this.

Zara has a contract to model clothes for a brand. For money. Here

Meghan does not. She is not 'doing this'. Whatever that shirt is, she is not the face of the brand and modelling clothes for their Autumn/Winter collection 2023. At her home. With videos.

You think it is the same.

I don't.

And that's all I can say on it. <bangs head repeatedly on desk, then goes to fridge to open wine>
🤣

No head-scratching required - Meghan wore the Mishka Nonoo “husband” shirt for her very first public appearance with Harry at the Invictus games which gained her acres and acres of press around the world. None of it negative though.

She wasn't a paid model using the Windsor name for profit. They're not comparable.

I’m already on the wine Roussette! Enjoy yours 😀

Windsor Wine? Sorry couldn't resist. (In case of doubt this is a joke!)😀

Roussette · 06/10/2023 17:27

I wonder what it tastes like?!

Plummy, old leather saddles and a hint of cigar box 😂

CraftyGin · 06/10/2023 17:32

Exams they take at their prospective senior schools in Y5/6/7 are called pre-tests. IME, these are the key exams to 'pass'. When my DSs went through this, the exams were set by the senior school, but ISEB now offer this service in addition.

I don't think I have known anyone for fail their CE (13+). It's typical for boys to just have one prospective senior school, as they will have already been earmarked at the pre-screening stage.

For girls, it's typical to have 3 or 4 senior schools on the go at the 11+ stage.

Can anyone name a single equestrian who is a household name outside of horsey circles today, other than Zara?

Mark Todd, Nick Skelton, Ben Maher and Charlotte Dujardin immediately spring to mind…(not remotely horsey, but like sports, especially the Olympics)

How about Harvey Smith - who renamed a whole gesture!!

I could name loads of others, possibly because I was v horsey when younger. My Mum had a huge crush on Eddie Macken, also fervently supported Paddy McMahon.

Roussette · 06/10/2023 15:05

Zara had all the openings, she followed her Mother's footsteps, that doesn't take away from her talent in that area, but the doors were open and ready for her!

She also followed her father's footsteps, and he was pretty much self-made (and is now pretty wealthy, as an extremely well respected course designer and chef d'equipe for the US team)

I think any child of his could well have made it to the top levels, even had he not married a royal (think of the Whittaker clan)

Lots of people follow their famous/successful sporting parent - look at Peter and Liz McColgan and Eilish, or Graham Hill and Damon, or Keke Rosburg and Nico. I think it's to do with belief and confidence, rather than just whether parents can open doors or buy kit (as there are loads of other parents who could do that but have DC who just don't make the grade)

Whereas it was hard to get away from the headlines about Zara being the face of Musto for their Autumn and Winter campaign

I am another one who never saw a thing about this, and I follow several royal fashion instagram accounts and lots of mainstream fashion instagram's too.

I've just googled the company - trying to find out when Zara's association with them began. Website says 16 years ago. She co-designed a part of their equestrian range.

They were established in 1964, held a Royal Warrant (ER II and Prince Phillip) from 2010 (presumably ended on their deaths?), are the official supplier to the RNLI (1989)

They sponsored Ellen MacArthur (1994) and other sailors and boats; other equestrians including William Fox-Pitt. And it was worn by Simon Le Bonin the Whitbread Round the World Race in the 1980s (makes me think of those yacht videos in a different way now I know that!)

Old news then.

So it is sports related ? , which would fit with her profile, Guess if you are in that circle it may be well known, but outside the circle it wouldn't be of interest to most people and certainly not headlines everywhere.
