George's exams

Kate is not going with william to Singapore as George has important exams. What exams would a 10 year old be sitting in November?
I know nothing about private school systems so hoping someone here does.

@SSerenster then why does every discussion or article about william and Kate either have the children involved, or talk about Harry and meghan?
If people were really interested in william and Kate this would not be necessary.
You didn't get every article about the Queen talking about her sisters partying and affairs. People were interested in the Queen.

I don’t believe they do, everretting. A Google news search for Kate this week shows 262 articles about her three visits this week particularly to Hull yesterday. Only one article leads with her children and that was because she was given rugby league jumpers with their names on the back st the visit.

CathyorClaire · 06/10/2023 10:09

I see this as a terrible rumour, started by someone who has an axe to grind.

Yet you've happily shared it here.

everetting · 06/10/2023 10:13

I said or Harry and meghan.

And it's not about what articles lead with. Articles may lead with something like, william visited x place yesterday. But quickly go on to say, this contrasts with Harry who visited x in 2001 and did y.
Virtually every time.
And the children are mentioned a lot in the media. It makes me very uneasy.

If an article mentioning Harry and Meghan get 10000 commentsxsnd one about Kate gets 200 comments the revenue from one article is far larger. They will not bother headlining with that when they can headline with MEGHAN MARKLE SPOTTED WALKING DOWN THE STREET' will get thousands more comments about her wanting privacy do why is she walking down the street?

Just because the public are interested in the children does not mean that interest should be satisfied.

There is a proper public interest in George, as he is in the direct line.

And the siblings tend to get lumped together, as they are (age permitting) together so much of the time.

There's also a public interest in George growing up to be able to carry out his future public role, so some understanding of his parents' public lives and age-appropriate introduction to crowds and ceremonies can be seen as a necessary element of that.

Extraordinary isn't it?

Who'd wish that on a little boy. To have your life mapped out for you.

Oh well...

Who will think of the children?
My brother was expected to be a farmer like thousands of other farmers' progeny. Doctor's children often follow their parents into medicine etc. etc.
George can make his own choice. Edward VIII did. Harry opted out.

Serenster · 06/10/2023 11:04

Yes - I was about to say the same thing Derxa, coming from a multi-generational farming family! Children all over the world are born with set expectations (Disney made an amazing movie about it, even!).

everetting · 06/10/2023 11:07

My family are farmers, I am not nor is my brother. Our decision not to take over the family farm did not cause a constitutional crisis. It is not the same.
The Queen refused to have anything to do with her uncle and his wife for many years because he did not follow his fate.

everetting · 06/10/2023 11:14

Aye they are. Sheep and arable farmers.
Except the family farm was given up. My nephew is still farming though. Mainly contract tractor driving.

Gee whizz there are a whole load of nasty and jealous people on this thread.

Howsimplywonderful · 06/10/2023 11:40

I’m sure George will be fine. He seems to be brought up by lovely and engaged parents.

There are so many children around the world far more in need of your concern.

pilates · 06/10/2023 11:58

I think the current Royals are more aware than predecessors of the need to protect their families from press intrusion, etc. Having a strong supportive family unit helps with stability and future happiness. It does feel the current Royals are watered down and moving with the times. Not so rigid and regimented. Even since the Queen’s passing they appear more relaxed which is good imo.

derxa · 06/10/2023 12:17

Some people do seem incredibly threatened by her. People are threatened by goodness

everetting · 06/10/2023 12:18

No one is threatened by Kate. Such a bizarre suggestion.

Well, given the incredible amount of threads about Meghan and the nasty comments on them, the same could be said there too.

This thread has had some mild criticism of Kate, the extreme reactions to that are quite interesting given the far more seriously nasty things said about others.

Roussette · 06/10/2023 12:23

Threatened by Kate? Threatened by her goodness?

Ye gods, this thread is bonkers!

Yes, Kate is genuinely kind, quite beautiful and clearly devoted to her family and her duty. She literally never puts a foot wrong.

Wilde:

"Those who find ugly meanings in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming."

Howsimplywonderful · 06/10/2023 12:33

What’s bonkers is 300 posts about a parent and their child taking education seriously.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 06/10/2023 12:35

She literally never puts a foot wrong.

That is ridiculous and demonstrably false. She doesn't need to, nor should she be expected to be perfect. That is an unnecessary and unattainable goal and no woman needs to be put under pressure to be perfect no matter who she is. Kate has and will make mistakes, in her role as future Queen and as a mother, and thats fine. We are all flawed.

Angrycat2768 · 06/10/2023 12:36

I think it's more interesting how Royalists are threatened by mild criticism of an incredibly privileged family who in all likelihood will continue to be the Royal Family for generations to come, even if William and Kate told us all to fuck off and that they had no intention of doing anything at all until they get their hands in The Crown. They would still get people falling over themselves to defend and excuse them.
