There's an event that's going to allow people to try out some adaptive sports! This looks like a great idea and opportunity for local people to try

Join Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 for Unconquered Sports Day!

"Celebrate the One Year to Go Countdown and try adaptive sports featured in the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 presented by ATCO.

This FREE Family Day event is open to all ages and abilities. Under the guidance of sport experts, attendees will rotate through stations including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, indoor rowing and wheelchair curling.

Taking place on the Parade Square of the historic Seaforth Armoury, this sports day is a special opportunity to visit the home of the Seaforth Highlanders. Tours will be available throughout the day."

'Should be the baby alpacas be allowed to keep their royal titles - especially given what those lying turds M&H said about the palace not allowing them to keep them?'

I know! it's bizarre isn't it. Prince Archie and Princess Lil aren't allowed to be called... Prince Archie and Princess Lil Grin

Lovely idea!

Is it open to anyone?

I kinda wish I could make the trip to have a go…

YupIKnow · 18/02/2024 21:04

Oprah isn't daft - she has removed all the Twitter stuff about that interview and racism.

Incompetent and not switched on but powerful enough to scrub the entire internet.

Yes it is

... clearly the work of the naughty baby alpacas.

They do kinda look like fluffy sponges, so I can just imagine brainless Oprah grabbing one, gettin' down on 'er hands 'n' knees on the internet and havin' a go at it.

Maybe brainless Meghan gave her a hand too, in a gigantic snub to the late queen, who so loved alpacas, unless they were named Lilibet.

skullbabe · 18/02/2024 22:10

I’m so sorry I’m in bits picturing Lilibet the alpaca 🦙- my dog has actually come
up to me with a concern paw because that has tickeld me pink. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🙃🤣

Yes she was first off the blocks immediately after the death of HMQ to set up a special interview with Gayle King to distance herself from the negative impact of her H&M interview on the RF once she sensed the where the sentiment lay.

What Twitter stuff specifically did she delete exactly?

A simple search shows her tweets are there. You don't need to make things up. It's weird

Not powerful enough it seems 😂😂

JSMill · 19/02/2024 05:19

@Janiie you are absolutely right. She did show herself up by just swallowing what she was fed by H and M in that interview and not challenging or questioning anything. She has indeed made billions but that's because she's a very smart businesswoman not the world's greatest journalist.

The British Royal Family are not held in the same regard by people outside of the UK and maybe the Commonwealth. Why would Oprah Winfrey care about supposed British sentiment? Gayle King and Oprah have been friends for over 30 years and Gayle interviews Oprah quite regularly. Gayle was interviewing Oprah about a Sidney Poitier special and the interview, in the context of the Queen dying the week prior, was brought up. Because it was news. And Gayle would have been an idiot journalist not to have. But I find it fascinating how so many have a really inflated idea of the importance of the BRF to people outside of their sphere. To imagine Oprah - one of the most powerful women in the world running to find a forum to distance herself from her work - is actually ludicrous and if you know anything about how she operates , is not actually how she does things. She’s weathered many a scandal - her approach to them is very similar to the royal mantra of never explain never complain.

Janiie · 19/02/2024 09:03

'But I find it fascinating how so many have a really inflated idea of the importance of the BRF to people outside of their sphere'

Gayle and winfry cannot get anough of the BRF! You do know that's why they excitedly talk about them and oprah 'interviewed' them, not cos Markle was in suits?

Something celebratory to look forward to (and perhaps to donate to too as it’s a fundraiser?)

It’s a good reminder that wars are still tragically raging across the world, generating tens of thousands of injured veterans, many of whom are recent conscripts who barely spent any time in the military before being sent to the frontline.

Those who seem incapable of seeing Invictus as anything other than another front in their hatred campaign against H&M would do well to remember that, and show some bl**dy respect!

"In December this year, I'll be leading a joint team of Ukrainian wounded and injured servicemen and British wounded and injured servicemen. Me being one of them.
"Two Brits and two Ukrainians, and we’re going to row across the Atlantic from Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean.
"We're raising money for the Invictus Games Foundation, and that is going to be refenced for Ukrainian service personnel rehabilitation."

A pp said something about the 'inflated importance' of the Royal family.

Harry is patron of IG because he was a member of the rf. Gayle and oprah want to talk to them because of their rf links, not because he did a tour of Afghanistan.

So let's give the RF the recognition they deserve hmm?

TallerSally · 19/02/2024 10:01

Yes you saw that right, in the photo he is holding a prosthetic leg...

skullbabe · 19/02/2024 10:33

You do know that's why they excitedly talk about them and oprah 'interviewed' them, not cos Markle was in suits?

🙃Oprah’s interest and excitement was obviously because an American was marrying into the BRF. The same level of interest and excitement when other Americans have married into aristocracy. She absolutely would have tried and succeeded to be the first to get in there. ABC and all other American media’s big interest was and is because she’s American. So that is the hook and angle from which you will get documentaries like “and baby makes 3” on mainstream channels as opposed to niche channels. The interest has always been on the people on the out - so Sarah and now H&M. It’s savvy and a hook.

But this is a tangent. Back to Invictus.

Janiie · 19/02/2024 10:38

'Oprah’s interest and excitement was obviously because an American was marrying into the BRF. '

Exactly! The BRF are a big deal in the US so why the sneery 'inflated importance' comments?

Yes yes back to IG, started by the Royal Foundation and now the patron is an ex working member of the The British Foyal Family!

skullbabe · 19/02/2024 10:41

Some people are determined to misunderstand. Some British people (subject) have an over inflated sense of the importance (object) of the BRF to other people. Not that the BRF have inflated importance. I think that many British people underestimate the importance of the BRF (and the implications for day to day people) in the UK.

The interest in the Invictus Games is the American who married into the BRF, then left and is now living in the US and there’s lots of drama. Honestly - of course the media is interested. Anyway - this is like playing chess with a pigeon.

skullbabe · 19/02/2024 10:44

The fact that you think I’m sneering says a lot. I was not and am not. I find it fascinating that you think I was.

Anyway kids up and have some alapaca themed entertainment planned 🤣. Toodles.

'The British Royal Family are not held in the same regard by people outside of the UK and maybe the Commonwealth. '

You said this and I disagree. I think the US find them far more exciting than many in the UK tbh. Hence Winfry et al queuing up for some crumbs from Harry.

Lovely pigeon and chess comment! You aren't sneeirng though riiiight...
