H&M vs Backgrid

H&M have apparently ’demanded’ pap footage from Backgrid, according to TMZ.

Their lawyer has replied with the following:

In America, as I'm sure you know, property belongs to the owner of it: Third parties cannot just demand it be given to them, as perhaps Kings can do. Perhaps you should sit down with your client and advise them that his English rules of royal prerogative to demand that the citizenry hand over their property to the Crown were rejected by this country long ago. We stand by our founding fathers

Just honestly, the use of the words 'near catastrophic car chase' and 'relentless pursuit' implies a dramatic high speed chase. But of course they row back on that, and are now saying oh but we didn't say it was high speed. Reminds me of oh but we didn't say racism.

They are like toddlers.

Maybe they stay at a place a few times before getting discounts, and the more advertising, then they can ask for discounts. I have no idea. Not sure why you would seem so sure of this.

All this source is saying is that celebrities who stay at this hotel must be aware there is no confidentiality.

The taxi left the police station, ie was moving, but it then got caught behind a another stationary vehicle. They were waiting, and hoping, for the vehicle to start moving as it eventually did. No one was thinking of getting out of the car. The paps 'swarmed on them' (cab drivers words) and started taking the photos. So as it had driven out of the police station, they should have had their seatbelts on and they couldn't get out of the car because of the paps and nowhere to go.
The cab driver, who seemed a fair and honest guy, has talked about this.
Personally, I couldn't care less if they wore their seatbelts or not.

How would you know what discussions were had just before the paps showed up. They realised they are stuck, could have decided they will jump out and do something who knows. The main thing is that there is no evidence of them in a moving car without seatbelts - unlike Rishi.
I see no reason for people to bang on about something they never actually witnessed.

I think peoole are wrong to laugh because I do think the guy is coming across as fair and reasonable - and knowing his stuff. He makes very good points.

But, at the same time, he's saying that it was the head of the security firm, Tom Buda, who decided they should go to the police station and get in the taxi - which is contrary to what people on here have said, ie that it was the police who said they needed to go to the police station and came up with the taxi idea.
Also, he says that Harry's security were told to keep to the highway rules. But Harry's security has said they had to speed down FDR Drive,at 80mph to try to escape.
It's clear that this guy, John Miller, has been in touch with the security firm and is repeating what he's been told by them. So all the details are from their perspective. And indeed this video was made for "the Sussex Squad" with warnings that anything posted against it, would be deleted. So probably not even handed.
But I've watched other videos that @notanotheroneagain has posted whose content providers are clearly telling the truth about what they've been told. Even though we can't be sure that what they've been told is exactly true, it's indicative that there is definitely truth to the fact that this was made into an unnecessarily unpleasant journey by the paps, and although nothing near catastrophic happened, someone most definitely could have got hurt.

I would hate that too, @Serenster . All that hustling. Harry has a deal with Dior to wear their clothing at events eg the Coronation. It's all this kind of freebies/promotion lifestyle, isn't it?

I didn't witness it but the taxi driver did. He was sat in the front seat next to the security guard and he heard Meghan say, "oh god" as the paps arrived when they stopped behind the truck. So he could hear everything that was said in the taxi. They weren't getting out. He's been quite extensively questioned about this by a ton of news agencies. I understand you don't believe people on here. But this guy was very nice about H M and D. Hes not anti them in anyway. He's stuck up for them. Why would you choose not to believe him just because they didn't wear seatbelts?

But the poster of this video chose wha clips to show. So they didn't show the CNN clip saying that it wasn't as bad as Harry's team made out.
I've said he sounds fair and intelligent. But it's also true that what he's said has been disputed by other people. I've also said, it's clear from his account that someone could have got injured.

I've been positive about this clip and others you've posted. Why are you having a go at me?

He never ever mentioned the seatbelts in any capacity for that matter.

Why something that was never any topic of conversation is banged on about is beyond me.

I would say in Harry's case it's a take it or leave it situation.

Don't see how someone who makes millions could be seen is 'hustling'.

A bit like saying Federer/Djockovic/Nadal are 'hustling' when they advertise a watch 🙄

He repeats comments they made. He says they didn't talk.
No, he didn't mention seatbelts but he said they drove out of the precinct and came to anhalt behind a truck and Meghan swore because the paps descended on them.
It's you banging on that they took off their belts because they were going to get out of the cab. It's clear from what the taxi driver said, that was never the case.

Federer managed to still make the list of the world’s top ten highest-earning sports stars last year despite retiring in September and drastically cutting down his tournament schedule in the previous years too. He’s in that position because brands are literally falling over themselves to collaborate with him.

As an aside ( because sometimes people say on here that the USA has no interest in the UK) I have just come back from the USA and so many people I encountered spoke to me about " the Big Day" and "King Charles " etc etc in a positive way. No one at all mentioned H and M. They didn't crop up at all in conversations. Of course I wasn't able to speak to each and every American . 😁
