M&H Missing From Coronation Portraits

tigger2022 · 08/05/2023 21:46

Ok I’ll preface this by admitting I’m not the biggest fan of Meghan or Harry BUT…

I did find them missing from the coronation group portrait a little sad. Those portraits are historical artefacts that will be referenced in the history books for centuries and I really think if they’d turned up they would’ve been invited to be in them, working royals or not. He’s the son of the king. It’s like they erased themselves from history.

(Andrew… I don’t feel sorry for at all. His mug was not missed 😂)

Same with the group portrait with all the little kiddies and HMQ before she died. That opportunity is not coming back 😭

Does anyone else think that they’re mainly responsible for their own undoing but also feel a bit sorry for them when they see things like this? What a mess to untangle.

as “Historical artefacts” they perfectly and accurately portray the situation as it is.

as a historian I’ll say that they most certainly aren’t the only record of the situation so don’t worry too much.

AskMeMore · 08/05/2023 22:50

@QueenOfHiraeth Except Archie could have come if he had been invited. He was not.

PurposefulBear · 08/05/2023 22:51

He’s got himself into a proper mess and has absolutely no way out.

DM reporting tonight he was seen to say “I’m fed up of the way they treat me”… to Jack Brooksbank, which kind of shouts UTTERLY SELF DELUSIONAL imho

AskMeMore · 08/05/2023 22:51

In terms of history, photos like this are pretty important. Prince Andrews Emily Matliss interview will be a far more historical artefact of importance.

AskMeMore · 08/05/2023 22:51

Unimportant

HooplaLaLa · 08/05/2023 22:52

In a flurry of bonkers posts over the past few days, this one takes the absolute biscuit! Neither of them were present when the photos were taken.
Even if they were there, no non-working members of the RF were in the photos released today. Not even Prince George, or the other Wales children who come above Harry in the OOS.
The Sussexes chose to be non-working royals. They’re probably delighted they don’t have to be a big part of the royal circus anymore. I certainly don’t think they’ve given half as much thought to the photos half as you have, OP!
Think you might need to have a cup of tea and a sit down.

He wasn't invited to the coronation ceremony, which is quite sensible considering he was only just turning 4. It's not like the king banned Harry from bringing his children to this country.

I don’t know, I actually think (and hope) that in 100 years Prince Andrew will have been largely forgotten. He’ll be in the overloaded recycle bin of history.

I'm sure even if both attended they would not be in the photos, because they would just use them as Netflix fodder.

I think that may well have been a RF fear. They seem to have gone to some lengths to ensure Harry's not been photographed with the rest of the family.
The far too much of a coincidence for Harry to have been obscured by a candle and then Ann's feathers.

It’s probably a bit shit having your job and your family all tangled up together all your life. Like being expected to take on the family farm.

Of course they are all loaded which probably helps all round though.

(I reckon I’d swap watching Noels House Party with annoying brothers for a million quid or so)

Honestly, 100% this. And to continue your analogy, Harry has set fire to the farm. Honestly, if my sister had done to me what Harry has done to William, I would never speak to her again unless the most grovelling apology was forthcoming.

tigger2022 · 08/05/2023 22:56

@HooplaLaLa geez calm down don’t be so rude, if you don’t want to join in with the discussion then don’t. I will never understand people who join threads part way through to tell us you’re not interested. Go and find another topic you like then 😂

M & H made their bed, now they need to lie in it.

Meghan stayed away and Harry left (I believe) within an hour to head home for Archie's birthday. So it is, what it is.

I used to very much like the pair of them, but no longer have much sympathy for either of them.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 08/05/2023 23:03

OP - they weren't there (well, Harry was for an hour or so, but not long enough for photos). Their behaviour has made it abundantly clear that they loathe the RF. Their behaviour has been hurtful and damaging to the RF.

On what fucking planet would they need to be included in the official Coronation photos, given how revolting their behaviour has been, over an extended period of time?

Personally, I'm astounded they have been allowed to keep their titles and that someone found a wee seat for Harry in the Abbey at all.

Coronation photos, my arse. They should be cut off, full stop.

This is one portrait that cannot be misinterpreted or excused.

Well obviously it can be misinterpreted because those are not blackamoors, they are statues of women, angels, etc that happen to be crafted in black.

@SnowAtRedRocks No matter how good parents Harry & Meghan are, the children will grow up and question things about their childhood as we all have. My parents were great and I had a happy upbringing but, as an adult, I can see some instances when they made decisions that I might have preferred to be different. This might well be one of those for A&L

Sugarfree23 · 08/05/2023 23:11

The issue isn't H&M wanting to make their own way, live in Meghans country earn their own cash, do big business deals.
The issue is they are trying to trade of their Royal ties and have slagged Harry's family off.
Trust has gone, they no longer trust each other.

Yes the official photos that have been released are Working Royals. I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a load of other photos with non-working Royals and Camillas family DS, DC & DGC etc etc .

Coxspurplepippin · 08/05/2023 23:12

unbelieveable22, you're completely wrong on this and the fact that you've shared it without checking facts would suggest you're stirring.. The original tweet has fabricated a supposedly rascist element where non exists. The comments on the tweet show how quickly something false can get out of hand.

Nah. Not the big stuff. Kids who have been treated well are loyal to mum and dad. Those that haven’t don’t.

tigger2022 · 08/05/2023 22:49

Oh yeah. Not to derail the thread but I’ve been there. Keep work/family separate that’s my advice 😬 I don’t think that’s actually what H&M have done though, their careers are still completely tied with each other and also still with the RF tho now in an adversarial way.

Well they took your advice! Think of the working royals like a family business. You wouldn’t put photos on a company website of people who don’t work there.

God, I hope my kids challenge me! I didn't go through this to bring up unquestioning drones! A lot of stuff will probably be due to different norms but I hope we talk about it.I have loads of chats with my dc about my childhood and how things are different now.

HooplaLaLa · 08/05/2023 23:31

@tigger2022 I am interested! Just my view is that non-inclusion in the photos isn’t particularly an issue! I doubt it is to H&M, so I cannot understand why people who don’t even know them feel bad for them!
Sorry it doesn’t align with your concern for two grown adults who’ve taken the choice to remove themselves from active royal life!

My kids challenge me. But they don’t doubt we’ve made the right decisions for them to do with estranged family. They’re fully aware of what has happened.

respectfully though, they only know your narrative, because unless you're mega famous, there wont be another one that's publicly available, whereas Archie and Lilibet will be able to google the alternative narrative and weigh the two up
