The sudden unusual turn on Princess Kate

Today, I wanted to share something thought-provoking that has caught my attention recently - a noticeable change in the way the media portrays Kate Middleton.

Some publications that previously showed favor towards Kate (DM cough, cough) have started publishing stories that present her in a more critical light. It's an interesting shift.

Firstly, there's a story circulating about an encounter between Kate and a convicted murderer at a charity event. Additionally, there's talk of the taxpayer potentially providing support for her family's struggling business. This raises questions about the circumstances surrounding their business venture and the implications it may have for public funds.

What's intriguing is the parallel being drawn between Kate's current media treatment and the scrutiny faced by Meghan Markle in the past. It's worth discussing whether there's a connection or simply a coincidence.

Furthermore, there's some buzz on Twitter suggesting that Kate may have unintentionally upstaged the King during the Chelsea Flower Show. While it may seem like harmless gossip, it's interesting to consider the impact of such events on the monarchy's reputation. Some even speculate that Camilla might have been involved in the leak of these stories, adding an extra layer to the intrigue.

Taking a step back, it's worth pondering whether the monarchy should be concerned about being upstaged in this day and age. Are we witnessing a shift in priorities and expectations?

@Mylovelygreendress - the parents only work part time, they can see their dcs in their extensive non-work hours. like other working parents do.

Has it occurred to you ( and others) that K and W want to spend time with their children ? The Family Time that is endlessly discussed on threads ? Or that the children want to go to Wimbledon? George and Charlotte certainly seemed to enjoy the match yesterday . I took my 3 when they were younger and they loved it . I also took them to golf tournaments, air shoes etc . Why ? Because I wanted to spend time with them and I wanted them to enjoy the experiences.
Or is all this just another way to criticise W and K ?

They are bringing them out for public scrutiny. It’s completely different to non royal families. Comparing them to ordinary families is laughable. Every moment they are on camera is being photographed and open to criticism. Lip readers are employed to find out what they are saying to each other.

There is ample opportunity for the family to spend time together. Kate is there on a professional capacity these days. People don’t bring their kids to work with them.

AliceOlive · 17/07/2023 12:03

People absolutely bring their kids to work with them when work involves public events where children are allowed.

My Mom had to attend public events as part of her work. I went along whenever possible.

Serenster · 17/07/2023 12:20

People are seriously taking the position that the Wales family should not ever take their children out to enjoy public events with their parents, and also should do nothing to get them used to the public attention that will be a constant in their life ? That’s quite the take.

Howsimplywonderful · 17/07/2023 12:32

I think they’ve taken the sensible step of taking them to things they enjoy when they feel they’re ready.

My children would love to go to the Wimbledon final and would be delighted to see me handing out prizes to the winners

Ah but it’s Kate and William . They can’t do anything right in some people’s eyes .

pilates · 17/07/2023 13:31

Perhaps the royal children should be locked away never to be seen or in the real world they spend some quality time with their parents. What a wonderful day they must have had - it was a brilliant match.

I remember them . Chilling.
How dare Kate and William spend time with their children !

tigger2022 · 17/07/2023 17:10

The kids are really lucky they got to go to Wimbledon, it’s funny people are talking about it like they were tortured but I think some just want to hate W&K (mainly Kate) for anything.

upinaballoon · 17/07/2023 17:35

Well, they've been to footie, at least George has, and that's about 2 hours. They've been to a Wimbledon final which was longer. I hope Camilla takes them to a few hours of cricket soon.

upinaballoon · 17/07/2023 17:36

The sudden, unusual turn against Kate?? No, the papers come and go, always stirring, and life-long malicious types love it and lap it up.

Toujoursla896 · 17/07/2023 19:49

Tbh I don’t think any children, whether they are royal, or live on a Yorkshire farm, or sing on a talent show, should ever appear on tv. Fame is always a corrupting influence which alters your relationships with others. It rarely ends well.

When the children are older they will constantly be betrayed by “friends” , or acquaintances, or staff, selling stories or photos to the tabloids, and they will live in constant fear of their gym coach, their hairdresser, their friend’s cousin betraying them.

They may enjoy it in the short term, and we may enjoy seeing them, but the world is a different place now to when the late Queen, or even Prince Charles, grew up. There is no privacy nowadays.

There are already Instagram accounts which focus on Charlotte and her fashion “choices”. You Tube channels which analyse their body language. Double page spreads in Hello magazine featuring the children!

One of the reasons that I am a Republican is that I think it is morally wrong to:

(a) subject children, who by definition cannot consent, to this public voyeuristic parade and

(b) determine a child’s future, something they may not want, at birth, without them being able to have any free choice over their own career, and in some instances, over their choice of partner, which imho amounts to psychological torture!

Novella4 · 17/07/2023 19:52

@Toujoursla896

I have heard that argument from other republicans but haven’t seen it so well expressed .
good post

AliceOlive · 17/07/2023 19:57

Then perhaps press policies need to be changed, rather than locking children up and not allowing them to go anywhere or enjoy any public event.

Rewis · 29/05/2023 09:27

They'll publish positive and negative stories. See what gets more clicks and then go with that for x amount of time. Then they will do again and re-assess.

Exactly. They will write absolutely anything, and if something gets more attention they’ll write more of it.

So only child free people can run for public office, then? Because the children of plenty of democratically elected leaders also live their lives under this voyeuristic parade, as you term it.

Novella4 · 17/07/2023 21:08

Utter nonsense.

The ‘royals’ sell their their children from the moment they step out of the hospital.
Christmas cards, insta reels, pap walk with homemade pasta , first day of term…
Selling the perfect family is a core part of the firm’s business now,

They are celebrities but without the graft or talent

To be fair, politicians also use their kids to sell their wholesome image. The Blairs had Leo while they were at Number 10. Cameron used his son as a prop to his NHS 'reforms'. Boris was popping out kids to distract from his Brexit and Covid fiascos. Then you have all the American presidents and their children.

I'm not sure a Republic would help.

Getting rid of the monarchy won't get rid of child exploitation though.

Case in point, the USA and their proliferation of child stars.

What makes you so sure that a non royal famous family won't do the same thing as the royal family are doing in showing their kids to the public and getting the public to be interested in them?

See the Kennedys, the Kardashians, brangelina’s kids for reference.

Lots of people have their careers predetermined. Farmers, others going into the family business.

My sibling & myself- it was made very clear to us from a young age what our path was going to be. Ditto for several other people I know. The royals family aren’t special in that department in having their lives mapped out for them.
