What do you think?

I'm not surprised. I wonder if Harry and Meghan will buy a new UK residence.

Eugenie lives in Portugal?

AmandaJonah · 01/03/2023 10:51

I thought there already was a story that they had removed all their personal belongings. Was the other story a lie then? Or is this one a lie?

AmandaJonah · 01/03/2023 10:53

Just checked. Eugenie and Jack only spend part of their time in Portugal. They moved out of Frogmore in November 2022 after drama with William and Kate. They are now in Nottingham Cottage.

There was one after the Jubilee, yeah you're right.

Yup she did.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thanks @tatalan and @Roussette My eyes!! I mean unbelievable. It really epitomises the expression 'the lengths people will go to'.

Mind you, it's creative, to be fair. Fergie has always managed to make it somehow. And dosh is dosh. I respect that about her actually.
I had no idea Mills & Boons were such big money earners still. I mean who reads them these days? Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately!), the videos links didn't work.

tatalan · 01/03/2023 10:59

Omid has written an article. I might do a breakdown for the thread.

Well done King Charles. His patience has snapped after Harry's book.

Finally.

lthe family have been more than patient with the petulent Prince.

It's the UK's number one publisher of romantic fiction so clearly a lot of people do.

You are saying that people who live in a small house in a mining area are to be pitied. I'm guessing you live in SE England because people up here in Scotland don't think like that. In fact people being angry about houses with 100s of rooms seems ridiculous. Giant houses are millstones round your neck

Please don’t tell me what I’m saying, derxa. I did not write ‘people who live in a small house in a mining area are to be pitied, I wrote a ‘one up, one down’, (a small house -yes)…next to a coal mine. Meaning ‘next to’ not ‘in the area’.

And mining came to mind because both my sister and my son have worked in big mining concerns doing very labour intensive, often unpleasant, sometimes quite dangerous jobs….so no, not to be pitied. Admired for hard graft.

Andrew could do with a bit of that reality, imo. Or is it preferred he whinge and whine his way through an hour long interview in which he felt very very sorry…for himself. He was only being a good friend etc.? And after the interview he then went home to his millstone.

Poor Andrew, living in a giant house that’s really a millstone around his neck? I don’t think so.

Thanks I thought so. So I will take this all with a pinch of salt.
What I think might be true is Charles is pressuring Andrew to give up his lease. He might be saying if you don't agree to it I will force you into somewhere like Frogmore, whereas if you go voluntarily I will give you something nicer.

The amount of wishful thinking, supposition and confirmation bias on these threads is off the scale. All of it reflected through the twisted tabloid lens and an Establishment narrative aimed at trying to legitimise by popular acclaim the authority of the monarch.

This thread shows the real difference about how Harry and Andrew are treated.

I don’t think people really realise how big a social crime it is to speak out loud about family dysfunction. I have yet to meet a person who doesn’t think that the family relationships in the royal family are not completely dysfunctional which is all Harry has spoken out about. But that is apparently worse than allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a minor who had been groomed to go along with the experience by Royal and a lot of posters on MN set of values.

good post

I would rather see him being detained at His Majesties Pleasure rather than ensconced in this so-called cottage.

Lots of people have had life long careers in the Armed Forces and they don’t get to live like Andrew. It’s only being a RF member that gets him big houses. And like it or not, he was friends with both Epstein and Maxwell - two truly heinous people. His bad judgement when it comes to choosing friends alone should see him living in a one up one down, somewhere next to a working coal mine, in my opinion.

Agree

See also previous post, where I clarified that the comment I thought was unfair was the assertion that he's never had a proper job

It was never intended to be extrapolated to what he did afterwards (or why I think he's awful - hint: those two things may be connected)

good post

Sadly it is what usually happens. The family member who speaks the truth is ostracised and punished by the family. The family members who support the fanily, even if they commit crimes, are supported and their wrong doings covered up.

It doesn't need us to legitimise it, it's ensconced within our legal and governmental systems. Constitutional monarchy.

Whilst factually true, they do need to get the support of at least a good half of the population, or risk becoming an expensive irrelevance and a lighting rod for popular disaffection.

