No disrespect to her but people and the media often talk about her sense of duty, her stability and professionalism but what would would say are some of the things in her last 15-20 years on the throne that you would criticise her for?

My obvious response is how she handled the Prince Andrew situation and staying on the throne as long as she did. She should've abdicated 10 or 20 years before her death, in my opinion

I feel like there is a lot missing about what happened that we will never see.

It’s a horrible mess, that’s for sure. I don’t know what kind of life he can live from now on. The scrutiny may eventually go away but it will take years and years. Can he even leave the country?

He will never travel to the US.

polkadotdalmation · 14/08/2023 22:32

As this thread is about Elizabeth and not about Andrew, I think it's perfectly valid to bring Harry and Meghan into it, as the two people who made her last years miserable and stressed. Lying and name calling Elizabeth's family as her husband lay dying, and then again mocking her while she was ill with cancer. To me what Andrew did was Andrew's problem and he deserves all the punishment he's got, but H&M are still walzing around Monticito unrepentant and as arrogant as ever, despite all the damage they caused.

PrincessTigger · 14/08/2023 22:39

I felt bad for Liz to give 70 years service only for some selfish idiot men to try and mess it all up at the end

@Roussette that's not what I said.

Iforgotmyusernameagainandagain · 15/08/2023 04:22

What a nasty thread. Don't you have enough negativity in your life OP?

@Roussette that's not what I said.

That's for others reading your post to decide

Perhaps not punishment in the legal sense. Obviously (as far as we know) they've broken no laws. But maybe karma will creep up behind them and and bite them on the bum....
Hope I live to see it

I didn’t read that as saying they caused her to die, she said the Queen had [reportedly] cancer. That was the cause of her death, that and old age. But they made her last years harder than they needed to be with their attention seeking drama.

Anyone who’s had dealings with a Meghan Markle can spot the type a mile off. It gives you an insight that perhaps others haven’t had.

What is that supposed to mean? People that actually know her and have worked with her for years pre Harry have lots of good things to say.

this thread is clearly about The Queen and as per the OP is about what we would criticise her for. It isn't about what you would criticise Meghan for, there are plenty of other threads you can do that on.

polkadotdalmation · 15/08/2023 08:59

@Ohpleeeease My first H was a Meghan Markle type for sure. You never knew if a word out of his mouth was true. Alienated my family and half his own, grandiose, a cheater and a user. Yes, I know the type very well unfortunately.

polkadotdalmation · 15/08/2023 09:01

As the OP is a Queen and Royalty bashing thread and set up as such, I don't think we are obliged to join in the bashing if we choose not to. I prefer just to talk about the queen and her life (which plenty of other here have done)

Iwantcakeeveryday · 15/08/2023 09:01

So now she's a cheater? I thought it wasn't ok to gossip about affairs? Or is that just when its about William and Kate?

polkadotdalmation · 15/08/2023 09:32

Please read what I said. My ex husband was a cheater. He and MM are a 'type'. It doesn't necessarily mean they behave in exactly the same way, even though MM was living with the chef guy in Toronto when she got together with Harry. Apparently the chef guy was devastated at the time but is now happily married. Lucky escape.

Roussette · 15/08/2023 09:49

What unpleasant nasty vitriol about Meghan, some posters just cannot help themselves. I would hate feeling such intense dislike for someone I don't know, whose shoes I have never walked in

I prefer this from @Iwantcakeeveryday People that actually know her and have worked with her for years pre Harry have lots of good things to say
As opposed to labelling her as 'a type'

Bottom line You do not know her

So you are accusing her of cheating then?

polkadotdalmation · 15/08/2023 10:03

Well she was still living with Cory when she started dating Harry, so make of that what you will.

True, none of us know Meghan, but we all know the things she has done in the past, the lies she has told and, as they say, by your deeds you will be known. So we are perfectly entitled to judge someone we don't know by their actions and behaviours. Harry doesn't get a free pass either. Neither does Andrew, Charles or any person of any rank.

BadgerB · 15/08/2023 10:23

Why is that Meghan is the only sort-of royal we are required to know personally before we can criticize?
The late Queen, Charles, W&K - all fair game from news articles, gossip, supposition. But H&M get a free pass unless the critic "knows them".

And, I would add, that plenty of people who DO know them seem to be seeing thru' the facade

jeffgoldblum · 15/08/2023 10:24

Interesting point @BadgerB , I had noticed that before!

I have stated countless times we don't know these people. I have NO IDEA what the Queen was like, what Camilla is like and I laugh my socks off when posters say they'd like to have a gin with her, she's got a wicked sense of humour and so on

Camilla might be boring as fuck or a great laugh. Who knows what she's like. We are fed a version in the media. Ditto Kate, Sophie etc.

So your post does not stand. We do not know Meghan so all these endless insults about her being "a type" are total BS.

I criticise the Institution not the people, I don't know them. I will criticise their actions however, bags of cash, opacity of finances, endless promises of slimming down when the opposite happens...etc

CathyorClaire · 15/08/2023 10:48

I don’t know what kind of life he can live from now on.

He's fine.

He has endless royal residences with the kind of private facilities most of us can only dream of to rattle round, bespoke-finish luxury motors to whisk him between them and he even still gets to play in the dressing up box from time to time all along with the clear support of his siblings.

The fact he can't pass off his luxury golf jaunts as 'work' any longer is a good thing.

He will never travel to the US.

France either, probably

Ohpleeeease · 15/08/2023 10:58

I think the same would have to be said about Andrew though. We don’t “know” him, we know what it’s said he has done, we know he associated with bad people. None of that had anything to do with his office, people would feel the same (I hope) if he was in the public eye for other reasons than being royal.

I feel the same about Meghan Markle. I’ve no doubt some people love her, people are rarely all bad. But what she has shown me I don’t like.
