One again, William's neglecting women's football. The Lionesses made history. It is the first time that the English team (male or female) reached the World Cup final since 1966. We all know that if the men had reached the final, he would've been there and probably would've brought George with him.

Queen Letizia and her daughter Sofia will be attending. What's William's excuse? You are président of the Football Association.

This is really disappointing but I'm not really surprised. The young generation of royals are such a joke compared to previous generations. Yes, the Queen’s children had their controversies but when it comes to royal work, they always got the job done.

Prince William will not attend World Cup final to watch Lionesses

Prince William will be watching England's first final since 1966 on the television and will not fly to Australia to see the Lionesses compete, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

I assume you aren’t in the UK then

The reaction was unmissable

@MamoruHisaishi

Are you in the Uk ?

How could you miss the response to Willys laziness ?
It wasn’t Morgan. It was across the board .

You mean from the same royal rota prese who the pro Sussex posters have claimed to be working on behalf of William to make him look good and are doing william’s bidding to make harry and Meghan look bad?

It was reported but not necessarily as a criticism as was Rishi although some sectors did.

Totally irrelevant given he isn't a working member of the RF and not taxpayer funded.
In my opinion.

We are talking on here about the President of the Football Association and heir to the throne.

Not a couple who live thousands of miles away and pay for themselves.

To be fair, Harry is coming over for the WellChild Awards and the Invictus Games - both associations he only has because his is a Prince in the UK Royal Family. In exactly the same way William is president of the FA. And I imagine those organisations will be paying for his travel costs (that is often the way). So it’s not completely irrelevant.

You don’t know your history

It is exactly the little things that turn out to be decisive

Could you give 2 examples of little things which turned out to be decisive?

I've not said anything considering it's how 'Spare' uses those names. I object to the really unpleasant made up school level names for any of them. But Harry said William calls him Harold and he calls W Willy.

I don’t think I believe that. His reported nicknames were Will, Wills, Wombat. I think it was a childish prank by H to get other people to call W that, he must know what it means in the UK. If they were on good terms it would be a good practical joke, but since they aren’t it isn’t very nice.

Serenster · 24/08/2023 10:42

The whole sorry mess highlighted that Willy has v little to do and the media - royalist and otherwise - called him lazy.

Again, no-one knows what William was doing late last week/earlier this week. We were told by posters eager to criticise him that he was on holiday in Balmoral - turns out the Waleses haven’t gone up there yet. Which just underscores my point - you assume he’s doing nothing (of course) but you actually haven’t a clue what he was doing.

PrincessTigger · 24/08/2023 10:45

Which accounts are accused of being bots? It’s a bit triggering for neurodiverse people like me ☹️

That sounds like criticism...he has attended WellChild every year for 13 years apart from one COVID one, which he did by video. All the vids of his appearance at the awards are on YouTube, fascinating to see how he has changed, (as we all have!)

Invictus is very important to him also

He is attending these not as a working member of the RF

MrsFiddle · 24/08/2023 10:49

@Serenster I wouldn't think that H for all his faults would claim costs for this ? It is a wonderful charity and to his credit he donated £300,000 for last year's budget.

'Reported' nicknames don't necessarily mean true. But if you don't believe anything in the book, you would not believe that either

Janiie · 24/08/2023 10:52

'He is attending these not as a working member of the RF'

He got them purely because he was not only a working member but actually a supporter of the rf. To continue to hang on to the coat tails of charities he represented purely because of his status in the UK is odd. To travel across the Atkantic for charity/social events here is odd.

He should support charities in the US I'm sure there are plenty. But no it'll be 'look at me! chase me!/ don't look at me! don't chase me waaah! all over again.

Novella4 · 24/08/2023 10:59

@PrincessTigger
Was it you who asked about bots ?

I wasn’t taking about Mumsnet at all
I was talking about other social media .
They were quickly spotted because they all had exactly the same wording. Exactly.
They were pushing the ‘protocol’ excuse (It was Charles fault! ) and it was laughable

What's a mean spirited post. He has supported wellchild for more than 13 years and you think he should have just ditched them. And walked away.

Thank god he left and continues to support the charities that really mean something to him

This is the same guy who is suing the government (and costing tax payers thousands of pounds) to get tax payer funded security because he doesn't feel ‘safe’ enough to travel to the UK with his own private security.

Seems like he doesn't think it so dangerous to travel to the UK to attend the charity he got when he was still a working member of the royal family.

In interviews Harry always called him William or Will. Wombat was reported in the press, and Wills was a tabloid invention I think. I just meant out of nowhere we suddenly heard this new nickname we’ve never ever heard before for his brother that he’s fallen out with that just so happens to be a rude word. Which is why I take it with a pinch of salt.

Janiie · 24/08/2023 11:05

'He has supported wellchild for more than 13 years and you think he should have just ditched them. And walked away.'

Yes I do. He lives in the US he should shine his light there. Travelling for social and charity dos in the environmental and cost of living crisis is typically tone deaf even by Haz's tone deaf standards. He could donate that cost of his travel and security etc etc to these organisations and say a quick hi via video link but that won't quite get him the attention he seeks.

Serenster · 24/08/2023 11:05

That sounds like criticism...

It wasn’t! I was just pointing out that Harry’s role in relation to these organisations is comparable to William’s role in the FA - they are both due to their position as Royal family members. Harry isn’t a working royals any longer, of course, but he still holds these roles and is still very much engaged with them.

(It’s not like bringing in Harry if he was flying off for meeting with Netflix about their next project, for example)

Samcro · 24/08/2023 11:06

Janiie · 24/08/2023 09:59

'think Charles and Willy maybe had an improvement in their Cold War when Harry left - common enemy - but that’s gone now .Now that I think about it Willy does speak through gritted teeth - it’s some how forced'

Hmm when I call Harry H, Hazz or Harold I get told off. Let's see if the same folk wang on outraged about 'Willy'...

i find the use of "willy" childish and annoying

Janiie · 24/08/2023 11:07

'This is the same guy who is suing the government (and costing tax payers thousands of pounds) to get tax payer funded security because he doesn't feel ‘safe’ enough to travel to the UK with his own private security'

Doesn't feel safe enough to visit his Nasty Family but safe enough to grin and wave for the cameras at his specified dos.

The outrage and vitriol he would have received if he had just dumped them would be something to behold

This thread is 'batshittery' at it's best. Highly entertaining and amusing as well. Some masks will need repositioning following this. The more usual 'professional' responses have been dropped on this thread. It's good to get a better insight as it is easier to understand motives.

Perhaps William needs to haul Jason back from Earthshot to use his well honed deflection tactics. Of course his good friend and Number 1 ear and mouthpiece, Dan Wooton, has other issues to contend with now.

Zoom would've sufficed just fine. Video links are lovely. Think of the environment even if Harold doesn't.

He does not need to come here <it's soooo unsafe remember>, not see his horrid family but revel in the last remaining crumbs of Royal VIP status he has, dressed up as representing charities.
