Queen offered Meghan a choice of tiaras

Below is an extract that describes Meghan being given the tiara to wear for her wedding by the Queen. Another passage describes hoe Angela Levin would not allow Meghan to get access to the tiara before her wedding to practise it with her hairdresser.

"Next came the question of a tiara. My aunts asked if Meg would like to wear my mother’s. We were both touched. Meg then spent hours and hours with her dress designer, getting the veil to match the tiara, giving it a similar scalloped edge. Shortly before the wedding, however, Granny reached out. She offered us access to her collection of tiaras. She even invited us to Buckingham Palace to try them on. Do come over, I remember her saying.
Extraordinary morning. We walked into Granny’s private dressing room, right next to her bedroom, a space I’d never been in. Along with Granny was a jewelry expert, an eminent historian who knew the lineage of each stone in the royal collection. Also present was Granny’s dresser and confidante, Angela. Five tiaras were arrayed on a table, and Granny directed Meg to try on each one before a full-length mirror. I stood behind, watching.
One was all emeralds. One was aquamarines. Each was more dazzlingly stunning than the last. Each took my breath. I wasn’t the only one. Granny said to Meg quite tenderly: Tiaras suit you.
Meg melted. Thank you, Ma’am.
One of the five, however, stood out. Everyone agreed. It was beautiful, seemingly made for Meg. Granny said it would be placed in a safe directly and she looked forward to seeing it on Meg’s head come the Big Day. Make sure, she added, that you practice putting it on. With your hairdresser. It’s tricky and you don’t want to be doing it for the first time on the wedding day."

Spare, Harry

Either Angela deliberately did not want to help Meghan, or the set up is very unorganised and unprofessional.

Or the queen said keep them at arm’s length? Or they were really difficult to deal with? Or there was miscommunication? No idea why you think there are only two alternatives here? It’s a bit bizarre

@Thesealsknowsheismagic How do you know that is not true?

Because Harry says it isn’t true.

What would he gain by lying about that? And if you believe he is lying why are you believing anything he wrote.

Sounds to me like Meghan was totally disorganised. The wedding seemed a bit shambolic and last minute, to be honest.

@Thesealsknowsheismagic Sorry I did not know that. There are so many lies out there.

For the love of god can someone explain why you’d take the priceless tiara OUT of the palace rather than have the hairdresser come in? Perhaps AK was surprised by the request to arrange for it to be removed and that’s why it took a while?

babsanderson · 16/01/2023 20:55

@MarshaMelrose How is expecting someone to either reply to a message or have an out of office reply on being disorganised? It is very basic working practice.

Well, given the redesign of the ring Harry actually had made for her, perhaps Diana's would have ended up with a diamond encrusted band, which would not have been good.

Lol! You have called someone a racist on this thread with no information about it and are on here every day pumping out half naked theories. I can’t believe you actually typed that, you must be joking

It gets better and better. Fgs read the full book and then come back.

But yet you have accused Angela Kelly, a dockers daughter from Liverpool, of being racist.

No it’s not.

It depends on many things. Job role, if you still check your emails while out of the office etc.

Our MD (Big Company) never has his out of office on. If he is away he still checks his email once per day. No one would expect and urgent reply from him and contact via email. They would call if it was urgent. If you email him after he has logged off you won’t hear for 24 hours.

I am a director. No one would expect a reply from me, when I am in the office, in under 24 hours. Again, if it’s genuinely urgent and needs an immediate response, they would call me. Same as if I was on annual leave. Anything urgent that only I can deal with would be communicated by phone.

Not all businesses require their staff to immediately respond to emails. It depends on the job and the nature of their work.

I think M got Diana's Cartier watch and H bought her the bracelet to go with it - plus a couple of diamonds to go in her engagement ring ( which she had remodelled after he had had it made ) so I don't think either son was let down re Mother's jewellery - I think M got that most beautiful aquamarine ring - now that I would love. But sadly never married a royal with a lovely trinket box 😁

Going off topic a bit, I thought MM bought her own Cartier watch during her Suits days.

The aquamarine ring is stunning. Much better than the engagement ring. Ultimately I think the right ring went to the right bride.

She did buy the watch as a gift to herself and her first husband bought the bracelet. Funny enough harry doesn’t mention that he ever bought her major gift. Tight.

You are on the wind up.

Where does Harry, in the bit you read, say AK is probably racist?

why not read the whole book before insisting you know the facts, despite Harry saying different.

Because according to Harry, Angela Kelly was there when she chose the tiara. Why not speak to her directly face to face and book a date there and then? Why mess around and then email and find her on holiday?
Shambolic wedding organisation by Meghan and Harry.

Maybe his gift was a repayment plan on the second hand sofa?

Does anyone have a good photo of the aquamarine ring? I can’t find a good photo of it.

Sounds like yet another breakdown in communication. Almost every row in a family is because people don't or won't communicate with each other.
It's really not difficult but some people seem to have great trouble with it.

Completely agree and a tendency to look into everything that's said with a negative twist or assumption.
