I have a few questions about this photo.

  1. Everything I have read said it was supposed to be working Royals only on the balcony, but there is Camilla's grandchildren and page boys. Why?
  2. Why this particular pose? I would have thought William and Kate would be in a more prominent position beside Charles and Camilla, instead off way off to the side. So what is the reasoning behind the positioning?

I doubt they'll have been able to resize the metal and stones, the bit they'll have adjusted is the padding inside them.

Camillas was originally made for the Queen Mum.

It was actually Queen Mary’s crown that she wore. No new crown was made for her as it has been for previous consorts. Another thing that people’s forget is that the Queen was only 25 when she wore those heavy crowns, so it was probably easier for her as a young fit adult than it would be for Charles and Camilla 😂

Blimey people read a lot into things 🤷‍♀️

Don't they just! I see nothing at all to read into it.

It honestly looks as if Camillas family are more important than Charles family.

Yes, the abiding impression of the day is that Charles' family isn't important. 😂

🙈🙈🙈

CarolinaInTheMorning · 09/05/2023 13:47

And why did Camilla have 2 lookalikes there?

Her Queen's Companions were there to help her disrobe and re-robe. There is a bit of undressing and dressing involved, more for the King than for the Queen, but still some. I wondered when I heard that she was going to have young page boys rather than maids of honour as train bearers, how they were going to handle the removal of robes, etc. As soon as I saw the two women in the procession, I realized that was the answer.

Apparently he did - but only for 'logistical reasons' and just for half an hour. Didn't see anyone as they were busy with photographs and balcony appearances.

Maybe he was hanging around, hoping he’d get a last minute call to join them.

Maireas · 09/05/2023 19:54

He was putting vol au vents in his pockets. Dior made them extra deep.

Papergirl1968 · 09/05/2023 20:16

Lord Oliver Cholmondeley is a twin. I wonder why his brother Alexander wasn't also chosen to be a page. Perhaps to even things out because Alexander is the Earl of Rocksavage, and presumably heir to the estate being the elder twin?

Did Dior make his suit they didn't mention it 😃

Taking some snaps for Spare 2?

I was going to say that he flew into BP, whizzed to the loo, and then grabbed a bit of buffet to take with him. I was going to suggest sausage rolls but a polybag full of vol au vents and chocolate cake will do well. Maybe he fleetingly saw someone to say hello to, who knows.

That is indeed what I'd read somewhere before the coronation.

Papergirl1968 · 10/05/2023 15:02

Yep, that's that someone suggested on another thread too @limoncello23 First out of the womb takes the prize with royalty and aristocracy. It would make a great plot for a book!

So it would. You might want to check out Brat Farrar by Josephine Tey.

@Lochroy It was said it would only be working Royals as a reason why Harry was not invited to be on the balcony.
It honestly looks as if Camillas family are more important than Charles family.

Said by whom, the daily fail. It clearly wasn’t working royals only so who ever said it was talking made up nonsense.

Apart from the pages and the queen's attendants the rest of the balcony was working royals and minor children.

Papergirl1968 · 10/05/2023 21:04

Will do, thanks @CarolinaInTheMorning

That's not the same picture as the one in the OP. Camilla is waving in one and not the other. I think the pigeon just flew away..

googlejourney · 11/05/2023 11:09

Working royals and those that had a role in the day were included on the balcony.

(Similar to a royal wedding where the wedding party would be on the balcony on the day)

HOWLING at this.

milveycrohn · 13/05/2023 04:18

I heard that including the page boys was a last minute decision as they needed them to help with Charles and Camilla's robes.

rattymol · 13/05/2023 11:11

It's not just page boys. Edward and Sophie's kids are not working royals but they are on the balcony.
It all makes no sense.

Because they're the children of Senior working Royals? In the same way Charlotte & Louis were on the balcony. And Princess Anne's Husband.

You do take things incredibly literally. Touch some grass.
You're really scraping the barrel to find anything to criticise.
