One again, William's neglecting women's football. The Lionesses made history. It is the first time that the English team (male or female) reached the World Cup final since 1966. We all know that if the men had reached the final, he would've been there and probably would've brought George with him.

Queen Letizia and her daughter Sofia will be attending. What's William's excuse? You are président of the Football Association.

This is really disappointing but I'm not really surprised. The young generation of royals are such a joke compared to previous generations. Yes, the Queen’s children had their controversies but when it comes to royal work, they always got the job done.

Prince William will not attend World Cup final to watch Lionesses

Prince William will be watching England's first final since 1966 on the television and will not fly to Australia to see the Lionesses compete, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

Exactly @Angrycat2768, this is exactly how I feel. If he can’t be bothered to support them then he should relinquish to damn FA presidency.

Novella4 · 20/08/2023 11:49

@smilesy

Are you not aware that the ‘royals’ carefully censor BBC coverage ?
plus the ( v v mild) BBC doc from the 60s - Lizzie decided she didn’t like it after all - banned .

The BBC has many questions to answer . I stopped using BBC news years ago and I used to be on their site daily .

Surely he has supported them and does support them, but not to the extent of flying to Aus for a 90 minute match, which might possibly go on for a little while longer but not much.

Novella4 · 20/08/2023 11:51

@Angrycat2768 and @vera99

Stop giving them such good ideas lol!

Novella4 · 20/08/2023 11:52

@upinaballoon

Tell that to the queen of Spain

Willy knows he’ll be booed and can’t take it

CathyorClaire · 20/08/2023 12:05

And blaming his PR team is a cop out.

Ooops. Didn't mean to sound quite so sharp there. Sorry.

I do think though his PR people would have foreseen this. I just think he's another who knows best just like the rest of them.

I don’t think the Palace can order the BBC to do anything

Willy doesn't want even clips from the Panorama interview with Diana shown again.

I've no doubt Auntie will comply.

It doesn't matter. The Dsily Mail have pictures of Queen Letizia and her daughter looking glam in bright red all over the place!

Louloulouenna · 20/08/2023 12:10

@CathyorClaire you think Martin Bashir and the BBC behaved well over the Diana Panorama interview? Wow

CathyorClaire · 20/08/2023 12:20

you think Martin Bashir and the BBC behaved well over the Diana Panorama interview?

I don't know how you've got that from my post because it's obvious they didn't but it's worth bearing in mind Diana was hell-bent on getting her side of the story out. I don't think Bashir needed to go to the lengths he did to persuade her. She'd have jumped at the chance regardless.

Her words were still her words, and she stood by what she said. Wills is a Windsor through and through.

Buckingham Palace ordering the BBC not to broadcast footage of Queen Letizia because he's ashamed it will make the British royals look bad in comparison is just shameful and shocking.

The royals have so much power and control over the British media and politics (all those exemptions from laws), it's like North Korea.

Remember William threatening Krishnan Guru-Murthy with false arrest to cover up his secret political meetings in Scotland?

Shameful.

The whole pack of them are nothing but lazy, entitled grifters.

Given we’ve just had a lovely long shot of the Queen and Sofia on the BBC are you now willing to admit your statement was bollocks?

Also, the BBC just uses the same footage as everyone else.

They don't have their own camera crews in Australia so don't get to censor the live broadcast.

QueenOfHertz · 20/08/2023 12:46

Well, that was Willy’s fault they lost. If he’d been there they would have won.

Yep. That point was made earlier and ignored by the poster.

Its now been proved as utter nonsense by the footage of the Spanish royals.

Novella4 · 20/08/2023 12:48

See above - I’m talking about BBC programmes and yes BBC live coverage ( anyone remember the panicked cut away from Charlie’s hissy fit in the carriage ? )

I doubt they have much control over the live coverage from Australia.

The highlights though ?

The royals censor coverage - it’s all set out above .

Re ‘royal’ censorship this from the article above

(queen’s funeral )

“Royal staff had a WhatsApp group during the proceedings in which senior executives from the BBC, ITV and Sky News were told which footage could be used. A member of the royal household would send a message every five minutes, either approving or refusing the use of the previous block of video.
After the funeral had finished the broadcasters were allowed to submit an hour-long tape of highlights which they could reuse in future, with use of any other material requiring signoff from the palace.
The veteran broadcaster David Dimbleby, who took part in the BBC’s coverage of the queen’s funeral, later confirmed the story. In an appearance at the Henley literary festival he described being surprised by the “degree of control” exercised by Buckingham Palace over the footage of the funeral.
“There was this complete list of things that no broadcaster could show because the copyright belongs to Buckingham Palace. I think that’s wrong, just wrong. It’s just interesting how tightly controlled monarchy is.”

QueenOfHertz · 20/08/2023 12:57

Well, that was Willy’s fault they lost.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 20/08/2023 12:58

wow @Novella4 I had no idea about that, thats really crazy. It shouldn't happen.

QueenOfHertz · 20/08/2023 12:58

I hope he takes some time out for some self-reflection after this.

Novella4 · 20/08/2023 12:58

Strangely there is an embedded link in that article . I haven’t seen it done that way before .
I’ll report it

Angrycat2768 · 20/08/2023 13:00

Iwantcakeeveryday · 20/08/2023 12:50

Theres 13 minutes left.

Sadly I think Spain are just that bit fitter and sleeker. Poor England. And poor Wills, when there are loads of pictures of the Spsnish Queen with the Spanish team. The Spanish Royals released a statement saying that the Queen going demonstrated their support and commitment to the National team!

Iwantcakeeveryday · 20/08/2023 13:02

@Angrycat2768 yeah my husband is a big fan of the England women's and he is saying the same, Spain are super fit and just faster. It's their first final too right?

Hippyhippybake · 20/08/2023 13:02

It’s interesting to see that after just one long haul flight to watch a football game Queen Laetizia is held up as a great example of a Monarch. If the British Royal Family had had the same level of corruption/ nepotism/ bribery scandals that the Spanish Royals have had in recent years I doubt we would still have a monarchy.
