It’ll soon be crunch time for the UK’s support for Invictus.
The 10th Anniversary service is being held in the UK in May, and we’ll be watching closely to see how the UK handles it.
Will the media focus of the veterans, and how a decade of Invictus has impacted their lives, with facts and figures and individual stories and experiences?
Will the UK government seize the opportunity to shine the spotlight on veterans issues, put proposals on the table for more funding, more efforts to integrate veterans into employment or reskilling, more support for their carers, including respite support?
Will the BBC do a documentary on “10 Years of Invictus Games”?
Will UK Government ministers and members of the royal family make a show of support, and demonstrate that they care about veterans, not least because they’re trying to win Invictus for Birmingham as host city in 2027?
Or will the lot of them continue ignoring the veterans and Invictus, opting instead to make the whole thing about petty royal family squabbling with Prince Harry and Meghan, and the usual boring and pathetic gossip and drama bla bla bla?
Will the UK rise to the occasion???
