Harry loses HRH title

cobicat · 09/08/2023 05:36

Harry's 'HRH' has reportedly been removed from his listing on the RF website. Seems about time, really? Odd that Meghan's wasn't removed too, perhaps an oversight? Or are they making the changes gradually in the hope that no-one will notice...

'No one in the ‘royal family’ has ever appeared in a Jerry springer type show'

Winfry was like a Springer show just minus the live audience.

No, I won’t accept that at all. You can’t have seen a Jerry springer show if you think he is comparable to Oprah.

Oprah guests have included Michelle Obama, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, Gloria Steinem, Hilary Clinton & various big movie stars and so on and so forth. I have a great deal of respect for Oprah, she was a bit of s Queen in our house - my daughter will not hear a bad word about her. Yes, Oprah’s not perfect, we can find fault - but same can be said of anyone.

I don’t think wanting to defend Meghan does speak highly of Harry to be honest… I mean “don’t complain never explain” is a matter of principle to the other royals. But Harry is a complainer and an explainer, so why is the first time he mentions it when it’s happening to someone he fancies.

Also, re: an earlier point, the fact that the grandson of the head of state who signs illegal substance legislation into law and in whose name drug dealers are prosecuted, imprisoned, and rehabilitated, and the “spare” who could he called upon to do just that… that he took Class A and Class B illegal substances IS a news story. He was massively popular when it happened, he was fun Harry, the media ran it regardless BECAUSE it was a matter of public interest. This shows that the media gets it right. If Mr Nobody possesses Class A drugs that is a matter of public interest and they are prosecuted. When you’re a prince there is no way of saying it isn’t.

But you don't think it was Charles's job to protect Harry from such a huge media splash? He was around 16 then, still a child at school. Wouldn't you, as a parent, protect your own child from public humiliation like that - surely as a father Charles should not have thrown his teenager to the wolves like that. He did it to improve his own image. What kind of father does that, humiliate his own child in the media? Harry needed to be punished yes, for dabbling in drugs, but privately and not publicly, and especially not to the benefit of Charles. This is the 'dignified' royal family.

I admired her silence. Few people are capable of that level of grace under fire.

Meghan's behavior was low, period, regardless of Kate's decision to rise above it and not engage.

And yes, it is a choice. One people should make more often on Mumsnet, in fact.

hmm are you referring to me? Your post is answering my last one. Why include that?

It's not publicising, it's pointing out the Markles' vile behaviour because Meghan is always being blamed for 'cruelly' not staying in touch with these people. Why not share what they are really like? They are not her family, just abusive and deranged individuals she's unfortunately related to.

I agree that her half siblings come over as pretty awful but what about other relatives especially on her Mum’s side - why were none of them at the weddi g ? Are they awful too?

AliceOlive · 15/08/2023 16:28

@Morestrangerthings1 No, to no one in particular.

I have no idea. It's not inconceivable that they are maybe, just not close?

Mylovelygreendress · 15/08/2023 16:29

Gilmorehill · 15/08/2023 13:59

Yes that's what I thought too. Plus when Oprah said 'what about going to Wimbledon together' (or words to that effect) and M gave this smirk and said 'not everything is what it seems'. She wanted to throw Kate under the bus and make her like the mean girl to the world. God knows what really happened but when you know the other person isn't in a position to speak out, it's shiitty behaviour.

I wonder if we would have ever heard about these alleged incidents had M and H been allowed to do their Sussex Royal stuff as they ( prematurely) announced in Jan 20?
I suspect not .

Maireas · 15/08/2023 16:29

Who was the uncle who got her work in the embassy? Was that on the mum's side?

That part of Meghan’s family strike me as not wanting the spotlight. Have they ever sought it? I bet they’ve had opportunity to do so? Yet we never hear from them? Perhaps they are very much like Doria - their sister. Dignified and private.

Staged or not Meghan has to be out and about to generate column inches if only for media exposure to keep her name out there for whatever project is ongoing.

Because she dared to criticise the all-hallowed royals.

Or, put it another way, she dared to explain how her life was for her being in the royal family. And it was not all flattering.

Therefore she must be ripped into shreds, the treasonous witch.

AliceOlive · 15/08/2023 16:53

Yeah, there is not much tolerance in the world for gorgeous, wealthy, famous, royal people complaining about their lives.

Because at the moment she is not doing much. So we have to rehash the wedding guests and OW interview

it was royalty complaining about royalty. And people sure were interested to hear it. Just as they were interested in Charles’ interview, and Diana’s interview, and that book Charles and James Dibley wrote about Charles and his unhappy childhood with his remote parents:

AliceOlive · 15/08/2023 17:10

Of course some people are interested. Just like they were interested in Thomas Markle. Does that make it admirable?

I had no idea !
Can you blame me ?

Why would I assume that someone from the dwindling band of ‘royal’ supporters was anything but British?

This has happened to me before . Another ‘royalist ‘ poster wasn’t even from the uk.
I find it telling .

The republican posters are British !

'Because at the moment she is not doing much. So we have to rehash the wedding guests and OW interview'

Like we 'rehash' Diana's interview and Charles' book Grin.

Don’t forget Sarah Ferguson’s books or It’s a Knockout from the late 1980s !

Despite my awareness that the Royal Family does exist, and includes even those that would monetize everything from their monogram (logo?) to the word Royal itself, I don’t consider myself a royalist.

In the current case, I’m more of a coat aficionado. It’s a balmy 74 here today and I’m trying to decide between my puffy coat and this white suede number with a faux fur collar. Thoughts? I’ll choose my massive wrap scarf based on replies.

Maireas · 15/08/2023 18:40

White suede ✔

Maireas · 15/08/2023 18:41

I've just seen that's 23.3°c! Lady, here in Yorkshire we'd call that "sweltering"!

jeffgoldblum · 15/08/2023 18:44

Faux fur wins the day with me! 👍
