The sudden unusual turn on Princess Kate

Today, I wanted to share something thought-provoking that has caught my attention recently - a noticeable change in the way the media portrays Kate Middleton.

Some publications that previously showed favor towards Kate (DM cough, cough) have started publishing stories that present her in a more critical light. It's an interesting shift.

Firstly, there's a story circulating about an encounter between Kate and a convicted murderer at a charity event. Additionally, there's talk of the taxpayer potentially providing support for her family's struggling business. This raises questions about the circumstances surrounding their business venture and the implications it may have for public funds.

What's intriguing is the parallel being drawn between Kate's current media treatment and the scrutiny faced by Meghan Markle in the past. It's worth discussing whether there's a connection or simply a coincidence.

Furthermore, there's some buzz on Twitter suggesting that Kate may have unintentionally upstaged the King during the Chelsea Flower Show. While it may seem like harmless gossip, it's interesting to consider the impact of such events on the monarchy's reputation. Some even speculate that Camilla might have been involved in the leak of these stories, adding an extra layer to the intrigue.

Taking a step back, it's worth pondering whether the monarchy should be concerned about being upstaged in this day and age. Are we witnessing a shift in priorities and expectations?

So a woman should be quiet and dutiful? Otherwise we bash her endlessly? If you think Kate hasn't had staff stir the pot for her, you are very naive. As several reporters have said not the record, their sources are people working for the royals.

@tigger2022 I did not say no other woman has had her work or career affected by the press, no. Its juts certain posters will excuse Kates lack of career while criticising Megan's current situation. If you're not doing that, I am not referring to you. We all know there have been multiple threads doing that here so lets not pretend it isn't happening.

I think there's a difference between being quiet and dutiful and courting the media when it suits and then complaining when it doesn't. It seems kate has a strong support network behind her of family and friends which is no doubt more valuable in dealing with intrusive media than selling 'your truth' including things about others which is hugely hypocritical. I don't doubt that at all and didn't say that wasn't the case, but that's the same on both sides. I'm just curious what meaningful work either Harry or Meghan have actually done that we are supposed to be supporting? Seems she is wisely distancing behalf from the mess Harry currently is.

Just as a point of interest Kate was still being cited as the laziest royal as recently as December 2022:

That is ordered by the number of engagements, are we not counting her being a mother to young children for anything?

Being a mother of young children might give her a pass if she was doing the lot all day every day but she isn't.

A royal 'engagement' can consist of a half-hour telephone call and still get counted. I'm sure the team of on call nannies could cope.

Erm nah… I’d choose doing the school run and having some time to see my children in the evenings over the approval of randos on the internet. Number of engagements really tells you nothing - I mean Anne turns up, shakes a hand, leaves, and that’s an engagement. She goes next door and shakes a hand, that’s 2. It’s a really useless metric. Catherine has several enormous projects that must take the time of many engagements. She’s been seen meeting people practically every day at some engagement or other. She might have been there a few minutes or a few hours, there’s no way of telling from that list! Such a basic way of misunderstanding that 😵

CathyorClaire · 27/06/2023 16:56

I think we can be fairly sure that if that had been the case last year (when the list was compiled) it would have been reflected in the figures.

Will be interesting to see if all these meetings boost her position this year and which royal fans trip over themselves then to tell us that the base figures mean nothing 😀

Many work meetings are half hour chats - often on video/telephone call these days. Should they not count towards a person's pay?

That's fine when you're doing a 37hr-60hr job isn't it?

Imagine if everyone’s performance was judged by how many meetings they attended in a year!

GrouchyKiwi · 27/06/2023 17:03

Personally I think the Royals need to be seen to be doing more, but I'm not going to discount any meetings/phone calls with organisations as work.

Its not about giving her a pass as let's be real it doesn't actually affect anyone does it? But she has said before she likes to be as hands on as she can at home whilst balancing other things, I think that's to be applauded to be honest.

Depends if they then get the rest of the week off as me-time while not losing a penny in income really.

Chocolateship · 27/06/2023 17:10

So many salty people on here, no doubt the same who expect people to love and support M&H even though they've done nothing of any value but just because. I'm not a Royalist by any stretch and genuinely not arsed if they were axed tomorrow, but the reaches people make to make Kate out to be lazy or whatever is sad (not that she gives a fuck about any of your opinions I'm sure).

tigger2022 · 27/06/2023 17:12

Very interested to note that nobody has yet criticised William or Harry for lazily spending time with their own children instead of leaving them with a nanny

They're men though, they'll never face the same level of scrutiny and criticism as a woman.

Samcro · 27/06/2023 17:16

I don’t care if Kate wants to work less, so she can spend time with her children. Who can blame her for that.
it’s the pretence that annoys me, we are supposed to believe that they are working hard.

Imagine the outcry on MN if Kate did ever leave her kids with the nanny to go on the Royal Hand Shaking Tour 2023 as per the much beloved “non-lazy”-members-of-the-royal-family-with-zero-young-children, it’d be a public health incident

Is she saying she's working hard? I've never heard her say it herself.

She has always been upfront that she’s trying to balance the role with the needs of her kids, and has basically ignored all the womanshaming so far so I don’t think she cares.

Howsimplywonderful · 27/06/2023 17:25

@tigger2022

I agree completely agree

tigger2022 · 27/06/2023 17:27

Just seen that today Kate opened her friend’s new project, a centre to help women in the justice system so that they can serve their sentences in the community and stay with their children rather than all of the damage that prison and separation causes, which will help with their rehabilitation as well as the children’s mental health. What a monster.

Lady Edwina Grosvenor is a very impressive woman. I love this initiative.
