I guess Deadline has it in for the Sussexes too.
Just like the British press, the Cut, then WSJ, Bloomberg News, and Rolling Stone magazine. It's all a vast conspiracy against the Sussexes.

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Netflix Docuseries Snubbed By Emmy Voters

Netflix’s megahit documentary series on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle failed to earn any Emmy nominations this morning, a snub that presumably will delight critics of the Duke and Duchess of Susse…

Or perhaps the other shows put forward were actually crap and were rightly rejected? It's like if the Kardashians tried to push their show for an Emmy nomination.

The lengths you go to to defend this couple is what I find bizarre.

But hey, you don't have to be so upset that the Emmys rejected it. They've been nominated via the Hollywood critics award show (a barely recognised awards show that's been through some time trouble themselves). Which rightly fits them tbh.

I think its a lot more bizarre to spend your days bashing people you don't like and wishing bad things happen to them.

So you actually are doubling down on any show not nominated must be crap? Theres a lot of crap shows out there not getting nominated, literally thousands.

It was being pushed for a nomination, which it should never have been. There was nothing enlightening or engaging about the ‘documentary’. So yes it was crap, the fact that it had to resort to manipulation such as using press footage of a harry potter premier to push their narrative should have disqualified it from being considered in the first place. The subjects themselves contradicted the views raised in the documentary. thank goodness the voters rejected it because they didn’t think it was good enough to be nominated for an Emmy.

I don’t wish bad things to happen to the Sussexes. They create it themselves and yeah it’s funny to watch them crash and burn after dragging their own family. Some people might call it karma. 🤷

If we want to talk funny, I nominate this thread!

All those other doumentaries and programmes snubbed and rejected. I wonder how they're coping?!

On a serious note, I wonder what would be one step too far for a crash and burn of H&M. I have a feeling, nothing. Worrying and really sad.

costacoughee · 13/07/2023 10:17

Karma indeed

Once again, everyone who makes a show, everyone who acts in one, has to nominate themselves. That's how they work. Its not 'pushing', its putting your project or work up for consideration. Thousands do it and thousands do not get one of the few nominations.

Delighting in people 'crashing and burning' is not something I would be proud to do to anyone but the absolute worst of society, like pedophiles and their apologists and enablers, murderers. Not people who shared their side of a family drama, which millions of people do. I think wishing ill on people or rejoicing in other peoples perceived suffering is probably something that would bring its own karma to you.

A lot of the puff pieces are 'manifestation'. One of the first things I heard about MM after her relationship with PH became public knowledge, was that she was tipped to be a Bond girl in the next film. There have been so many more since then; they're going to present The Oscars, M's going to become a close friend of Michelle Obama, have her own chat show, a Dior ambassador, a philanthropist, a producer, they're going to win an Emmy etc. Apparently manifestation is quite big in Hollywood - believe it and it will happen/can do attitude, which isn't a bad thing. But...it needs to be kept quiet until it comes to fruition, or it just makes you look foolish. And to a British mindset it looks boastful (disclaimer, I'm not British, but I live here), and the British don't seem to like boasters. Whichever PR team they're with this week should probably stop putting those little manifestations out now - it's backfiring because none of it is coming true.

Howsimplywonderful · 13/07/2023 10:35

@Iwantcakeeveryday

Shows are pushed all the time. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
Networks/Studios often push shows for nominations and awards.

I personally didn’t like that the Queens speech was purposefully manipulated for the documentary to change its meaning. Clearly the people in charge had their own feelings too about it.

Whether it means their relationship with Netflix is coming to a premature end, we will just have to wait and see.

Do you think that everything you read like this is something that has come from them?
Or could it just be made up clickbait by the media? Imagine if it was this... and you think she is 'boastful' but none of it has come from her.

Just a thought!

costacoughee · 13/07/2023 11:10

@Roussette just a thought but you or I don't know things do or don't come from her. It's speculation on all sides.

Yes. So assuming it all comes from H&M is wrong.

