Was there anything Kate didn't excel at?

Having read many articles Kate (pippa & James also) is so accomplished since she was tiny.
She is very sporty.. strong swimmer, excellent skier, hockey player, lacrosse, athletics, netball.. Plays piano very well & also was lead in schools drama production. Excelled at art.
It seems the Middleton's didn't do much in the way of equistrian sports?
Would love my dc to be as accomplished & well rounded. Can't afford Marlborough or any private for that matter!

She was only 11? I am in total shock! She looks no different to now!

Give her her due, she did that well. Getting that accent must've been very hard when I think about how she speaks now!

I thought she was fantastic in that video, very confident & a fine strong voice!

@MrsMaxDeWinter I think we're talking past each other. I understood you were replying to a user who's name is based on a Dickens character, and quoting from Austen. I thought the Austen quote was great but it would have been even more perfect had the user you were replying to happened to have an Austen-based user name as well. 🙂

Sorry! My next username will be CarolineBingleysHaughtyDemeanour

Got you! @Gruffalo

Have to go now, so goodbye little mouse!

(See what I did there?)

Don’t know her, so can’t comment specifically, but so much this -
“Private education can train mediocre kids to be decent in many areas and excel at exams with enough tutoring.”

Doesn't say much for Harry then, does it? D & E from Eton, no less. And his art teacher admitted to "helping" him

Psychonabike · 15/03/2023 15:07

Of course she is an all-rounder. Money buys you lots of opportunities to try things, therefore lots of opportunities to find things you can do well. She went to an exclusive expensive school with family money behind her.

It's the school equivalent of:

Working for a living?

Spot on, this made me laugh 😆

Kate came from a far more stable background with a loving family supporting her.

Harry did not have that and was grieving for the tragedy of losing his mother in an horrific accident.
I cut him and William slack because of what they had to deal with.
But please let's not make this into yet another Harry thread.

Guys, the A* grade came in at A-level in 2010. She took her A-levels an entire decade before that, in 2000. She was one grade off the highest possible set of grades at the time.

but OP is trying to say Kate is exceptional - but most on here don't seem to think so. I don't think anyone has ever said Harry is exceptional.

Mommymoments · 15/03/2023 15:20

@PreparationPreparationPrep yes I was talking about Kate & also mentioned Pippa.. Wtf does Harry need to be dragged into everything?

To paraphrase Dumbledore, a person's choices say more about them than their abilities. Kate "might" have been good in school but what has she done with it, apart from marry a prince. She's lazy, pays only lip service to her charities, including her supposed "passion", early years (what happened to that?!). Can't do speeches, can't even dress stylishly, considering all the resources she has at her disposal. We all have different starting points at school (some more privileged than others) but it's what you do with it that counts. I can't see anything about her that is remotely above average, and am inclined to think she must have had loads and loads of extra tuition.

purplepencilcase · 15/03/2023 15:24

Horse riding? She learned but doesn't ride now so maybe she wasn't very good?

Diana, for all her faults, perceived and otherwise, did make a difference. She wasn’t afraid to make waves and do what she was passionate about. She also had young kids and didn’t use that as an excuse.
Kate falls very far short in comparison.”

Yes - what a difference. She targeted Charles more obviously than Kate targeted William.

She made waves because of her various childhood traumas

She was passionate about other peoples husbands.

I don't think either used "young kids" as an excuse. Both seem/seemed devoted to their children.

And, as I see it, Kate shines by comparison with Diana - but she is older and brighter.
(we know where Harry got his "thick" from - Diana admitted it)

SleepyRooster · 15/03/2023 15:31

Being interesting? Years of having to swallow down any sort of independent thought , in order to keep the status quo
must make one v v dull

I also thought this. But then this is the Royals Board. Are Republicans allowed?

I would hate if my DC turned out like Kate or Pippa.

You misunderstand my intention. Several people were implying that Kates's very good grades were not really worth much because she went to a fee-paying school.
I was saying that Harry went to what is often regarded as the "top" school in the country. Didn't work for him.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 15/03/2023 15:37

@BadgerB you are determined to shoehorn this into another thread.

I actually think Kate probably has lots of potential and if she hadn't just locked her sight onto William she would have excelled in something. They dated for a long time before engagement so it's not like she didn't have time. I mean she could have got 3 degrees or a PHD in that time or had some kind of career.

MyriadOfTravels · 15/03/2023 15:42

What she has done ins't much diferent than what a lot of teens have done. I've seen many of them (friends of my own dcs).
I remember some friends of mne at school being like that too.

They are children who are lucky enouh to have parents who can afford music lessons and out of school activities. And value a well rounded education.
Not unusual amongst the MC for example.

You are right, of course, but no matter how clever a person is they do not have to aim for the same things.
If she wanted a husband and family - and plenty of money to enjoy them - then she went for that.
She might have been better to settle, as her sister did, for a rich man not in the public eye.

Or she just doesn't enjoy it?
Does everyone has to love horse ridding and be good at it to be well considered??

I went to state school & had limited extracurricular. My dc go to state not much after school except football. Can't afford extracurriculars besides swimming which is very expensive for 3. So for me Kate is exceptional that her childhood included all it entailed. It's not the norm in my family or within my circle.

This was said as an excuse not to ride. It was already outed as a lie somewhere else. The RF aren’t adverse to telling a few lies as we all know.

I can't believe people berating her AAB. 'Hardly academic'? Oh come on.

I'm not knocking AAB as a set of grades - I do think it's very good and without doubt above average, I just don't think it's evidence of 'excelling'.
