I keep hearing this rumour and I'm just curious to know where it comes from? Where is the evidence?

You never know what goes on in people's relationships that's for sure.

However, I do hope that since Kate clearly has a very close relationship with her parents that if William did have an affair with one of their friends, that her parents would have supported her in leaving him. It isn't the 1950's.

I actually think Kate would much prefer Pippa's life - married to a nice billionaire without all the scrutiny.

Naive. She wouldn't be able to take her children & go!

Mingmoo · 21/01/2023 13:18

@Wiluli I've never seen a picture of William kissing anyone but a family member or his wife. I'm not saying it's not true, but if it's true you'd have a link to share.

Bluekerfuffle · 21/01/2023 13:20

I can see a scenario though where if it is true, Harry would be fucking livid because I imagine he has quite a black and white view of it.
And it would make sense that the palace would be keen to feed stories about Harry in return for silence on this and Prince Andrew.

Firstly, why would anyone think Harry is this upstanding, moral person and his brother isn’t?
Secondly, the press were not silent about Andrew and the idea that they would be happy to keep silent about something as juicy as an affair in return for pathetic stories about Harry is laughable.

Vitriolinsanity · 21/01/2023 13:28

I can't imagine naming my daughter Rose as a double bluff to throw affair rumours off.

It's odd either way. Whether the story is true or not, it was clearly widely talked about and would have probably caused a lot of distress to Kate.

Why not pick another name Pippa?

You're probably right. Who knows!

I do think Harry would be really cross if William had an affair though. Not because he is morally upstanding, but because he has a childlike view of a lot of things.

Never met either of them though so really no idea.

kindhandsworking · 21/01/2023 13:38

If it was true, perhaps Kate wouldn't of wanted to discuss with friends and family, may explain why Pippa has called her baby Rose if she wasn't 100% of the rumours were true, If Kate wants a quiet life of getting on with things, it would be hard to tell everyone around you what really went on.
I didn't know for years that my sisters husband cheated on her continuously until they divorced.

I clicked on this thread by accident from trending and have no interest in the royals but just had to say I'm wondering from your username whether you and I have the same favourite film

Hail Adrian? ;)

What have you done to his eyes??? Grin

Adviceneeded200 · 21/01/2023 14:01

@Dahlietta

Exactly. This is why I don't believe all the Carol Middleton rumours about planning on William for Kate.

She couldn't make W love her!

If she had ideas of ideal horizons for her girls, I'd put more money on her providing opportunities to nail a gig for like Pippa has found, far more so than Kates.

The good news is they both seem very happy.

JesusHeKnowsMe · 21/01/2023 00:06

Kate doesn't exactly look like she's built for bed hopping these days does she? Poor girl looks like she'd break. Really would like to feed her a good meal.

Wow, people are mean!

Serenster · 21/01/2023 14:52

Wiluli · 21/01/2023 12:42

while you don’t see much here the magazines abroad have no issue putting stuff up . In Spain and Portugal was very publicised asa a example . I do believe he did and does it , more than once .

As has been shown many times, the foreign press are just reporting on the rumours he had an affair. They are all very careful to clarify this.

Mingmoo · 21/01/2023 14:53

Ultimately, no one is going to be able to say for definite that they didn't have an affair. You can't prove a negative. That's why rumours are so pernicious - the very fact they exist feels like confirmation that they're true, and denying them just draws attention to them (the Streisand effect). But Rose's husband continued to do his royal duties, and there are no pictures, voice recordings, eye witness accounts or anything that would count as proof of it happening. Incidentally at the height of the scandal I remember pictures in the Mail of Rose walking into a formal dinner at BP in the company of Sarah Vine, in her capacity as Michael Gove's spouse, chatting pleasantly. You can find the pictures if you google their names together. So the palace can't have been too worried about keeping Rose out of the limelight.

barnbaby · 21/01/2023 15:04

Wasn't the kissing photo that ski trip? A blonde model if I remember rightly. NO idea which magazine it was, would have been abroad I think. I remember my friend coming back from US and saying the press was awash with stories about his affair. I think Rose Hanbury was not the one, it was someone else

Cormakorma · 21/01/2023 15:08

Well yes, the best way is to make sure they don't exist in the first place. But there are plenty of other ways. I work in cybersecurity so know quite a lot about this. Do you honestly think no-one has ever shagged around without leaving evidence? It happens all the time.

Cormakorma · 21/01/2023 15:11

I agree. I didn't tell my sister when I was cheated on because we stayed together (for a bit) and it was all massively embarrassing. In real life I think it's quite common for adult siblings not to share intimate details of their private lives. So it's perfectly possible Pippa knew nothing of any of this.

vera99 · 21/01/2023 15:28

Rose's husband is much older than her. She's 38 and he's 62. Houghton Hall is a wonderful country pile , arty and filled with world class sculptures and temporary exhibitions and they are known to have eclectic bohemian tastes and lifestyles The "turnip toffs" as they are known have attracted all the great and good to their parties, musicians, filmmakers, writers, Stephen Fry! and hosts festivals and EDM dance parties. The odious Dan Wooton a leading Harry tormentor was part of the rabid pack that led with that rumour lest he forgets...

In 2017 Harry was at her side.

Last night marked Prince Harry's first ever State Banquet, which could be a sign of things to come as the young Royal takes on more duties with his family.

But it was Harry's table partner that stole the attention, when the younger prince was spotted next to a mystery brunette woman, wearing a very extravagant tiara.

Kate Middleton and Prince William might seem to have the fairytale romance now, but the couple had a rather tumultuous courtship including a brief split– and now it turns out a member of the royal family actively tried to break the pair up.

According to Christopher Andersen, author of the book Game Of Crowns: Elizabeth, Camilla, Kate, And The Throne, Camilla wanted Wills to split with “pretty but dim” Kate – largely due to her lack of royal blood.

What were the rumors exactly? According to The Sun's Dan Wootton, royal insiders claimed to him that Kate told her husband Prince William that Hanbury and by extension, her husband David Rocksavage, need to be “phased out” of the her and William's closest friend group.

“It is well known that Kate and Rose have had a terrible falling out," Wootton's source alleged to the outlet. "They used to be close but that is not the case any more. William wants to play peacemaker so the two couples can remain friends, given they live so close to each other and share many mutual friends. But Kate has been clear that she doesn’t want to see them any more and wants William to phase them out, despite their social status.”

Maireas · 21/01/2023 15:32

Camilla objected to Kate because she didn't have royal blood? What nonsense.
Camilla doesn't either!

That's quite a grazing buffet I've laid out there - original 'research' as well !

The Count of Cholmondey as the director "David Rocksavage" directed and produced this film.

Peverellshire · 21/01/2023 15:47

@vera99 they sound fab, & dinner parties wouldn’t be dull! Katherine likely found good company esp with interest in art history. I hope bridges are mended.

’Bohemian’…yes…’Stephen Fry’…even more interesting…
