The sudden unusual turn on Princess Kate

Today, I wanted to share something thought-provoking that has caught my attention recently - a noticeable change in the way the media portrays Kate Middleton.

Some publications that previously showed favor towards Kate (DM cough, cough) have started publishing stories that present her in a more critical light. It's an interesting shift.

Firstly, there's a story circulating about an encounter between Kate and a convicted murderer at a charity event. Additionally, there's talk of the taxpayer potentially providing support for her family's struggling business. This raises questions about the circumstances surrounding their business venture and the implications it may have for public funds.

What's intriguing is the parallel being drawn between Kate's current media treatment and the scrutiny faced by Meghan Markle in the past. It's worth discussing whether there's a connection or simply a coincidence.

Furthermore, there's some buzz on Twitter suggesting that Kate may have unintentionally upstaged the King during the Chelsea Flower Show. While it may seem like harmless gossip, it's interesting to consider the impact of such events on the monarchy's reputation. Some even speculate that Camilla might have been involved in the leak of these stories, adding an extra layer to the intrigue.

Taking a step back, it's worth pondering whether the monarchy should be concerned about being upstaged in this day and age. Are we witnessing a shift in priorities and expectations?

Very interested to note that nobody has yet criticised William or Harry for lazily spending time with their own children instead of leaving them with a nanny

They're not on the taxpayer's dime

@Roussette

You might want to read the post you replied to again. You don’t want people to think you’ve gone soft on Willliam 🤣

Just seen that today Kate opened her friend’s new project, a centre to help women in the justice system so that they can serve their sentences in the community and stay with their children rather than all of the damage that prison and separation causes, which will help with their rehabilitation as well as the children’s mental health. What a monster.

Disgusting behaviour.

/sarcasm (just in case).

Serenster · 27/06/2023 18:42

She’s been seen meeting people practically every day at some engagement or other.

I think we can be fairly sure that if that had been the case last year (when the list was compiled) it would have been reflected in the figures.

Except you can’t be sure. Because there are plenty of things that never make the Court Circular, yet have clearly happened behind the scenes.

Recently for example the Princess of Wales launched her Early Years task force, with NatWest, Unilever, Aviva, Deloitte, IKEA, Co-op, The LEGO Group and Iceland involved alongside the campaign. That kind of commitment from corporates doesn’t just happen - it will have involved Kate using her soft power to convene people and get their commitment to join the task force. And if it’s her ability to open doors and get in front of people that they relied on, then she will herself have needed to interact with the key decision-makers at the corporate backers. But we knew nothing about this at all until the announcement. Certianly there were no “meetings with NatWest” etc in the Court Circular.

Ditto William on this week’s Homewards announcement. The number of partners involved is kept under wraps, so you have no idea of the work that’s going on behind the scenes until they are ready to announce it.

CathyorClaire · 27/06/2023 19:53

Just seen that today Kate opened her friend’s new project

That ups the engagements this month to a giddy total of ten.

Ha! I was imagining pitchforks and wicker men coming for Kate deniers just then 😁

Harold was off the taxpayer's dime less than a year after Archie was born so he escapes with a bound.

Willy however wasn't dubbed 'Workshy Wills' for nothing.

A plague on both their freeloading ways.

He was called “workshy wills” by idiots for not doing many engagements while he was not a working member of the royal family because he had a full-time job flying an air ambulance in Anglesey (and raising a young family). Do you have a full-time job and young children, and if so how many engagements have you done for the royal family in the past 12 months?

CathyorClaire · 27/06/2023 21:10

he had a full-time job flying an air ambulance in Anglesey

It was 20 hours a week and 'royal sources' suggested the job was a fig leaf to fool the public:

Serenster · 27/06/2023 21:56

Different job, CathyorClaire. He was working as a pilot for RAF Search and Rescue when living in Anglesey, and was full time.

He was always declared to be part time when working for the East Anglia Air Ambulance (20 hours a week being…part time hours). By which time he and Kate did have a young family, and he was also performing Royal duties.

alloutofluck · 28/06/2023 08:18

@Serenster the staff talk the corporates on behalf of Kate. She doesn't actually make the phone calls. And when she does make the phone calls, it appears on the court circular as an engagement.

But I agree william has the same low number of engagements in past years as Kate. Why the focus just on Kate?

Serenster · 28/06/2023 09:53

r the staff talk the corporates on behalf of Kate.

You work in the palace, do you? Who knew!!

CathyorClaire · 28/06/2023 10:18

I was responding to the air ambulance bit rather than the location but fair dos.

Yep. By March 2016 he was up to a stonking four:

And let's not forget skipping the Commonwealth Day service in favour of a lad's ski holiday:

Even the evil Harold made that one.

CathyorClaire · 28/06/2023 10:22

Oh. Link fault there.

Try this:

Serenster · 28/06/2023 10:29

Forgive me, but so don’t see “man skips well attended church service to go on holiday” as the crime of the century. 😀

CathyorClaire · 28/06/2023 10:46

Illustrates a pattern though...

Chocolateship · 28/06/2023 10:58

It illustrates that perhaps they are more like us than people think. I can't think of many people in long term relationships and marriages who don't have ups and downs, don't have spats or disagreements and stuff. It's weirder that it gets reported on.

tigger2022 · 28/06/2023 12:26

The royal family are weird in so many ways but it’s strange how people really object to the ways in which they are just like us - having to balance work and raising a family and being judged no matter what you do, going on holiday, working part-time, networking, getting a job to be located near a university boyfriend, getting a graduate level job… none of these things would be like WOAH if they weren’t royal lol

Also amuses me what a meaningless metric “number of engagements” is yet people really cling to it. You may as well judge their productivity by length of emails or number of toilet breaks.

RYGO · 28/06/2023 13:19

This comments make me laugh.

Public is behind them. Latest poll. So Kate and William should keep doing what they are doing.

Given how few people in the general public approve of Harry and Meghan, you could be forgiven for thinking that practically all of them are posting on MN
