One again, William's neglecting women's football. The Lionesses made history. It is the first time that the English team (male or female) reached the World Cup final since 1966. We all know that if the men had reached the final, he would've been there and probably would've brought George with him.

Queen Letizia and her daughter Sofia will be attending. What's William's excuse? You are président of the Football Association.

This is really disappointing but I'm not really surprised. The young generation of royals are such a joke compared to previous generations. Yes, the Queen’s children had their controversies but when it comes to royal work, they always got the job done.

Haven't read the full thread so this already might have been said,but William cannot go to Australia as King Charles hasn't been yet as Australia have put off inviting him

Princess Anne was in Australia a few months ago.

William and his PR team messed up. It's fine. Let's hope he takes this as a learning lesson because, now that the Queen is gone, any misstep will be amplified.

Yes, really. William is first in line to the throne. Anne is 16th. It’s the line of succession. Which you are at liberty to think is a nonsense, but definitely exists. And Anne’s low place in it is due to the inherent sexism of the rules when she was born. Again, you are at liberty to think is a nonsense, but definitely existed.

I think William should hand over the role of president of FA to someone else.

He couldn't travel to the mens world cup in Qatar (political difficulties) but FA said that would be reconsidered if England made the final.

Now he doesn't go to an actual final.

FA need someone who will actually be able to show up for the really important fixtures (like the first world cup final England has qualified for in nearly 60 years)

Absolutely - this is nonsense and straw grasping for those hoping for a royal scandal / ammunition for republican sentiment.

It would have been a lost positive PR image for William if they had won re the trophy ceremony but as it is it’s a non story.

In fact I’m more impressed that he didn’t give in to ‘optics’ and go at the last minute having said quite clearly to the team before they went that he wasn’t going to be there for the final.

I agree - if his position prevents him from doing the job properly then PW should step aside so the FA presidency can be filled by someone who can.

Maybe it’s because I don’t have any strong feelings about PW one way or another, maybe you have to really hate him already, but I literally have not even the slightest comprehension what all the fuss is about. People predicting that this is the end? If we change our entire constitution because one bloke didn’t go to a single football match on the other side of the planet (that nobody else seemed to be paying any attention to either) then we are the world’s dumbest country 😂😂😂
