A female monarch can create her spouse as a Prince (or Duke etc.) but it doesn't happen automatically when they marry.
In fact, Philip was not a prince at all from 1947 until 1957 when the late Queen made him a prince of the United Kingdom.
The Queen is dead, and the next actual one won't be til/if Charlotte gets the throne. I'm the one using the formal official term which is QueenConsort. Those calling her Queen are the ones who look weird.
As has been explained by many on this thread, this is a spectacularly incorrect assertion.
Queens consort have always been referred to ("styled") simply as The Queen while their kingly husbands were alive. For example, while George V reigned, his wife was HM The Queen. After his death, she was known as Queen Mary.
Same for the wife of George VI, except that after his death she had the added designation of Queen Mother to distinguish her from her daughter. “The Queen” reference is not limited to queens regnant.
Blimey, that was a weird time, wasn't it? All that weeping and wailing
As an American observing from across the pond, it seemed very weird indeed, and if I can be so bold as to generalize, a bit un-British.
