Harry's a rich man based on inheritances alone, they could have lived quite comfortably relative to most of us, if they'd chosen a quiet life.

Well there’s various issues - he’s “relatively rich” but needs higher level security than movie stars etc - they haven’t had terrorist threats made against them. Normally people with this sort of threat level have security provided by the state. He’s paying for it, there’s been numbers like £2m a year banded about, even if it’s quarter that, his inheritance would run out before they were middle aged.

She sells advertising space - particularly if they can write a negative story about her (gets more clicks than positive ones about her or anything about Catherine), so until that changes, any photo of her that can be shoved with the made up angry story of the day will sell. Photos of Tom Cruise or other celebrities going about putting petrol in their car or buying some cheese would only sell if it happens to be something interesting to do with them has happened that day - a pap photo of Meghan will sell and sell well not matter what. So it’s worth following them about just in case you get a clear photo of mundane behaviour.

The Netflix series and Harry's book were both within the last 6 months (? I think, can't remember the date of the NF series). That is very recent, given how heavily publicised they were, and how controversial. So it is not surprising there is still a lot of interest - interest that can't be switched on and off at their convenience.

I replied to your claims about racism not existing here twice already but it’s worth doing again because you say it no matter what was said. You laughed and mocked me and another poster despite the racist comment being deleted. You have on numerous occasions really upset POC on this board with your constant laughing and denying of racism and referring to it when it happens as ‘people disagreeing with me’. Posts are deleted and you still deny the racism. That is why other posters have referred to your behaviour as racist. You mock us even when it happens. Oh but I completely believe Meghan thought celebrity “private life” was an option, I’m sure she did see the royals like tv /music /movie stars that should expect interest in big personal like who they are dating, how many dcs, if they buy a new house or interest in their work and if they attend any official high profile/red carpet events, yet be able to quietly go about their business in non-work mode.

Royal is a different level of interest and the press view them as differently “owned” by the public. They don’t get to have a private life at all unless they disappear completely. never show up to a public event, never be seen in a city centre, do no charity work.

Personally I think the scattergun approach of making accusations of racism, all but one of which hasn't met MNHQ's definition of racism, trivialises a very real problem.

Meghan and Harry's high profile has come about because they chose to create a massive storm over Harry's family, defame them, lie about them and continue this appalling behaviour for 2 years.

If they had gone to Canada, settled down to the quiet life of service they said they wanted, rather than spill their guts on TV/books etc, then none of this would be the case.

However they wanted a mansion in California, wealth, fame and influence. That was the real motivation.

That’s precisely what they want, though, interest that’s switched on and off at their convenience. So “look at me” when it’s a glamorous do or a “Oh, I’m quite off-guard!” (but coincidentally looking v good with a Cartier watch on). And, as I said, absolutely no scrutiny and no taking the Mickey either.

@mixedrecycling - the nf series was definitely 2022, not sure how far back in the year though, and Harrys book was notable in that she didn’t do any promotion or be seen with him for any of his “work” around it - yet the papers here have talked about her constantly, not him.

Since the Queen died, Meghans not really done anything, but I can’t see the papers getting bored soon.

Well, I don’t think a suburban semi would cut it but yes, had they chosen to live outside the limelight they could have lived a quiet, non dramatic existence (as other members of the royal family have done). But it turns out that their definition of ‘privacy’ is not really the same as everybody else’s…. They actually want to be fêted celebrities which is not the same thing at all!!

Yes, as far as I am concerned I have no history of run-ins with s certain poster yet she starts insulting me. Very unpleasant. Defend your idols by all means but resorting to personal attacks is desperate.

Or, possibly, they do but it is not achievable - i.e. a certain lifestyle but they don't have the money for it. So they have to stir up interest (to sell the NF series, the book etc) but then resent having done it. I don't think it is a recipe for happiness.

Nothing against England but the three bed semi’s I’ve seen are unattractive, especially to an American eye.

They DO need safety and a semi would not be safe.

But yea there’s a balance between a semi and a Montecito mansion.
