Even as a child Harry was racist

How many times can Harry be excused as having unconscious bias? He was already making fun of people’s accents even as a child.

According to a new book that's coming out from Robert Jobson:

When he was a little boy, around eight years old, his mother took him and William for a ride on a London bus as a treat, arranged by her police protection officer Inspector Ken Wharfe.

On the bus, Diana had to tell Harry to stop mimicking the Sikh bus conductor’s pronounced Punjabi accent every time a passenger pressed the bell to get off. The conductor, a jovial chap wearing a bright yellow turban, was relaxed about Harry’s casual racism, but Diana was so mortified that she eventually told Ken Wharfe to abandon the trip.

Diana, Ken, William and Harry all got off at Green Park and Diana immediately smacked Harry and told him: ‘Don’t you ever do that again.’

Afterwards, she made Harry write to Inspector Wharfe to apologise for his behaviour and for spoiling the day he’d arranged for the boys.
I have spoken to Wharfe, who confirms the incident, and I have also seen the letter, still in his possession, in which Harry jokes about the phrase he used.

As he was a child at the time, he can probably be forgiven — but the incident demonstrates that on one issue at least, Diana was in complete agreement with Charles. She would not tolerate any form of racism from their two sons.

Not born evil, but someone who clearly never learned since he was a child that making fun of people for looking and sounding different from him is wrong?

I am no fan of Harry, but this post….. 😐

LadyWithLapdog · 07/04/2023 21:25

Mogginsthemog · 07/04/2023 21:26

Diana smacked Harry?

Why is that surprising?

MamoruHisaishi · 07/04/2023 21:26

She was known to smack her kids from what i’ve seen from a video before

QEII gave the Nazi salute, or something.

What’s the point of this thread again?

turnthebiglightoff · 07/04/2023 21:29

Never heard so much bullshit in my life.

Goodread1 · 07/04/2023 21:30

I am not a massive fan of his,

He is not the brightest spark in the box is he,

He has let the Genie out and he will reap the Aftermath effects with his Reputation for many years to come

Have a feeling its going to bite him on the Arse And he is going to regret it one day,

Silly man

DannyZukosSmile · 07/04/2023 21:31

What a nasty thread. Hmm

It’s bizarre isn’t it? People seem to lose all rational thought when it comes to The Royals.

MamoruHisaishi · 07/04/2023 21:33

This is the point of this post:

Harry said: ‘I think the same process that I went through regarding my own unconscious bias would be hugely beneficial to them.
‘It's not racism, but unconscious bias if not confronted, if not acknowledged, if not learned and grown from, that can then move into racism.

He was told off as a child by his own mother that making fun of peoples accents was wrong. Yet he did it numerous times as an adult and now claims to speak as someone who is a fighter of racism. Harry has called his own racist behaviour as unconscious bias and ‘probably’ bigoted instead of acknowledging that he was a racist.

Cannot stand Harry but i don't think we can refer to something he did when he was 8 as an indication of his racism. Kids can do stupid things... if this story is even true. Which I doubt.

Before it was a symbol of hate

Beantag · 07/04/2023 21:35

I don't think it's a nasty post. He has chosen to make money off the back of speaking about racism as a white man, and therefore of course he should be held to a higher standard and hypocrisy highlighted. Some people have this notion that all children say things like this as they don't know any better, I don't think that's true, some people are just horrible and nasty when they're children and carry it on into adulthood.

Theimpossiblegirl · 07/04/2023 21:36

Oh for fucks sake get a grip.

MamoruHisaishi · 07/04/2023 21:37

He can always sue. He also made fun of a woman’s physical appearance and disability as a child in his own book, and doesn't seem to think there's anything wrong with it. I wouldn't have judged him so harshly since he was a child but him acting like some sort of moral crusader against racism is what annoys me.

I don't believe this. As a child though any child for that matter saying racist comments get it from the parents it's learnt behaviour. It's taught within the home @MamoruHisaishi

It may be taught but the point is, he was also told off as a child that he shouldn’t make fun of others accents, and garnered public criticism as an adult because of the racist things he said and did and yet he kept doing it. He only finally claimed to become ‘enlightened’ when he got with Meghan, and even then, it’s only when his own wife and kids that he thinks are affected that he has an issue with. But it’s no big deal to him when a person of colour who has no relation to him suffers from her own racist experience at the hands of a member of the royal household. He is willing to defend lady Hussey and even claim to love her even though the royal family have said that what happened was wrong.

He didn't say anything racist, he (apparently) mimicked someone's accent. That's not something learned from parents ffs.

kirinm · 07/04/2023 21:45

Jesus Christ. If this story was true, this is a failing on the part of his parents. It isn't even a racist issue. It is a small child mimicking an accent he doesn't hear often. I would also stop my child doing it but it doesn't make that child fucking racist.

My grandfather was Indian and I always remember having to say to my mum that I didn't understand what he was saying to me. Was I a racist child?

Singapore4 · 07/04/2023 21:48

@magicthree yes it is racists to mimick someone's accent. Do it in a workplace and see if HR don't pull you up on it.

Just to be clear I don't believe a word from OP. Racism is taught within the home I'm just saying generally not regarding H.
