I really really like her!! She's so respectful, humble, funny, chill and genuinely lovely! No drama, no backstabbing, no dissing the royals or even Harry. What a thoroughly nice person!

If Harry had stuck with her and she had stuck with him, they would likely have been a fantastic duo and I fully expect Harry would have turned out far more normal, down to Earth and waaaaaaay less wokey/therapy-speak/narcissistic & self absorbed etc.. (though might not have had such a positive impact on Sasha!)

Sasha, u r awesome!

I'm sure a similar critique of 19 year old Meghan would be met with howls of outrage. This is exactly the sort of nastiness Harry has unleashed on an ordinary woman, with his reckless disregard for the feelings of anyone but himself.

Sasha who has had no surgery being compared to a waxwork.
One thing most first timer royal brides had in common until very recently is that they were young and previously unmarried. That changed with Harry.

Samcro · 15/02/2023 09:52

who's a waxwork? Kate? Meghan?
when looking at the photos all I saw was 2 young people. (H looked really young as boys do at 16~)

Plitvice · 15/02/2023 09:54

If Meghan's dad hadn't won the state lottery and invested wisely in her education, then how was she anything other than from a blue collar background?
Her behaviour and attitudes were already established before the lottery win and they very clearly indicate that she was some distance below Kate in equivalent class rankings.
Once the jackpot was paid out, credit to her family for supporting her desire to better herself socially. It obviously convinces some people.

@TimeToFlyNow She had a 2 year friendly mostly long distance, relationship with Piers before ghosting him. I guess he'd served her purpose

@Roussette Their friendship was not just a brief meeting and they were mutual friends for 2 years, not one sided. pM was a big suits fan and they followed and communicated over twitter. She called him a friend. He hasn't deleted the tweets, MM deleted her entire account. You need to research a little more before making ridiculous sweeping statements. As @notanotheroneagain has kindly put up PMs tweets you will see the dates are 2016. He actually started messaging her (and she replied) in 2015, before she even met PHarry. So a significant time and not just a 40 minute meeting.

PM was also singing her praises until she dropped him. So 3 years in all. I think he is more obsessed with her now than he ever was from 2015.

Let's face it MM has form for dropping people when they are no use to her any longer. She's at the top of the tree now and doesn't need the folks lower down, so PM, her dad, her friends etc aren't needed now.

@skullbabe She's a woman. That's enough to make it misogynistic.

I disagree. Men do not have to like every woman and are allowed to criticise women. It is misogyny when their comments and actions are only because they are a woman. It serves no one to misrepresent what misogyny actually is because you dislike someone.

Many people are acquaintances on social media - I have people I have never met but am very friendly with on Twitter and I have been on Twitter since 2009. However you must admit that it is a real stretch to claim a relationship with someone based solely on your social media interactions and a single meeting. I get it - you don’t like Meghan - but Piers himself agrees with this assessment of their interactions.

Are you forgetting Wallis?

Are you forgetting the abdication? 😄

skullbabe · 15/02/2023 10:09

Seriously this shouldn’t be a race to the bottom. Nothing can be gained from misogynistic and classist language to describe either one of these women. It helps neither “sides” causes.

But it doesn’t negate my point - first time royal bride. Nevermind something must be going over my head.

purpledalmation · 15/02/2023 10:17

@skullbabe The criticism of this particular journalist was vile and unnecessary. Criticise her journalism and choices, but that was disgusting. I don't like piers Morgan, Nigel Farage or many of the commentators, but my personal dislike does not blind me to what they are saying, I can listen and decide what is truth and what is bias. Just as I can with H&M.

skullbabe · 15/02/2023 10:54

We will have disagree - Rebekah Brooks was directly responsible for some of the most awful cases of phone hacking eg Millie Dowler amoungst others. I think Harry was quite measured and would say worse to describe her.

You are right. I should not have called her plain. I was just really making the point that royal marriages are more calculated than most people's marriages. It was a factual observation that all women married into the Windsor family have been very good looking, unlike her. The bigger point though is that for both of them, it was a five minute shag and that's all there was to it, and its pointless to imagine it could have been more.

It is not complicated. She was not a "royal bride" because of the abdication. Never mind.

This thread has just gone from bad to worse. This is what Harry put this woman through - strangers on the internet judging her looks as if she’s a prize calf rather than a human being.

Ridemeginger · 15/02/2023 13:03

That's quite some "apology". "I'm sorry I called her plain. She's just not very good looking." Jesus.

AliceOlive · 15/02/2023 13:08

Someone will be along to say worse has been said about someone else, by someone else, probably on a Reddit hate page and so it’s ok.

I usually find @MrsMaxDeWinter to be above this kind of comment. I think reading this crap about others all the time has not been good for any of us.

purpledalmation · 15/02/2023 13:20

In all honesty, I think she has well and truly dodged a bullet in having no further contact with Harry. A royal wife goes through every kind of nastiness and humiliating comments from the (initially) newspapers but now add on the horrors of social media, and no wonder Meghan couldn't hack it. No royal wife has escaped it and this ridiculous, sinner to Madonna status (or reversed as in Meghan) is sickening. It also is the same for celebrities, so not just the RF. i haven't bought a newspaper in years and don't bother with twitter.

I don't know if British media is worse than anywhere else, but they would have gone to town on Sasha as many have here. Called her plain, chubby and definitely not classy enough for Harry, even if there had been a genuine romance, rather than a drunken fumble,

I don’t understand that kind of comment, @purpledalmation . They were just pals almost 3 decades ago. Why would anyone expect them to be more?

They didn’t ghost one another, their lives just moved on.

To be fair, very few posters go as low down and nasty as to comment negatively on a woman's looks, in order to defend an arsehole for shagging her, ghosting her and throwing her to the tabloid wolves.

Samcro · 15/02/2023 16:07

i don't get the ghosting comments.
2 young people have sex. they don't keep in touch. perfectly normal.
unless mn is some weird place where you have to marry/stay life long friends with a ONS

The issue here is that it’s Harry - therefore the whole thing has to be retrofitted into the worst interpretation of events.

Indeed. Especially as the ONS is a worthy, deserving blonde who apparently should have been married to Harry, instead of the wife he actually married, who is NOT a worthy blonde.

adrianmolesmole · 15/02/2023 16:19

Sasha herself said they just went their separate ways and that's it. They were teenagers, it happens. Only in Harry's case is it a crime and "ghosting".
