She was mega. And yet, she lived a quiet life, carried on working, and cut back on public engagements and so they left her alone. That's a lesson on how to do it.

I just don’t get why people would ever think they would just disappear. They don’t actually appear to say they would and I think they were always going to want to continue making money and do charity stuff. And Harry obviously wanted to tell his side of things, whether you agree with that or not.

If I was them, I would have just bought a ranch somewhere and beefed up security. I think that about all famous people though, make your money and then live quietly to reduce the danger they face from paparazzi and weirdos. People seem to want to keep working in some way of another, whether it’s to make a difference or a name for themselves, not something I understand, but it’s common. It’s why we still have rock stars performing at 80 years of age.😅

Wanting a private life doesn't mean never see them again or hear from them. It means more private than what they had.

There have been times where Meghan hasn't been seen for weeks or months and guess what happens...threads pop up by idiots demanding to know where she is, why is she hiding etc.

To be fair, Montecito/Santa Barbara is actually pretty private and quiet. A lot of celebrities live there peacefully.

No it's not delusional in this day and age. In the UK, kate, prince harry and probably most of the royal family are more well known than her. However, online newspapers are looking for clicks, and unfortunately she delivers. The prints are paying for photos is to feed their readers, and they seem to love it in a love/ hate way and there is no denying that.

Harry at his last speech in the UK in Jan 20 at a dinner function for the charity Sentabale said he hoped for a more peaceful life:

”But I hope that helps you understand what it had to come to, that I would step my family back from all I have ever known,to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life.”

So not privacy as such but peaceful…

But we're not talking about them living in the UK. They can live anywhere they want. Jackie Onassis was a huge story. The interest in her was Diana like. And yet she managed to live a quiet, private life whilst still being involved with good causes and working. I'm amazed that you'd think they couldn't do the same if they chose. After all, no one was interested in Meghan Markle for her own achievements, they're interested because she could, and did, give gossip about the RF. If she and Harry had stayed discreet and classy, the interest in them would have faded quite quickly. They chose a different route but they could easily live a private life if that's what they wanted to do.

Her fans were interested. They just don't have the type of weird obsession the UK have with some celebrities. I also think that weirdness is unique to the Uk.

Interestingly, Meghan had 3 million followers before joining the royal family and this is from someone MN constantly refers to as D-lister from cable tv.

The people who don’t like Harry and Meghan have twisted them wanting to have a private life, as in a public figure having personal relationships etc, into them saying they were going off never to be seen in public again.

Famous people often talk about the importance of having a private life but they still work and do interviews, and appearances for charity. That doesn’t mean they don’t want a private life where they’re not constantly followed.

We don’t see Meghan and Harry’s day to day life. We only see bits. He done and book, they did a few interviews. I’ve seen photos of them at a concert and things like that. It’s a tiny percentage of the time we don’t see them.

Facile. 😂😂 No, it's not. Jackie Onassis was massively famous when she returned to live in NYC after Onassis's death. But through discretion and control she established a quiet life for herself.
Harry and Meghan moved to California during the pandemic, a time when they could fly under the radar. Instead they hired paps to take photos of them delivering food.
If they wanted to live a private life, as the op asked, they could have done it. It just means keeping a low profile. Remember people asking what's happened to Meghan? She kept a low profile. Eventually, people would lose interest in her and she'd become a bit of a curio that people would read an article about every so often and then lose interest. But if you're going to provide inside gossip about one of the most famous families in the world, ie Queen Elizabeth II's family, of course you're going to keep fuelling your publicity and keeping yourself in the limelight.

Tom Cruise travels on the Tube when he comes to the UK. Now he's famous. Although, tbf, his face can change a bit so that might be act as a sort of disguise! Hehe. I love Tom. No horrid comments about him, please. 🙂 ❤
