Looking like they have seriously shortened the coronation route - probably don't want seeing thin crowds on TV exposing the overall lack of enthusiasm for the event.

You say you want less money spent, then complain when action is taken to cut down on costs.

Just admit it - you just want to complain.

MrsFinkelstein · 10/04/2023 20:06

Plus the reason QE2's coronation route was longer was to maximise the amount of people who could see her.

There will be so much TV coverage in comparison it's not as necessary.

But don't let facts get in the way of your, as always, inaccurate rant.

Time will tell. Funny how some people criticise Charles for not slimming down the monarchy/coronation celebrations, then use any reductions as an example of reduced public support.

QE2's funeral route was well attended.

That was a totally different kettle of fish without precedent in modern times as you say we shall see. If it's chucking down with rain it will be diehards only.

That making points hardly a rant I can do those ! 😀

No.

vera99 · 10/04/2023 20:13

This was the State Opening of Parliament in 2022, and I watched it live and was shocked by the lack of crowds despite having a load of barriers and crowd control in place and the Queen was represented by a crown on a cushion.

I was musing on exactly this while watching a news item on making one of the rattly overblown coaches they'll be using more comfortable.

Wondering if even the diehards will be up for the usual three or four days in advance camping out they subject themselves to for the 'best spots' in the pissing rain May so often serves up

I thought it rained loads for one of the last events. People queued in it over night.

Did it?

Which?

PurplePlayhouse · 10/04/2023 20:45

Yes, if that's what they choose to do.

Wheresthebeach · 10/04/2023 20:49

No.

Anonymouseposter · 10/04/2023 22:14

It’s basically a family matter between Harry and his Dad. I hope they sort it out in a way they’re happy with. It doesn’t affect me at all so none of my business.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 11/04/2023 06:14

@Anonymouseposter

What? You are not frothing about it or composing badly written imaginary letters pretending to be Harry at 3 in the morning? What's wrong with you?

This sensible post qualifies you as an anti-monarchist! Off with your head!

googlejourney · 11/04/2023 06:49

Those posters saying there won't be much of a turn out for the coronation, interest is waning etc. that's just wishful thinking in their part. They don't care etc.

Don't underestimate the interest and excitement in this historic event and the fondness the British public have for Charles. He is much loved, as is the monarchy, and such a huge user if our culture.

If these posters are hoping the coronation will be a flop with nobody appearing they will be very disappointed.

I keep seeing the same posters go on about it being a flop etc

They don’t care but post the most on the topic. I think they’re more interested than many

pilates · 11/04/2023 07:01

Agree Marsha

tatalan · 11/04/2023 07:03

I think a lot of people will turn out to celebrate, that's not even a question. It's a historic day.

This is interesting though.

Legoninjago1 · 11/04/2023 07:05

In reply to the original question - NO.

xnyl · 11/04/2023 07:08

No

purpledalmation · 11/04/2023 08:46

Millions of people around the world and here will be watching, so there's no chance of it being a flop.

CathyorClaire · 11/04/2023 13:36

Thanks, MarshaBradyo

I was safely tucked up on the sofa watching anything but the endless coverage so it passed me by just like the attraction in doing it always has 😉

ThePoshUns · 11/04/2023 17:36

Yes for the drama / soap opera.

MyDarlingClementine · 11/04/2023 22:29

Very much I want them to go.

It's a unique historical event, they are in an incredible position to be able to be at the heart of this truly ancient amazing process!
Its Harry's birthright and something to talk to his dc about although they should also be there.

Harry is the essence of Henry viii wild angry young man and he stood out at the funerals.

You cannot take Harrys blood he is royal and son of the king.

I think he should go with Megan and make it work for them, wear amazing clothes look sensational and outclass them as they did on previous occasions.
