Coronation Concert?

AskAwayAgain · 24/03/2023 10:25

Does anyone know who will be performing at the concert?

I am not dismissive of spoken word - although what spoken word? Poetry? Speeches? Prose? But it is not what was advertised when the announcement was made about a concert with big stars. So yes it looks like they could not get enough big stars.

Probably same old has beens!

😂best response ever!

Coxspurplepippin · 25/03/2023 20:09

The description on the ballot application reads:

'the concert will see a world-class orchestra play interpretations of musical favourites fronted by fantastic entertainers, alongside performers from the world of dance and the arts. The performances will be supported by staging and effects located on the Castle's East Lawn and will also feature a selection of spoken word sequences delivered by stars of stage and screen.'

So it's been on the programme from the start. Sorry that doesn't fit your narrative.

We have tickets. For some reason I thought it was in London, bit worried about the logistics and hoping they have a park and ride!

8roses · 25/04/2023 12:42

There’s also a big screen showing in st James park - Katy Perry, Freya Ridings, Paloma Faith, Bocelli, commonwealth choir., coronation choir

polkadotdalmation · 25/04/2023 12:52

I like Freya ridings and bocelli too. Sounds a nice mix.

AskAwayAgain · 25/04/2023 13:02

Sounds like a fudge they managed to pull together.

We've just had an email to say we have tickets. I nominated teen as my guest (let's hope that she is a closet Take That and Katie Perry fan).

I think we might leg it to get a train back to London before it finishes (which is a bit of a shame, but I don't want to be stranded).

DorotheaDiamond · 25/04/2023 13:47

I’m assuming (ha) they will be running trains after!

Madcats · 25/04/2023 13:50

Yep the trains are certainly running back to Waterloo past midnight (I didn't look beyond that). I just don't fancy being in a queue of 5,000+ with a tired teen.

OneFrenchEgg · 25/04/2023 14:29

Oh just went to claim them and they all gone. Brilliant. Had til 27th and at work.

OneFrenchEgg · 25/04/2023 14:32

And I think they get reallocated so I can't get them now . How frustrating, why give a deadline to claim by.

BlueJay12 · 25/04/2023 14:42

@OneFrenchEgg I've just had the same thing happen to me. Live up north and was trying to sort logistics for travel & accommodation, thinking I had 2 days, and then got an email within 2 hours saying they'd been snapped up 😡

OneFrenchEgg · 25/04/2023 14:49

@BlueJay12 it's so annoying why didn't they issue them and say within three hours before going to the next lot. Assume we will be excluded from any further issue now

BlueJay12 · 25/04/2023 14:54

Yes @OneFrenchEgg I suspect that was our one chance. To be honest I didn't enter the ballot with any expectations and the practicalities of getting there weren't going to be easy - so I thought I would sort a hotel out first (which was proving difficult) and then accept them. Ah well, watching it with a glass of wine on the sofa is a far cheaper option and I don't have to drive 5 hours to get to it 😆

Madcats · 25/04/2023 14:57

My email said I had until noon on 27 to claim mine.

I suspect everybody trying to claim has crashed the website.

Keep trying

Check Twitter . They all went.

Nowisthesummerofourdiscontent · 25/04/2023 15:02

I hope you got in quickly. I got the mail saying I had tickets so was going to claim them this evening (I'm at work) only to be told two hours later they'd all gone. Very poorly executed.

OneFrenchEgg · 25/04/2023 15:09

It's awful. Told two days and then they'd go and it was about two minutes from what's on Twitter.

JaneJeffer · 25/04/2023 15:19

Katy Perry? I'd rather listen to Wacca Macca Thumbs Aloft than her screeching.

Madcats · 25/04/2023 15:27

Oh well. What a stupid way to do things.

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 25/04/2023 15:29

I got the email at 12.03, I was in the queue 10 minutes later but before I got to the front they had all gone.

So anyone who does not work from home or in a relaxed office has no chance? How stupid.

I waited to check with dh that he could still go, then got an email saying they were all gone. What a joke! So if you work and can't be glued to your phone you don't get a chance.

Sudeko · 25/04/2023 17:41

Who wants to see the same bunch of saggy, sweaty popstars again and again?
