Omid Scobie writing tell all book

1000 replies

CosmosQueen · 29/06/2023 07:23

The biographer of the Duke and Duchess of Sussexwarned that his next book will reveal moments that the Royal family should be “ashamed of”.
Omid Scobie claimed he was one of few journalists writing about the Royal family whose work was impartial and “spin-free”

As such, he said his forthcoming book, provocatively titled Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, would focus on the negative as much as the positive and would shine a light on “unsolved mysteries”
“Endgame not only looks at the successes of our Royal family but also the failures; the things to be proud of and those they should be ashamed of,” he wrote in the I newspaper

Just when will this end? I feel so sorry for their poor children who will have to live with the knowledge that their parents and his obnoxious individual were prepared to do anything to make money.

assume so an assumption, because Meghan misunderstood and thought she would be paid to work.

She and Harry received millions of pounds for the time they were working royals and she wanted more ?

Mylovelygreendress · 07/07/2023 15:04

Yes @Roussette they chose to leave because they didn’t get their own way !
how many times does this have to be said for the fan club to get it ?

I am not part of a fan club, please don't continue to goad other posters by referring to them in derogatory ways. We are adults who object to the narrative you're engaging in. Not fans, but posters with different opinions.

Your opinion is just that. We don't have to 'get' anything. They left because they couldn't withstand the abusive way the press behaved towards them, particularly to Meghan. Its fair and reasonable for adults to make choices about how much of their time they give to the family firm. The Queen didn't have to agree, she chose not to. Her unwillingness to be flexible in modern times may just come back to bite that family. Only time will tell. But to say 'they didn't get their way' is to suggest they have no say in how much of their time they're willing to give despite other family members being able to do just that and still benefit from the royal wealth, and the so-called glamour of notable events. I think Harry asked for what others already had.

DollyTheFluffyOne · 07/07/2023 15:21

I really don't think that H and M leaving the RF will have any impact on the RF going forward. The RF have settled into a new pattern with a new King and W and K being in prominent roles too. There is much positive coverage of them out and about all over the place doing various things. H and M are very much yesterday's news ( yup I know here we all talk about them here 😂) as regards the RF in the UK now. Of course there is a mild swell of interest when a book or something is released. That's natural. People like to read gossip. H and M have chosen their life now but again it's only natural that people will look at a pic of H and L out at a parade.

Exactly. I'm not into labelling people like this. It's rude.

I don't understand this. This is quoting a post from 2014, I thought Harry and Meghan didn't get together until 2016 so how would this refer to them?

This cracked me up. Hoisted by one’s own petard.

You refer to “Royalists” with regularity, though. Is that intended as positive moniker?

Iwantcakeeveryday · 07/07/2023 17:20

Royalists is what people call themselves. Its hardly derogatory, what is this board meant for?

Hahaha... everywhere talks of Royalists or Monarchists! Do you consider it to be insulting?! That's a bit worrying to be embarrassed to support the Monarchy. If there is another term you'd prefer I'll use it?! Let me know...
It's a bit tedious to type 'those who support the Royal Family' instead of Royalist isn't it. I'll try if you like! Lots of people call themselves Royalists.
My friend loves the RF, she calls herself a royalist!

The point wasn't about Harry and Meghan. It was about how this board has changed since they joined the family. Back then people were shocked at other sites and the ridiculous gossip and claims made. Now this board is exactly like that.

Hoisted by one’s own petard. Be mindful of the recent MNHQ warnings over the way we post here Alice, this seems to be more goading.

I don't think this is goading but it was pointing out that a source that was provided didn't meet the purpose it was intended to which did hurt I imagine 😂 There really isn't any need to try to do the Admin's jobs for them as we can all read them.

Mackerson · 07/07/2023 19:42

Giles Brandreth said that the Queen offered her Sophie to help her and give her guidance. And Meghan turned the offer down. He was friendly with the Queen so I don't believe he would have lied about that.

I feel it’s the writer’s intent that matters. It comes across, in my opinion, as intended to diminish when used toward anyone critical of H&M’s behavior. Just an opinion, of course.

Am I personally embarrassed? Have you called me a Royalist? I’m American. 😂

No.

I have no idea what you feel about the Mo narchy

Just saying that "those that support the royal family" don't seem to mind the term

No diminishing. As I said I'll call those that support the royal family whatever they would like to be called. Nothing off or odd

Milcar · 07/07/2023 22:26

If a poster contradicts themselves it seems fair to be able to point that out, without being accused of goading

ILikeDinosaurs · 07/07/2023 22:31

Calling anyone who prefers to defend H&M as being "in their fan club" is also intended to diminish them.

No, they chose to leave to protect their mental health. The in/out deal was an attempt at compromise. If you tried to compromise with people who didn't want to compromise wouldn't you want to leave too? Or would you just knuckle under, despite being desperately unhappy?

In no other walk of life would people be expected to stay in a 'firm' if they didn't want to. Especially if it affected their MH. They've had more abuse/punishment for leaving than they did when they were still in! But they did the right thing.

StartupRepair · 07/07/2023 23:06

Likewise in no other walk of life would people expect to retain salary and benefits after leaving an organisation and publicly slagging it off on the way out.

I suspect you are exactly right. I have never done that so wouldn’t know.

Perhaps she means the £millions given by Charles (even after they left the UK)? Also he paid for Meghan's tour outfits, as she was a working royal. The bespoke Dior and Givenchy must have been costly, so they seem to have been subsided well.
Did they get other costs from the Sovereign Grant? Obviously, security and travel were free.

WinnieTheW0rm · 08/07/2023 07:24

I don't quite see how it was an attempt to compromise. Wasn't it the first thing they presented to the RF?

You can't really compromise when one side doesn't even know there's an issue to negotiate.

But even if it was, doesn't that suggest that they preferred leaving to the suggested compromise, so presumably would be pleased when no compromise was required, as leaving was the option that was preferred

I think the number of posts deleted shows that people are not mindful of the repeated warnings. As I posted it, I should know what the intention was and I made the point I intended to. This board is not the same since Harry married Meghan, its simply turned into what the board used to complain about.
