Charity Engagement Yesterday

The Royal Family attend public engagements that are jollies such as Film Premiers and Wold Cup Finals. But yesterday William and Kate visited a Food Bank. So what did this work involve?

William and Kate travelled 10-15 minutes to the Windsor Foodshare, a food bank. They played around with a shopping cart and cracked “jokes” about who was being more useful (neither). They met with some of the food bank workers and barely spent an hour on this photo-op.

That is one of their average 150 engagements a year.

I pointed that if you had referred to “Kate Middleton” or “Meghan Markle” or indeed “Gary Lineker” in a post/article/email whatever if then it was perfectly acceptable to just refer to them as Middleton/Markle/Lineker in subsequent references to them in the same piece, according to most Style Guides. (Some posters were convinced it was rude). Is that what you are thinking of?

That’s quite different to referring to the Adams doing something and expecting people to realise you are talking about the Beckhams, though. That’s just confusing.

Yes. I think the poster referring to the “Middletons” is doing so because they dislike the fact that the DoS is being referred to as Markle and the couple as the Markles or Harkles. A few posters have done this. It’s all a bit silly if you ask me 😆

It’s all a bit silly if you ask me.

It's all a bit juvenile if you ask me. (Both "Markles" and "Middletons") And also a bit misogynistic.

I think the poster is using Middleton to refer to the Waleses because people use Markle to refer to the Sussexes, @Serenster

thanks yep I do.... just for fun.

myrtleWilson · 31/01/2023 14:38

@Serenster did you remember Victoria was an Adams before a Beckham or did you have to look it up....? If the former, then props for your memory or you've outed yourself as a mega Spice Girl fan 😂imagines Serenster wafting about the house in array of boob tube style dresses

Serenster · 31/01/2023 14:46

@myrtleWilson I remembered! Showing my age, clearly 🤣

Ohnonevermind · 31/01/2023 15:16

Using the Harkles combining names method they should be Widdletons or Males 😀

😂😂😂😂😂

As in the "Males" are lazy and entitled and should get off their admittedly thin arses and do something !
