No great surprise there... Would love to hear his story about Zooming Prince Harry, I can only imagine his frustration with the whining ninny!

People seem to forget that the Princess of Wales was called Waity Katie for years, she was mocked for social climbing, criticised for not having a "proper job", her sister as well, her mother was mocked for having been an air hostess, Uncle Gary was a nutter, her grandfather was a coal miner, etc etc.

Same. Palace staff can be hushed up for the good of the monarchy but nobody would reprimand a Californian for exercising their free speech. He cannot say all that without giving his reasons.

I thought it was mentioned on MN that the Palace only protected William’s interests and not Harry’s? 🤔

Yes. She looks very discombobulated and sulky. Serves her right. She is of no consequence.

I thought the same.

“I want to hold a space for you as a guest to define yourself”
What does this even mean? Isn’t the guest there already? Then why does Meghan have to hold a space for them? And why do they have to define themselves? 🤨

H&M just aren’t interesting people. In fact, they come across as rather dull, self-centered, self-pitying, and a bit shallow. I suppose it is good they jumped on money-making opportunities while they could, because other than some sort of huge scandal I don’t know what would reignite interest in them.

I think Harry's problem is that for his entire life before he left the Royal Family everything was arranged for him and he literally did what he was told to do. His life has been choreographed for him. He says so himself in his own book. Even stuff like the army - he had the most senior army officials organising roles for him, for example - suggesting he become an Apache pilot and then even organising training at Sandringham.

He has never really had to organise his own life or work or really graft to be taken seriously- he had an idea (like Invictus) and his palace staff would do all the groundwork to make it happen, connect him to the right people etc. It is all in his own book. A phone call was made by one of his staff and he had a meeting with the guy who had put on the London Olympics.

If he did a podcast as a working Royal he would have literally had a team of people arrange it all for him, he would just turn up and be Prince Harry.

He doesn't have that anymore and he is floundering - lurching from one project to another but nothing of substance.

That sounds quite sad. I think it might be best for Harry to actually keep the same staff if that’s actually what they were doing. He probably felt trapped at the same time but clearly needs a lot of help doing things. But wasn’t there mention of him receiving advice from the Clinton’s campaign team? Was wondering if that was before or after moving to the States.

🤨

I think it means she'll shut up for a few mins so the guest can actually get a word in without being interrupted.

I think it means, hold onto your thoughts while I talk about me, we’ll find a space for you in the podcast later (when my intern interviews you)

Qbish · 17/06/2023 15:17

At base, Prince Harry is just not very intelligent. That is clear from Spare. But he also doesn't have street smarts. And now that the halo has worn off them, people are not afraid to talk truthfully about them. Especially in America, which owes them nothing.

And remember, Harry has not been afraid to criticise America - Americans hate that!

When he had Palace PR and protection, Harry was the most popular royal behind the queen.
Now he does his own PR, he's mocked on South Park, called a liar over the car chase, has become a bit of a laughing stock on Amercan TV shows, and has been labeled a fucking grifter.
I think its clear just how good a job the palace did protecting him.

Elior · 17/06/2023 15:19

Meghan is adept at moving really fast when she spots an opportunity before anybody gets to know her and gets to dislike her. That is why the marriage happened so quickly. I am almost certain that if they had had a longer courtship (anything close to normal) then they would likely no longer be together. She wasn't prepared to carve out her role in the royal family because when she realized she wouldn't be number one after all then she couldn't run fast enough.

She really played a thick, loaded guy who has not stopped looking miserable ever since it dawned on him. They have probably exhausted their money making potential based on their minimal talents and that's only because she hit the ground running with a smash n grab on US media.

SirQuintusAureliusMaximus · 17/06/2023 15:19

Yes. She looks very discombobulated and sulky. Serves her right. She is of no consequence.

These pictures were obviously a pap parade so if she's looking sulky it's because she is choosing to. I guess maybe she was going for 'sad' and 'wistful' and 'alone' so that we feel sorry for her.

Or maybe it was a 'promote some clothes/bags/accessories' job for which she is being paid and she was going for a sulky look to distract.

I remember reading on a gossip sight that when she was first engaged and married that that Canadian stylist woman who was her best friend for a while and then she ghosted when the stylist was cancelled were running a behind the scenes paid for promotion.

So a brand would contact the stylist and say can you get this jacket on Meghan. Stylist would be paid £££ (Because the advertising reach of photos means stuff sells out quickly because if enough people see it, a larger proportion would buy than through normal adverts). Meghan would wear it and she and Meghan would split the money. It was (according to the site) all under the radar because it would have been seen as "unlawfully" commercially capitalising on the royal family name.

I have zero idea whether it was true but it struck me at the time as being a plausible story and fits with the whole money obsessed grifter theme.

Just thinking now of that cringing moment when Harry said to the Disney CEO 'she does voice overs you know'. They are so embarrassing both of them.

I wonder what the future holds for them. I think if this trajectory continues she is most likely to leave him and marry someone with more serious wealth (ugly banker type or film producer) who would want her as a trophy and who will bank roll her political campaign to run for office (which I am sure is coming soon).

Because it is capturing exactly what a lot of people think and gave people like me a huge amount of joyful schadenfreude!!

Go and have a look at some of the comments on media articles on this and you'll see just how many people are delighted by this!

IWillNoLie · 17/06/2023 15:26

Their main bankable asset was their involvement in the Royal family and this was always going to rapidly diminish as they stepped away from them. Their first two years were crucial to benefit from this and build a sustainable brand. But they failed and Harry’s book finish off any chance they had. People may stare at a car crash but they don’t want to be involved in one.

They will need to par back their lifestyle to make the money they have now last because they are likely to have a very much more reduced income from here as minor celebs. Still a very good lifestyle by most people’s standards but not up their with the Hollywood glitterati and trust funds that they aspire to.

SirQuintusAureliusMaximus · 17/06/2023 15:30

@Qbish I just read that first amendment article

“I’ve got so much I want to say about the First Amendment as I sort of understand it, but it is bonkers.
“I don’t want to start going down the First Amendment route because that’s a huge subject and one which I don’t understand because I’ve only been here a short time."

How can you "sort of understand" the First Amendment and then say in a second breath "I don't understand" it? It's freedom of expression. There's not that much to understand.

Ironically the only real difference between the USA First amendment and the UK version of freedom of expression in the Europen Convention on Human Rights, is that in the USA, the right is much stronger - especially when placed against privacy rights of public figures/celebs. The journalistic right under the First Amendment almost always is a trump card.

He just comes across as really really thick.

Imagine making a fast buck by hinting there is a great big truth to be told and letting go of just enough to have lots of folk discuss what might happened…

This. All of this. I imagine the atmosphere on Montechino is pretty awkward right now.

That sounds like the lyrics to something Robbie Williams would sing.

It was unprofessional. I didn’t like the hint that he knows more and will spill it when drunk at a later period. I think whatever happened should have remained private.

This is how Harry has been acting towards his family.

I think it's sad but unsurprising. Businesses in the states are cut-throat. Harry was never prepared for that.

The best thing they can do now is to return to the UK, let Archie and Lili go to a nice private school and serve under William and Kate. Live a quiet and dutiful life. Settle comfortably in a nice stately home, I hope that's what they'll do. It would be the best outcome for them and their kids.

That sounds like my idea of hell

serving under an older sibling in a country that hates me

Exactly the same could be said of H&M and their comments on pretty much everyone they have spoken about.

Yet the overwhelming likelihood is that to some extent or another H (and maybe M, depending if they stay together) will be completely dependent upon the financial goodwill of the older brother and country that hates him/them.