You never know what you're talking about!

networks and studios have to put forward their shows for nomination, they're not nominated by the people voting on them. You put yourself forward. Actors and actresses do the same. Meghan and Harry were not themselves put forward, it was the producers of the show and that is absolutely standard thing for them to do.

What do you mean by 'pushed' as opposed to putting forward for nomination? Since you are the fountain of all knowledge.

Why do you care so much what I post? I can't imagine getting so bothered over someone’s posts about a couple who don't even know you exist, to the point you'd seemingly get upset over it. I guess I'm living rent free in your head.

ooh and ditto to you! Why do you care soo much that others disagree with your posts? Just admit, you wanted to start a nice bitch fest about Meghan and can't stand getting called out on it.

@Iwantcakeeveryday

Here is an example of how the awards season really works. This particular article is about the Oscars. The Emmy awards have had similar controversies in the past

www.nytimes.com/2023/03/08/magazine/oscars-campaign.html?referringSource=articleShare

marcopront · 13/07/2023 11:45

@MamoruHisaishi

*If you read the linked article it explains why it was a snub. But here you go, hope this helps:

The six-part series Harry & Meghan directed by Liz Garbus was under consideration for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series. The Emmy oversight is particularly glaring because the series scored extraordinary numbers for Netflix, racking up the second most viewing minutes of any documentary program on the streaming platform, behind only The Tinder Swindler

Not to mention that Variety, an industry broadsheet, predicted the documentary as being a strong emmy contender. And the Tindler Swindler by comparison had multiple emmy nominations so yeah I would call this a ‘snub’.

But then again, perhaps it wasn't a snub, and the emmy voters just recognised the documentary for the trash it was and therefore rightly rejected it.* 🤷

I read the article.
I know it wasn't chosen.
I don't know why that was a snub.

Lots of programs put forward weren't chosen.

Were they all snubbed?

The OUP definition of Snub is

rebuff, ignore, or spurn
disdainfully.

Where is the disdain?

Or perhaps, instead of manifestation, whatever that is, this is news that is spun by people with no access to Harry and Meghan, nothing to rwrite about, but who need clicks for stories.

Consider last week's BIG headline in the Daily Mail.

Meghan wore a white shirt! She wears white shirts when she means business!

Was that

a) manifestation
b) clickbait?

Consider another headline:

Harry a no show on Father's big day in Scotland.

Was that

a) manifestation
b) clickbait

I could go on but I think you get the idea.

The Sussexes do nothing.

The tabloids create something.

And you and others get very agitated and talk about attention seeking and manifestation.

Howsimplywonderful · 13/07/2023 12:18

Or publicists earning their fee.

FloofCloud · 13/07/2023 12:31

@Iwantcakeeveryday - other posters speak in this same 'people' way too - it doesn't mean all people it's a proportion ... a proportion I'm sure adored the programme and a proportion also hated it, and those in between with a variety of views
It doesn't negate the fact it wasn't put forward!

potniatheron · 13/07/2023 12:46

I don't see how it can be a snub when it clearly doesn't belong in the documentary category. Have you seen the qaulity of the nominees? H&M's thing was clearly never going to be in consideration and I am sure they wouldn't have wanted it to be.

Such a non story.

Hmmm, I'm not agitated, a good way to work out someone's agitation levels is to do a rough recce/count up of defensive posts .

I'm just someone unknown to you and them who thinks they're a pair of idiots.

Try not to let it bother you so much.

There's a difference between disagreeing about posts and making personal assumptions about my character or personality just because I don't like the sussexes. Maybe you and the other pro sussexes here should mind your own business and stop making personal attacks at other posters for posting their own opinions on people who don't even know you exist. Feel free to start a thread criticizing the other royals, I won't attack you for it unlike you and your cohorts here.

Why don't you ask the writer who wrote the article why they chose the word snub? It all adds up to the same thing anyway, the documentary was Rejected because it wasnt good enough to be even nominated.

The article states it was up for consideration for best non fiction documentary, and it’s just been nominated under that same category from a lesser known award show. Clearly Netflix was trying to push it to get nominated, which it was, it just wasn't the Emmys.
