Harry and Meghan slammed by Spotify executive after podcast deal ends | The Independent

The old thread got closed, just as I was trying to quote tweet someone! So I've started this one, because this shitshow is still rumbling on

I’m still steaming about when Harry said he couldn’t spend the millions he inherited from his mother because that was to pass on to his children. The tone-deaf blithering entitlement of the wally 😡 . It wasn’t a stately pile he had inherited which he wanted to keep in the family, but cold hard cash that he just didn’t fancy dipping in to. Cheek.

SidekickSylvia · 01/07/2023 17:03

I think a couple of posters have put forward some great ideas for Harry's future, but giving him a bit too much credit; the guy's an absolute baffoon.

Gracewithoutend · 01/07/2023 17:07

I don't think it matters that he's a buffoon because Netflix can spend millions employing people to direct and edit him. It's more problematic that he thinks he knows better so tries to overrule them, but then he can always tell a story of his dead mother and people will forgive him anything.

Ohpleeeease · 01/07/2023 17:16

Is it possible there are restrictions on Harry’s inheritance? Maybe Diana’s Will has done his children a huge favour.

Maireas · 01/07/2023 17:19

No restrictions. He inherited about £30m. He also inherited from the Queen Mother, who left a sum to him because William would get the Duchy of Cornwall. He is a very rich man.

The Queen Mother had 10 great grandchildren in her lifetime. Why would she have been especially generous to Harry? What about the other 8 who also would not get the Duchy of Cornwall?

Maireas · 01/07/2023 17:26

Because she felt that he was the sibling of the one with ultimately the largest resource, and he would (she believed) be a working royal.

Still hardly seems fair to her other 8 greatgrandchlldren whose parents were considerably less wealthy than Harry's.

It's all speculation in any case. Nobody knows how much money Harry got from the Queen Mother, or indeed how much money she had left to give. There's no evidence whatsoever that Harry got any special favours from her.

Maireas · 01/07/2023 17:32

Ok, @IcedPurple .
I'm only going on what I have read.
You can poo- poo it if you wish.

And when they 'call upon world leaders' to do something or think a certain way, whether it's 'global' vaccination or Ukraine.

They 'stand with Ukraine', did you know? Gosh. That certainly told Joe Biden and NATO.

Her rambling, dissertation length "biography" on her Harry Walker Speaking Agency page is a masterpiece of grandiosity. I'm certain she wrote it.

The word 'global' is sprinkled liberally throughout, and we're told that the Duchess is "one of the most iconic public figures of this generation". Really?

@IcedPurple

Thanks for that link 🤣

Gracewithoutend · 01/07/2023 17:37

I read the queen mother left William and Harry, jointly £14m. But it was split unequally because of what Wiiliam would get in the future.
And Diana left £8.5m after taxes. But through in extents this had increased to £20m by the time they inherited. It was split equally.
They made £11.5m in investments! I need to get me some financial advisers like that.

Maireas · 01/07/2023 17:39

That's exactly what I read, @Gracewithoutend .
I believe it was invested very wisely and has given good dividends!

But did you notice on the Harry Walker website, which is part of WME, Harry isn't listed. The Obamas are. But Harry isn't. I think that's odd. Who's Harry's agent now?

Yes. I'd have given them my £273.26 and a button to invest if I'd known. I'd be a millionaire by now! And an owner of a button factory to boot!
"Lady Maireas and Her Grace entertain at the button factory. Bring your own sandwiches."

It’s interesting comparing Meghan’s with other people.

If Aliens came to earth and read all the Biographies, they’d probably say ‘Take me to your Meghan’

Yes. No mention of Harry. Weren't we told that they had both signed with Harry Walker three years ago?

Yes, most of the biographies are one or two paragraphs at most.

Just looking at her 'bio' it's actually comedy gold. Some other highlights include

"Meghan’s influence in fashion has been coined “The Meghan Effect” with items selling out within hours of her wearing them. Her ‘effect’ has transcended fashion, shifting cultural conversations as seen with her op-ed for the NY Times “The Losses We Share.”"

"her connection to community through the lens of learning, healing, and inspiring have helped define her as a cultural catalyst for positive change."

Definitely came from the same pen as the person who pledged to collaborate with the Queen and all relevant parties. Don't forget the relevant parties!

IcedPurple · 01/07/2023 17:44

Exactly. In 2020 when they arrived there. There are tons of articles about it. And someone said that Harry thanked his agent at WME at the front of his book. And I saw an article that both Harry and Meghan were charging £100,000 per talk. But no Harry listed at Harry Walkers. So is he signed up with someone else? Is he still an actual client with WME even?
It's odd. Is it indicative of anything? Had they already discovered he was a fucking grifter so they let him go? Or an administrative error? Or maybe he thinks having his picture and bio is declassé?

No excuses then, just plain greedy.

Indeed, @Ohpleeeease . Which makes his level of whining all the more insufferable.

Maybe Netflix just negotiated a better deal than Spotify then… a shut up and do what the professionals tell you clause

Of course not, someone else needs to give HIM money to live ... or he'll chuck toys out of the pram, tell fibs and manipulate situations to get some money ... he'll be hollering again soon enough for sone more handouts when they can't sell any further gossip or lies and the 10% of the world left who realise they're grifters/ master of nothing except stealing limelight / jumping on bandwagons from others hard work and ideas ... time will tell

CathyorClaire · 01/07/2023 20:16

Wait Harry killed a water buffalo? I thought William had a whole thing against poaching?

Harry killed a water buffalo, yes although it wasn't poaching. More like a big game hunt. I'm not going to link as it's upsetting but the story and pictures are easily available.

Willy's against poaching but apparently sees no contradiction in his conservation efforts and his love of stalking and killing large animals and birds bred for sport at royal residences. He's even encouraging George to take part.

I would love to see the touted modernised monarchy distance itself from all animal cruelty and exploitation but I'm not holding my breath.
