Recently spotted at a TSwift (allegedly), Barbie movie for her birthday, a restaurant, and then hanging out with friends in an Instagram selfie. She looks phenomenal in this photo!

Glad to see she's enjoying her life back home with her family.

*it’s also a site that treats all famous women, Meghan and Angelina Jolie excepted, as human punching balls. Kate however gets their especial vitriol (several articles a day, by far the most covered person) for every single thing she says, does, or wears. Or the way she walks, talks, gestures with her hands, styles her hair. And of course she is the most stupid, vapid, worthless person imaginable, and inferior in every single possible way to her sister in law.

Sound familiar? *

Yes, it sounds like Mumsnet and the tabloids, except Meghan is the main punching bag here. If you come here and discuss tabloid gossip and repeatedly criticise Meghan including for the number of outfits she dares to wear, she's not on a specialy special royal tour so who does she think she is, then you're no different to celebitchy or any other place like it. If you don't call out the comments here, but post away anyway, then you're no different to anyone that reads celebitchy.

Did H and M smear or did they tell their version of events?

I don't remember Diana being vilified for doing the interview, if anything it garnered more sympathy and support for her

Iwantcakeeveryday · 27/09/2023 10:08

They explicitly wanted to be half in and half out.

As modelled by other royals. I am sure they thought this was the least explosive option and probably had/have some silly duty towards the Queen and the monarchy, which is one thing I disagree with Harry on. But he's not going to tell the world its a waste of time is he, even if he thought it. But he wouldn't keep his wife living there and in the UK, and that is a decision I do admire. A husband should not watch as people hound his wife and then make his wife smile for those same people and give them interviews and photos of their children.

Daisyislazy · 27/09/2023 10:08

And good on Diana after the way she was treated by the RF

None of them have ever been vilified in any way close to how Harry and Meghan are being.

Yes, I agree.

Repeatedly criticise Meghan including for the number of outfits she dares to wear, she's not on a specialy special royal tour so who does she think she is

Not things I ever said. Please don’t make such false assertions.

You said that she could do nothing about the press attention she received. I pointed out that changing her outfit 10 times in three days (which led to acres and acres of coverage, which she would have realised) was clearly a choice she had made to mean she did get a lot of press attention.

Other well-known fashion commentators made the point that it looked like she was on a royal tour (the one who made that comment was hired by Hello Magazine to host their coverage of QEII’s funeral, and has published a book about royal fashion so she’s hardly a random blogger. She’s a huge supporter of Meghan too.).

Daisyislazy · 27/09/2023 10:11

It's all about the language isn't it? " smear" and " half in and half out" are very negative. Whereas " tell my version of events" and " create a life that has more balance" doesn't paint such a poor picture of them

What was actually wrong with wanting to live differently?

Serenster · 27/09/2023 10:11

Not alive in the 1990s, clearly.🤣

Daisyislazy · 27/09/2023 10:12

@Iwantcakeeveryday yay I knew you and I would get there 🤣😉

I was born in 1970 so very much alive

Selling them to Netflix who are at the same making a tv show dramatising the death of his mother is perfectly fine though, of course. You do amuse me.🤣

But not Working Royals . People give Peter, Zara and the York sisters as examples however they are not and never have been working Royals . They aren’t supported by the taxpayer . H and M wanted to earn money BUT also have paid for security and other perks.

Daisyislazy · 27/09/2023 10:21

What were the details of their proposal to the queen?

Iwantcakeeveryday · 27/09/2023 10:25

Yes I was.

was clearly a choice she had made to mean she did get a lot of press attention.

So Meghan is responsible not just for the press attention she still gets, but the negative spin they and you, put on it? No. That's not how I see it at all. She can wear what she wants. The royals spend our money on numerous outfits every year so that should be the press and your focus, not how many times a private citizen gets changed.

secretpath · 27/09/2023 10:27

They have a right to say why and how.

Yeah, they do. Especially as Harry had witnessed other family members dish the dirt on each other via media interviews. Maybe he thought that was the only way.

But they don't have the right to absolve themselves of the negative consequences of exerting that right (within the law). People will disagree, and criticise and even condemn Harry and Meghan for the way they justified their decisions, and that is their right. (Not saying you said that they were trying to absolve themselves, Rousette).

Unfortunately for the RF, they are not really in a position to explain their side of the story. We do get hints though, don't we - "recollections may vary"

Reading about Harry and Meghan's complaints always reminded me a bit of those MN threads where people ask 'Is this a reverse?' or where people say, 'Hmm... I'd be interested to hear the other side.'

Daisyislazy · 27/09/2023 10:37

Reading about what they have faced makes me think thank god they are out and I'm sure some people on the m stately homes thread must be able to relate

boxedandribboned · 27/09/2023 10:39

I'm sure some people on the m stately homes thread must be able to relate

Yes, probably true

LadyMuckingabout · 27/09/2023 10:44

I have said repeatedly that we don’t know the full picture. Do H&M supporters not believe that there are two sides to every story? I think that is what frustrates people on here and perpetuates the arguments. This unshakeable belief that every single thing they do/say/wear is wonderful.

Even when Harry looked bored stiff at Beyoncé. You can love Harry and admit that he looked a darned sight happier at the football the next day.

Roussette · 27/09/2023 10:46

I think Sarah Ferguson has totally recovered from it! She is and has been welcomed back into the RF fold. Summer hols up at Balmoral etc. She lives on a Royal estate of 110 acres, despite being divorced from her husband for nearly 30 years. (how weird is that? We just need to take a step back and think about it. She is not married to a member of the RF but has lived on a massive Royal Estate for 15 years. And uses the grounds for adverts and footage of herself all dressed up in royal garb to flog her Mills & Boon books)

She appears to do what she wants, when she wants.... all interspersed with gushing about her ex and the RF (she knows which side her bread is buttered)

I'm not sure that anyone has said that everything they do is right

Roussette · 27/09/2023 10:50

This unshakeable belief that every single thing they do/say/wear is wonderful.

Why do you keep saying this when only an hour ago I said what I thought they had done wrong and others on here only yesterday and today talked of her not being perfect and getting it wrong sometimes. I get a bit fed up with your narrative to be honest

I honestly think you saying this is trying to shut down conversation.

Roussette · 27/09/2023 10:52

You picked one piece of footage and ran with it. A poster came along and linked 5 different clips of him dancing, or hugging Meghan, or laughing or looking happy but no... one ten second clip means he's bored out his brains.

That is what you want him to be.
Unhappy or bored.

Serenster · 27/09/2023 10:53

In the eyes of the public…?
