The Lionesses made history. It is the first time that the English team (male or female) reached the World Cup final since 1966. We all know that if the men had reached the final, he would've been there and probably would've brought George with him. Queen Letizia and her daughter Sofia will be attending. What's William's excuse? You are président of the Football Association. This is really disappointing but I'm not really surprised. The young generation of royals are such a joke compared to previous generations. Yes, the Queen’s children had their controversies but when it comes to royal work, they always got the job done.

What a thoroughly amusing and entertaining thread!

So to sum it all up, the excuses are:

Australia is too far away, but still close enough to be a realm in which HRH will be Head of State one day.

Environmental concerns prevent HRH from flying, but HRH will be flying to the US and Singapore to promote an environmental cause.

Protocol demands that HRH can't visit any Commonwealth country before the king does, but Anne visited Canada and New Zealand, and HRH will himself be going to Singapore before Charles does.

HRH is a caring father of three and busy with the school run etc, never mind that the children are all on holiday, have a perfectly competent mother and lots of staff to help.

How dare anyone demand that HRH interrupt his holiday, even though HRH's whole life seems to be a holiday occasionally interrupted by work.

And, most recently:

HRH might suffer jet lag!

All of these excuses are missing the point that the president of the Football Association embarrassingly missed the first World Cup that England has been in since 1966.

On the bright side, we got to see a happy Queen Letty and Infanta Sofia, celebrating a glorious win with joyful exuberance. It was lovely to see members of a Royal family being warm and spontaneous, something that no-one can accuse HRH of being. So on the whole, it is, perhaps a good thing that HRH had all those excuses not to attend!

Harry did not inadvertently do anything. He absolutely intended to spill everything in his book and documentary, for what are quite obvious reasons.

Yep, he deliberately chose to open himself up to Press scrutiny and fed them gossip that will last them decades.

It's open to interpretation why he did this - to me the whole book reeks of self-pity, intense jealousy of his brother and a venal need for cash. He was trying to settle scores and just made himself far more vulnerable in the process.

The real issue is the ‘royals’ are stuck, predictably, in the past .
They must know only gammons are influenced by tabloids these days

He shouldn’t be president of an organisation that he repeatedly can’t seem to represent . He can’t risk the boos and they will happen everywhere .

Could you at least provide proof of these ‘bots’? Could you provide proof that the royals hate each other and that William was reading with gritted teeth?

Thank you. It's clear that this ‘controversy’ was just a mere excuse to bash William by the Sussex supporters and anti royalists. They've tried with the cheating, pegging, racist rumours and now this. Like I said, this isn't actually as big a deal as what happened during the Carribean tour, and harry and Meghan spilling gossip on him and his family. With the news cycle the way it is, this will all be forgotten soon and these same media personalities criticizing William will go back to ‘praising’ him once more. I do just wond if the same posters who accuse William of being in cahoots with the media will continue to accuse him of it when he starts to get good press again. 🤣

There were reports of sources mentioning about the environment as reason for him not going. I think there's also been videos of him meeting with the Lionesses and praising them, even giving them hugs (which also generated controversy from some corners of the internet) but those clearly didn't get as much publicity otherwise he wouldn't be accused of not caring.

Now that I think about it Willy does speak through gritted teeth - it’s some how forced . It’s his personality . He may be sincere but he comes across as v cold and insincere . They’ve told him to move his arms a bit to loosen him up - hence the arm waving
And Spare ( I can only assume you didn’t read it ) was kind to Charles . Charles did not deserve the consideration he was given by Harry .

Willy uses helicopters like we use cars .
He flies off on holidays constantly.
Heres an idea - book a seat on one of the daily flights that are going anyway !!

Even his Earthshot (amazingly a researcher came up with the name and inspiration decades ago - but I’ve never seen him credited ) involved copious travel but just for Willy and the big names . Funnily enough he was booed there too .

Is booing taboo in Singapore does anyone know ? I’m guessing yes

I'm sure there were bots over the weekend, there always is.

But several people having the same viewpoint and expressing it in their own words is not bots. There were no bots on Mumsnet that I saw. There would be plenty on Twitter & Insta and you can tell because its literally word for word the same.

I saw plenty of them used to criticise William and doing the same to criticise Kate about the photos of her at the Norfolk rave.

It's not an exclusively pro-Royalist thing.

I've not said anything considering it's how 'Spare' uses those names. I object to the really unpleasant made up school level names for any of them. But Harry said William calls him Harold and he calls W Willy.
