I'm absolutely stunned by the U-turn by the Guardian. A few years ago that article could only have been some Piers Morgan column in the DM but from the Stuart Heritage! Incredible.
H&M's celebrity brand was always protected and pushed onto the public by certain types of media. People felt obliged to like them if they identify with specific liberal, feminist or progressive values. The same vibe as liking Greta Thunberg, Malala Yousafzai, Amal Clooney etc, although those are obviously far more deserving of their fame. There were loads of white, female influencers who "loved" Meghan as it was an easy way to show their performative liberalism. To dislike her or even attempt to give valid criticism meant you could instantly be branded a racist and that was too risky. It seems like the gloves are ultimately off now and everyone is free to express their opinion.
The question is where do they go from here?
They've not produced the goods. Their brand hasn't taken off. They've turned so many people against them, alienated his family.
Pretty sure this wasn't the 5 year plan they envisioned. Meghan still has many cards to play as she is in her home country with her children, mother and friends. She should honestly follow Wendi Deng's footsteps and marry upwards into eye-watering wealth but extremely discreetly. Then just enjoy her luxury life without making many media appearances anymore. If Harry returns to the UK alone someday then he might be reaccepted by the RF. Pretty sure W&K would find it difficult to ostracise him after all this. He can also continue a low-key life under the protection of the RF and maybe even remarry and have more kids.
