Harry loses HRH title

cobicat · 09/08/2023 05:36

Harry's 'HRH' has reportedly been removed from his listing on the RF website. Seems about time, really? Odd that Meghan's wasn't removed too, perhaps an oversight? Or are they making the changes gradually in the hope that no-one will notice...

'The members of the monarchy can speak out whenever they want. They choose not to. No one is stopping them. They don’t speak out because they believe it serves them better in the long run not to speak out - it’s a tactic.'

And it works. Look at all the sneering online about Will and Rose Hanbury's alleged affair, now it turns out Kate is friends with her and socialises with her so it was all obvs bollocks . If they'd lowered themselves to a Harry style speech about lies etc they'd have looked as ridiculous and paranoid as Harry does.

Ignoring and rising above it really does put them in a far better light than those constant blabbing on chat shows.

Maireas · 15/08/2023 15:14

I agree, @Janiie . It's silly getting into tit for tat.

Roussette · 15/08/2023 15:15

Yes, it's a very clever tactic of theirs, they choose not to speak out so everyone feels sorry for them, like they were born mute or something. So when someone does speak out there's a collective shock and the impression they're being 'picked on' and need defending.

Whoever in the RF came up with that is a friggin' genius.

Well said. The never complain never explain mantra. They like the latter part of that very much

Janiie · 15/08/2023 15:19

I don't feel sorry for them. I admire their restraint at not biting but as I said they look better for it. Look at Eugenie and Beatrice they've been mocked mercilessly but they don't respond with sermons they ignore and people do actually respect them more for doing so. Ditto Camilla and W&K.

Focusing on an earlier point , good advice not to click on links your not familiar with , there is indeed slot of unsavoury and downright nasty things out there and particularly important to remember how easy it is to get hacked or pick up a virus now !

A lot ! Not slot , damn autocorrect!

I think Harry ‘rose above it’ until they came after his wife. I don’t think he could countenance that. And actually, I’m grateful that Harry is taking them on - someone had to. Much of the media - Murdoch’s NGM and the other 2 he is suing are just unconscionable.

not just with H&M, but also the other people who are suing, and the people these media groups have had to pay out, erroneous info (Murdoch’s fox tv) re the 2020 election fraud bullshit. They are the ones we all know about. In our own countries we have more examples off this.

And that’s fine. But people are accusing Meghan of being unfair for speaking out because ‘Kate can’t’ When in fact, Kate absolutely can speak out, but she chooses not to.

Janiie · 15/08/2023 15:29

'I think Harry ‘rose above it’ until '

Or, he rose above it when he was popular and got his own way all the time <didnt hear him defending his poor cousins or stepmother who were targets> but once he was told no 'Sussex Royal USA!' Would not work, he flounced and the media turned.

He can't handle criticism and he we are. He's tried to gaslight everyone ever since. Sad.

AliceOlive · 15/08/2023 15:47

I think it was vile every time TM went on a talk show and spoke about his daughter. I cannot imagine how much hurt and humiliation I would feel in her shoes. Since I am not a hypocrite, I also thought the same when H&M openly discussed of their family on Oprah and in Spare.

I am sure people loved the drama of it, though.

jeffgoldblum · 15/08/2023 15:50

I agree @AliceOlive , washing your dirty linen in public is crass , regardless who does it !

I admired her silence. Few people are capable of that level of grace under fire.

Meghan's behavior was low, period, regardless of Kate's decision to rise above it and not engage.

And yes, it is a choice. One people should make more often on Mumsnet, in fact.

Janiie · 15/08/2023 15:54

Well, she's maybe seen the hurt that Harry has caused and how stupid he looks with his tales, attacks and gripes and thought what is the actual point. 'Speaking out' doesn't always work does it. Far better to keep a dignified silence and just do your job.

It's such an easy thing to do. Taking the high road is much harder.

Or, he rose above it when he was popular and got his own way all the time <didnt hear him defending his poor cousins or stepmother who were targets> but once he was told no 'Sussex Royal USA!' Would not work, he flounced and the media turned.

So that reporting of Harry having a drinking problem in his 20s and a ‘drug problem’ in his teens (which was Charles’ office’s doing), and his Vegas holiday and all the rest was the press making him ‘popular.’ I have read he got a few good years of press during the early years of Kate and Williams marriage when they were accused of being ‘lazy’ by the press etc which was unfair. But really the press have been gunning for Harry since he was a young teenager. The press gave him a few good years. apparently. Compared to what they wrote about William and Kate in those years I think. But as soon as Meghan came into the picture, it changed back: He released an official statement earlier in his relationship with Meghan asking the press to back off. So no, IHe was objecting long before the ‘No to the ‘USA.’

His cousins had their dad to defend them - Prince Andrew remember. Camilla had Charles, her husband, to defend her. Because those men did not choose to speak up for their daughters and wife is not Harry’s fault. nor was it his place.

AliceOlive · 15/08/2023 15:59

@Janiie dignified. That's the word.

But why did he think it's was anyone else's place to speak up for Meghan? Hearing that from him was so revealing. He didn't see himself as an adult?

No one in the ‘royal family’ has ever appeared in a Jerry springer type show. There was ‘it’s a royal knockout ‘ though. Perhaps it’s that you are thinking of. Andrew, Fergie, Edward and Princess Anne in ‘it’s a royal knockout!” I remember my dad watching it - a monarchist till he died- and he said “ have they all gone mad.” The outfits theyvworse wre hysterical too.

Janiie · 15/08/2023 16:06

'Because those men did not choose to speak up for their daughters and wife is not Harry’s fault'

No obviously it wasn't his fault, however the others knew to mudsling via chatshows was a waste of time and it was. Camiila, Eugenie & Beatrice all seem very grounded and respected people.

My point was if he felt sooo strongly about the nasty media he's had years to chat as he now has done repeatedly <ironically> to the media about it. But nope, he waited until his demands werent met, he was told to stop the Sussex Royal Overseas VIP crap and lo, the faux flee to Canada plan to escape the media was launched.

Janiie · 15/08/2023 16:07

'No one in the ‘royal family’ has ever appeared in a Jerry springer type show'

Winfry was like a Springer show just minus the live audience.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 15/08/2023 16:11

I should have worded it better, if Kate had replied it would have made it a Jerry Springer style show! Ha I remember it’s a Royal Knockout, poor Edward it didn’t get received as he expected!

PrincessTigger · 15/08/2023 16:13

I don’t think wanting to defend Meghan does speak highly of Harry to be honest… I mean “don’t complain never explain” is a matter of principle to the other royals. But Harry is a complainer and an explainer, so why is the first time he mentions it when it’s happening to someone he fancies.

Also, re: an earlier point, the fact that the grandson of the head of state who signs illegal substance legislation into law and in whose name drug dealers are prosecuted, imprisoned, and rehabilitated, and the “spare” who could he called upon to do just that… that he took Class A and Class B illegal substances IS a news story. He was massively popular when it happened, he was fun Harry, the media ran it regardless BECAUSE it was a matter of public interest. This shows that the media gets it right. If Mr Nobody possesses Class A drugs that is a matter of public interest and they are prosecuted. When you’re a prince there is no way of saying it isn’t.

There is a Thomas Market fanclub on MN. Some posters really like him. And Samantha too
It's all Meghan's fault
Apparently

that is so true, its odd as has behaved badly. he is a grown man, yet Meghan gets the blame.
people forget that Meghan actually knows him, unlike us.
imo blackmailing your dd is awful behaviou.
