I've probably garbled that, but that's the gist of it.

When some are done with praying for ‘Princess’ Meghan and her juggling spouse, I wonder if they’d care to give us their opinion on their little mouthpiece.

I’m sure some of us guys would like to know if he speaks his own truth or channels theirs.

Anyway, I too don’t get the haterz thing. I don’t think they are hated - more laughed at these days.

AllIeveknewonlyou · 24/05/2023 15:50

@Observationalanomaly @AutumnCrow

Do not make me laugh 🤣🤣🤣

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/05/2023 15:55

“Haterz” sounds like a brand of lawnmower to me- I’m sure there is one called “Hayter”

You're right, oakleaffy, there is - I'd forgotten that!! Grin

Is that 'cross my heart and hope to die I SO WAS told as a journalism student to listen to peoples' voicemails!' mouthpiece? because breaking the law in multiple ways is exactly the sort of job you'd give a newbie, isn't it?

ArcaneWireless · 24/05/2023 16:22

I just think that señor catastrophic would be running to them every two minutes asking if this was ok to say or no.

I’d laugh my clappers off if he was actually giving us a sanitised version.

TrashyPanda · 24/05/2023 18:17

Does anyone take OS seriously?

everyone I know just laughs at him.

why do H&M want him as their spokesman? It doesn’t help their credibility.

He will have way too much dirt to be ever ditched. He's got a book coming out some time too. Wonder how much help he didn't get this time ? 😉

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/05/2023 18:32

Just been reading the judgement in full - I don't know if it's been linked yet, but if anyone's interested it's here: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Duke-of-Sussex-v-SSHD-Final.pdf

I hadn't realised Harry expected to be consulted in Ravec's actual decision around whether he should be "allowed to pay", and wonder what the point was when his lawyers were already presenting his case. It's hard to avoid the impression that he considered his very presence might swing things, but anyway the judge had this to say about it:

"It is not obvious why fairness demanded that one particular principal be afforded the opportunity to make formal representations on that issue. In any event, RAVEC knew the claimant considered he should be permitted to pay for protective security from the Metropolitan Police Service"

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/05/2023 18:36

Why do H&M want (Scobie) as their spokesman?

Hate to remind you, TrashyPanda, but weren't we assured only recently that H&M didn't even know who he is? Wink

In light of Justice Warby's remarks about how details of a previous court case reached him within minutes this seems unlikely, but there you go ...

behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas · 24/05/2023 20:59

any Oligarch, any corrupt Saudi Crown Prince with the best London lawyers, any travelling despot, etc etc could hire our highly trained police protection officers and by extension their intelligence

Don't be silly, Russian oligarchs, saudis are not British. Why would they get met police protection, just because Harry did? Harry is BRITISH and part of the royal family. Not any old rich person from wherever.

tigger2022 · 24/05/2023 21:06

Never mind oligarchs. Harry isn’t even that rich compared to some rich people. Do we want the Beckhams, Dysons, Clooneys, Ratcliffes, Bransons, etc all buying police officers and leaving none to ignore burglaries for the rest of us?

Met protection isn't just for British VIPs. It's for foreign VIPs too. So any visiting VIP might get protection but if they didnt, they aren't able to buy it. Under Harry's scheme they would be.

tigger2022 · 24/05/2023 21:10

Actually maybe that’s the solution. Harry is allowed to buy police but he gets the same kind of service as the rest of us.
Harry: someone has raided my mansion!
Police: do you happen to know who did it?
Harry: what? no…
Police: Oh. closes crime reference number have you considered getting things insured?

Indeed. As I have said previously, Special Protection work full time and protect politicians as well as Royals. We have a friend who is a member of Special Protection. He was very busy looking after Joe Biden at QE’s funeral. They are allocated to Royals, Prime Ministers and visiting foreign dignitaries etc. They are unlikely to be available for a casual visit from the Sussexes.

Police: Does your house have an even or an odd number?
Harry: Even
Police: Ah well, unfortunately, this week we're only accepting crimes on odd numbered houses. That will be £100,000 please.

Boulshired · 24/05/2023 21:47

the lack of IPP status will certainly impact the access to a global stage, will Invictus stump up the cost of security in Germany and future host nations. Whilst the book and Netflix have filled the coffers the extra publicity must surely be draining them.

Police: Someone broke in to your house, and no one was hurt? Ah. Well, yes, let me just get someone there as soon as possible. Yes. Definitely interestd. We'll send someone round soon

Community Support Officer: hello,I'm here about the break in. Did you get any photos or videos? No? Oh. Right. Did you see them? No? Oh.... Right. Well, what did they take? Ah, the PS5 and some jewellery? Right. Well. Fill in this form.

The end.

None of them are royal. Surely that's a special status, isn't it.

the result of this is not even about Harry - the H&M superfans can’t seem to understand that this isn’t a personal vendetta, it’s to keep the door closed on having the Met police for hire by any random wealthy person.

If he got the opportunity to pay for it - and I don’t think he ever wanted to, it was a sop to people saying he was costing the taxpayer - then any Oligarch, any corrupt Saudi Crown Prince with the best London lawyers, any travelling despot, etc etc could hire our highly trained police protection officers and by extension their intelligence. We don’t need any of them risking their lives for MBS, as an example. It would have set a frightening precedent, which Prince Harry obviously didn’t think or care about. It’s not all about him!

if he’s in danger, he WILL get taxpayer funded protection officers! Which is excellent! But if he’s not in danger according to all their intelligence (these people he wants so much) then his own unarmed security is fine!

Exactly this. There are very, very few people in the entire world that can afford to pay for Met security AND also need it. 99% would be involved in high level political crimes, corruption or something of that like. Think of all the mysterious oligarch deaths following the Ukraine war. Those were all people who would have jumped at the chance to pay for security like that.

Everything H&M touches turns to crap. Harry mistakenly sees himself as a good guy and a victim but objectively speaking, this ruling had no other outcome as an option because there are very few people in the world who can afford to pay for Met security but are not granted it. If the ruling went through then it would open a can of worms for dictators, oligarchs and all kinds of sketchy shit that have nothing to do with the Met and taxpayers.

He's not the the monarch or the heir to the throne. None of the other royals get full time police protection, so why would they make an exception for harry?

If you are a working royal, then you get protection on official duties. Only the King and Queen, plus William and family have full time security.

Harry decided he didn’t want to be a working royal anymore.

And now he is reaping what he has sewn. At great expense.
