The sudden unusual turn on Princess Kate

Today, I wanted to share something thought-provoking that has caught my attention recently - a noticeable change in the way the media portrays Kate Middleton.

Some publications that previously showed favor towards Kate (DM cough, cough) have started publishing stories that present her in a more critical light. It's an interesting shift.

Firstly, there's a story circulating about an encounter between Kate and a convicted murderer at a charity event. Additionally, there's talk of the taxpayer potentially providing support for her family's struggling business. This raises questions about the circumstances surrounding their business venture and the implications it may have for public funds.

What's intriguing is the parallel being drawn between Kate's current media treatment and the scrutiny faced by Meghan Markle in the past. It's worth discussing whether there's a connection or simply a coincidence.

Furthermore, there's some buzz on Twitter suggesting that Kate may have unintentionally upstaged the King during the Chelsea Flower Show. While it may seem like harmless gossip, it's interesting to consider the impact of such events on the monarchy's reputation. Some even speculate that Camilla might have been involved in the leak of these stories, adding an extra layer to the intrigue.

Taking a step back, it's worth pondering whether the monarchy should be concerned about being upstaged in this day and age. Are we witnessing a shift in priorities and expectations?

It isn’t just the press.

The ‘royals’ have their own press offices ( all the better to constantly brief against each other) , photographers, and favoured ‘rota’ ( not proper journalists in my opinion).
They have tried YouTube , Insta reels , bot farms - all part of the PR machine necessary to keep them where they are .
They aren’t victims of the press. They are hand in hand

Its a business ( it’s in plain sight ‘the firm’)and their young children are a big part of it

This is a good point.

Xeren · 18/07/2023 09:24

On a completely different tangent, has anyone bought anything from Party Pieces? I’m so curious about what their products were like?

Howsimplywonderful · 18/07/2023 09:32

I bought stuff when the kids were young pre Brexit.

it was decent quality and had all the important elements in the range, so many other stores had plates but no cups etc. They even did cake mixes if I remember right and had nice cake toppers.

Dd 5 was obsessed by animals and wanted to live in Africa (until she saw soldier ants in action which put her off). They had a wide range of stuff with safari theme

We had safari animal hunts (with schleich) and animal passports with stamps when they found them. Magnetic fishing in the waterholes etc. Lots of fun.

Strangely (for a Republican 😀) yes I did! (Don’t think I was aware of royal connection at the time!)

I bought from them for all of my dd’s parties. As pp said, they had the full range and some different things too! I have to say it was a really excellent on-line shop: efficient, helpful service and good quality, tasteful products!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 18/07/2023 09:50

I used to buy from them years ago when dcs were little - 20+ years!
Quality was excellent at the time.

There's a photo of Archie in a bath tub shown in the Sussexes documentary.

Oh my God!
How is that relevant ?

Harry isn’t part of the tax funded ‘royals’!
We are paying for the Windsors - 350 million a year ( it’s hard to be exact as most of the real expense - security , unpaid tax - are kept secret ) and have every right to criticise how they manipulate and use their children for PR

So it's OK to sell pictures of your small children in the bath etc - as long as you're not funded by the tax-payer?
I hope the child appreciates the difference when they are older.

"It's OK mummy and daddy needed the cash so you had to be filmed in your bath. We're not funded by the tax-payer, you see"

Good grief, the outrage. It was a black and white pic, it showed his chest upwards, you'd see more on a beach.

There's very few pics of him, but this is obviously something to latch on to for the next ten years, how boring.

They can release what pictures they want. Or none at all if that's what they want. I feel I haven't a clue hardly what their two look like.

I think it became relevant for some people when Meghan's personal friend posted this on social media

The sudden unusual turn on Princess Kate
themessygarden · 18/07/2023 15:22

M & H's personal photographer posted that ?😯 Wasn't he the one who took the photos of Harry's children which were officially posted online.

It just beggars belief.

Howsimplywonderful · 18/07/2023 15:24

@themessygarden

He is clearly an idiot.

Clearly, and a bit of a dickhead to boot.

Didn't he post photos of his own children and wife, when he posted some of the first photos of Lili, knowing they would be scrutinised and distributed globally, most likely created far more interest than the Wales' children will ever garner.

Howsimplywonderful · 18/07/2023 15:36

He took a photo of Archie in the bath which was shown on the Netflix show so his hypocrisy is rather embarrassing.

And interesting how he never addressed people in his comment section bashing Louis.

While I agree that a small portion of the media need to stop labeling these kids, the most hate they get is from H&M supporters. They're the ones constantly saying that Louis is the new Harry and that he has autism

No, Rousettte. I wasn't outraged. Don't much care who chooses to publish pictures of their kids.
I was pointing out that Novella4 seems to think the whole "publish childrens photos or not" depends on whether their parents are subsidised by the tax-payer.
The only reason I can see to claim that, is it that enables H&M to do freely what W&K should be criticized for doing.
Makes no sense

Good god, I wouldn't dream of saying that.

That's despicable.

JeandeServiette · 18/07/2023 17:29

JADS · 17/07/2023 23:06

To be fair, politicians also use their kids to sell their wholesome image. The Blairs had Leo while they were at Number 10. Cameron used his son as a prop to his NHS 'reforms'. Boris was popping out kids to distract from his Brexit and Covid fiascos. Then you have all the American presidents and their children.

I'm not sure a Republic would help.

I couldn't pick Leo or any of the Cameron children out of a lineup now, though.

Some of the comments about Louis after the Jubilee were shocking, including advocating for violence. I also saw some really racist comments from people claiming to support Meghan but doing a terrible job of it (claiming that Archie would never behave that way because she would beat it out of him).

Who on earth wrote stuff like that?

I hope you reported it.

Howsimplywonderful · 18/07/2023 18:51

Seeing as Misam is an ambassador for ‘save the children U.K.’ you’d think he could find some children actually in need of saving rather than the Wales kids

and surely he is part of the whole hypocrisy he claims to despise by taking candid photos of the Sussex kids and publishing them.