EdithWeston · 01/03/2023 11:26

The story is now reaching the broadsheets

The Telegraph is saying that discussions over H&M leaving Frog Cott have been going on for some time (sourced to a friend of the Sussexes)

And also that Prince Andrew may have to downsize as proposed cuts to his allowance would almost certainly mean he cannot continue to afford Royal Lodge. But that KC won’t see him left homeless

They don’t specifically link those two issues - just juxtapose them

I think you'll find many families don't fit the stereotype of a 'functional' family. Meghan markles family are even more dysfunctional with both wives of Thomas Markle having a liking for smoking weed and having boyfriends, along with fractured family relations. All of which contribute to the development of a narcissistic personality. Harry's family are not so dysfunctional in comparison although the death of his mother has caused serious personality issues with him.

Affairs, divorces, remarriages...all pretty normal and most divorced people wouldn't say they are dysfunctional. No child abuse or neglect, no financial abuse etc. so no more than most of us who have been divorced. A mothers death is a tragedy not dysfunctional.

As for andrew, he did not have sex with an underaged girl, he did not rape her and there isn't a scrap of evidence to show he was aware of any grooming. He is sleazy, unpleasant and entitled and a poor excuse for a man. However he is not a paedophile and he has paid a heavy price for that behaviour. Andrew and fergie have both been poor role models and human beings but the rest of the RF are just normal people by todays standards.

AmandaJonah · 01/03/2023 11:29

If Andrew had sex with a sex trafficked 17 year old, then he did rape her.
Unless you think the Rotherham grooming gang did not rape those 16 and 17 year old girls either?

ilovepuppies2019 · 01/03/2023 11:29

Omid Scoobie has now made it clear that this was not done in joint agreement with the Sussex's and they are very unhappy about the decision. This was on his Twitter.

"Barred from access to police security, there's just one space that meets the Sussexes' security needs when visiting the UK — Frogmore Cottage. Soon, that will no longer be an option."

This was his comment in a paper in Australia (news.com): A source close to the couple told him [Omid]: “It all feels very final and like a cruel punishment.
“It’s like [the family] want to cut them out of the picture for good.” Link: www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/royals/harry-and-meghan-stunned-by-king-charles-cruel-decision-to-evict-them-from-frogmore-cottage/news-story/c84dc08013e9c65d5f314e57eebe67c4

I'm shocked that this is clearly true and was obviously not done in agreement with the Sussex's. As someone on page 1 wrote, I assumed that the truth was less salacious and that the Sussex's had been consulted and agreed in order to stop paying the rent. It seems that they were booted out. This is a big hit to the relationship between Charles and Harry. Harry's been effectively told that he has no place in the UK and will only be a guest in the country. Security arrangements will likely mean that the couple would need to ask Charles and Camillia or William and Kate to stay with them if they wanted to visit. They are obviously not going to want to do that. Charles has effectively ensure that Harry will rarely return to the UK although he was clearly only coming over for very significant, obligatory and public events anyway. I feel sad for the father and son relationship as I think it will be much further damaged from this but I salute Charles for not giving in to some of behavior merely because Harry is his son.

I think it is extremely unlikely that this will come over to the UK for the coronation now.

@Roussette you've made my day with the these 😂

What a grifter 😂

ReneBumsWombats · 01/03/2023 11:38

Isn't UK police security for royals only for working royals of UK domicile, though? So they'd have had to make private arrangements for it while they're here anyway?

It does seem silly to have a five bedroom property sitting empty almost all the time. When do they ever come back?

AmandaJonah · 01/03/2023 11:38

The Royal Family are particularly dysfunctional. Charles who publicly criticised his parents and ex-wife and publicly criticises his son. Has accepted millions in cash in suitcases. Had a mother who shook his hand on meeting him as a 5 year old after a tour abroad for months. Has a real temper.
Camilla had an affair for many years with her now husband.
Andrew has hung about with many dodgy people and been accused of many dodgy dealings. He does seem to be a good loving father though.
The whole family seems to operate on the basis of briefing against each other in the press about minor things, but covering up major things.

milti · 01/03/2023 11:38

@tatalan yes lots of back grid snaps - rictus grins as per- no big deal, hope they enjoyed their night out
