To be fair, though, he was scheduled for Tuesday and presumably plans for his daughter’s birthday had been made around that. Judge suddenly decides he needs to be there on Monday, he’s half the world away, not just up the road. Bit high-handed of the judge, no?

The trial date was fixed months ago, and I suspect they were similarly told at least weeks ago when witnesses should attend. Every lawyer advising him would have been well aware of the cardinal sin of wasting court time.

I think they would have been hyper aware of having recently told the world they couldn't move Archie's birthday party for his grandfather's coronation. Moving Lilibet's party for Harry to testify would have not been a good PR move.
