M&H Missing From Coronation Portraits

Ok I’ll preface this by admitting I’m not the biggest fan of Meghan or Harry BUT…

I did find them missing from the coronation group portrait a little sad. Those portraits are historical artefacts that will be referenced in the history books for centuries and I really think if they’d turned up they would’ve been invited to be in them, working royals or not. He’s the son of the king. It’s like they erased themselves from history.

(Andrew… I don’t feel sorry for at all. His mug was not missed 😂)

Same with the group portrait with all the little kiddies and HMQ before she died. That opportunity is not coming back 😭

Does anyone else think that they’re mainly responsible for their own undoing but also feel a bit sorry for them when they see things like this? What a mess to untangle.

respectfully though, they only know your narrative, because unless you're mega famous, there wont be another one that's publicly available, whereas Archie and Lilibet will be able to google the alternative narrative and weigh the two up

Actually no. They’ve heard my parents ‘side’ from them and they’ve heard and seen things from other places too. It’s still always mum and dad.

They’re not pining for random relatives, who treated us badly and are all kinds of phobic, that are irrelevant to their lives. We’ve all moved on.

We still live rent free in the heads of those relatives and their pals, all still saying we’ll be back one day and must have regrets, apparently once our kids were 18, they’d go to them.....they’re still waiting.

They weren't there and they also aren't working royals.

Exactly this.

Harry went

And left as soon as he could. He wasn't there for the photos. And presumably wouldn't have wanted to not have his wife in them anyway

Sugarfree23 · 09/05/2023 00:43

I was looking at one of the papers websites for photos and it flashed up Harry did go to the Palace but didn't see the family.
Probably because they had stuff like photos and balcony appearances both the one at the back and the front

@SnowAtRedRocks No matter how good parents Harry & Meghan are, the children will grow up and question things about their childhood as we all have. My parents were great and I had a happy upbringing but, as an adult, I can see some instances when they made decisions that I might have preferred to be different. This might well be one of those for A&L

Maybe. But A&L might be happier that they didn’t grow up with the tabloids and social media saying things like ‘this one is the the serious one. this one’s is the organiser. and this one is the cheeky misbehaved one.’ Families can do this. And it can absolutely stifle personalities. Imagine if the worlds tabloids and, now, social media are doing it?

Charles might feel sad but Harry & Meghan, in choosing not to come over as a family, have made a very clear statement.

The birthday is, in my opinion a pale excuse as most 4 year olds do not understand if their party is on their birthday itself or on a different day, many times it is different as parties are usually at weekends anyway.

I suspect, in years to come, Archie and Lilibet may also feel sad that their parents chose to miss such a big part of history which, even though they are too small to attend themselves, they could have been around

I agree with this. It was good Harry came, but even as it was so brief that's says something in itself. Although, it was a lose-lose situation because the focus would have been on them. I'm assuming after the funeral and how awkward that was, they didn't want to experience similar so soon. Just sad all around to have a family event and activity choose not to go (for any family)

bussteward · 09/05/2023 04:13

But they’ll be dead in centuries’ time. They won’t care. And what history books are going to have a big focus on portraits of the hopefully by then obsolete royal family?

Willmafrockfit · 09/05/2023 04:17

it said specifically Working Royals
of which they are not

Riapia · 09/05/2023 04:34

Can’t you see OP it’s all been done to piss you off. Be the better person, rise above it.
😉😁😁

This is one portrait that cannot be misinterpreted or excused.

Yeah you might have been advised to read the posts under that tweet before reposting it as inaccurately and for the same shitstirring reasons she tweeted it. Thankfully she's been called out for it. Same as you have.

User1685409 · 09/05/2023 04:40

It's like a work photo more than a family photo, similar to something out of Succession only royal.

Well debunked tigger2022

You should apologise graciously unbelievable22

The ones on the left of mantelpiece (that’s the one I can focus on best, as right side is too blurry when I zoom in) in Camilla’s portrait seem to be different to the ones on the mantelpiece in the rfc image. According to Twitter the ones in the Camilla portrait are called ‘The Weeping Women’ and have a different story behind them. So perhaps not debunked after all. It’s exploding on Twitter now.

BMW6 · 09/05/2023 13:32

Retracting her original statement, the activist tweeted: "I stand corrected if these are not Blackamoor statues behind Camilla as I thought but of Weeping Women.

milveycrohn · 09/05/2023 15:56

A few weeks ago, it was stated in the papers that Charles had wanted a formal pic of him with William and Harry, but of course, Harry left before the photographs were taken.

Sunscummailfail · 09/05/2023 15:58

H & M are in the Official Coronation Programme though.

I don’t think they are exactly the same ones but if you look around the room there seems to be a set of lamps with figurines in black all of a similar style. It’s too fuzzy to see what’s on the mantelpiece behind Camilla but they look like they could be from the same collection.

There’s lots of historical precedent for painting people in and out of official royal portraits. Lots of historical artefacts are pretty dubious.
(although I take your general point op)

Napoleonsjosephine · 09/05/2023 16:22

Op it’s not a family portrait. It’s a working royal portrait. I think that’s where your confusion lies. Harry and Meghan would not be in it as non working royals even if they were physically present.

bellabasset · 09/05/2023 16:49

Harry came over on his own, wore the morning suit he was asked to wear, and quietly went home to his family. He spoke to his cousins, was chatting and smiling with his aunt, Anne. It's a shame he's not in the photos with his family but he's got fences to mend.

It’s a bit of a stretch to say he was chatting and smiling with his aunt, she spoke to him briefly, it lasted less than 30 seconds, he answered with one word and kept a rictus terrified manic grin on his face as he did so.

Sugarfree23 · 09/05/2023 16:57

The fences and bridges aren't going to be built while he dodges his family.

If he'd stayed the night I'm sure he could have had some time to actually talk with his family. Either later in the evening or breakfast the next morning.

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2023 17:01

They can photoshop him in

LindorDoubleChoc · 09/05/2023 17:25

I agree that the whole state of affairs is sad. I hope H&M are happy together, and stay happy and have no regrets and that they feel they made the right decision in years to come.

Harry's attendance was token and obviously done like that so that no one could accuse him of not coming. If they had both come there would have been a press and SM field day. So they avoided it.

Sad all round. I always feels massive fractions in families are sad - unless the abuse has been profound.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 09/05/2023 17:53

The thing is OP they don't see it as "their undoing". They wanted a different kind of life - they have it. Not everyone wants to be remembered by history (they will, though). Not everybody cares about that sort of thing.
