I read an article on succeeding at work and the writer had a theory that to be successful in a team situation you had to have at least two of the following qualities - hard worker, brilliant at the key skills required, likable and easy to get on with.
All three would be great but a team can thrive when everyone is a combination of at least two.
So you can forgive the grumpy co-worker who can fix everything instantly and works like a maniac, and you can put up with the one who isn’t brilliant at the job but is also a really hard worker who is wonderful to be around and keeps the team happy and focused. And there’s usually a place for the genius and loveable slacker because their expertise is just what you need and they are always in a positive supportive mood.
So you can see how that works in the Royal family ‘team’
The late Queen - had all three
Prince Philip - hard worker and was good at the things he focused on (not always the most likable - rude short temper)
Charles / Anne - like their father
William / Kate - have yet to put the hours in but they succeed on being very good at the job and being very likable.
Pre Meghan Harry was good at the job and seemed very likable - the most likable to many.
So with Meghan it looked like they were on to a winner - she was clearly a hard worker pre Harry, she looked like she’d have all the skills for the job, her public persona seemed lovely.
But what’s come out since seems to show that since leaving - Harry’s nice persona was very much a fair weather construct and he was only really good at the royaling but wasn’t able to turn that into another job, and he was never a hard worker.
With Meghan - I think the royal experience blew her brain because she seems to have lost the get up and go hard working ethic she had in her Suits and Tig days - she’s not highly enough skilled in the areas they’ve tried to pursue and there are way too many stories about how she is with staff to believe she’s easy going and easy to work with.
